This story was inspired by Aeris' story, "Trust Me" The only thing this has to do with Sailor Moon is the characters. No youma, no fuku, and no senshi. Just Usagi. If I find that anyone has taken my story, or posted it on another collection of fanfics without asking me, I will throw things at them and call them awful names. If you actually like my story, and have any comments or you want to put it online somewhere, then drop me a line at PreciaMKR@aol.com The name 'Shunji Iwaku' means, roughly translated, "Past Moments" Never Usagi jumped down from the tree she was hiding in, screaming. Mamoru looked up, shocked. "Usagi!" He chided, "Don't do that! You might hurt yourself!" He hugged her and she snuggled in closer to him. Usagi barreled around the corner, crashing into the tall man. "I'm sorry!" She looked up at his face and gasped, "Mamo-chan!" She didn't expect to run into him like that... Shunji Iwaku sat up. The dreams had wrenched her out of sleep. Again. For the past week she had been having dreams of the girl and the man. She wanted to forget about that. Forever. She glanced at the calendar. June 28th. Only two days until... No. She wouldn't think of that. Never again... It was six thirty in the morning. A little early, but she wanted to fit in a run before going to work. Shunji crawled out of bed, flinging the covers across the room. She pulled a running suit on and brushed her long, blond hair. She began to pull it up along the side of her head, but stopped. No! No! Damnit! That's the past! I have to forget about it! Shunji pulled her hair back into a ponytail, and after grabbing a quick breakfast, was out the door. She stood on her porch for a moment breathing in the morning air. She lifted her leg and placed it on the rail, stretching. Shunji smiled. She was so different now. She was once a lazy flake, who cared about nothing but guys and her next snack. Now she was focused. Many men glanced her way when she passed, but she would only answer with a curt smile. She could only love one man, but it was over. She vowed to never love again. Shunji was very changed. At one point she had been a stupid teenager without a plan. Now she was vice president of TOLT Co., an Internet stockbroker. A thought hit Shunji- I bet she'd get a kick out of the way this turned out... I bet they all would... She shook her head and began running. Can't think about her. Can't think about them. Just run. She did run. She ran through the streets of Tokyo, glancing at all the little shops. Looking at the people. A woman with short blue hair sat outside of a caf鬠reading a book. Ami... No! A tall brunette stood outside of a restaurant, turning the sign over to read 'open'. Makoto.. . Never again! Two females stood outside of a shop, looking in the windows. The blond sported a red bow while the raven-haired one glanced across the street at a dark haired man and waved. Minako... Rei... Mamoru... He waved back. The tears burned at Shunji's eyes. Life was cruel, she thought, I said it was over, and it is! All the lies, the deceit... The hate... The love. She burst around the corner. It was all too much. Everything was too much for her. She had to slow down, or her heart would break, as it had years before. Love was over for her. He left her. He left her for that girl she called her friend. She was never my friend, Shunji thought, she always hated me. Ami glanced up from her book as a jogger went past. A pretty girl, about her age, with long blond hair. She grinned. Kind of like Minako, she thought, or Usagi. Her smile faded. They never saw Usagi again after the episode at the park. Mamoru and Rei were planning her birthday party, and had both insisted she stay with Minako that day and go shopping. The two blondes chanced by the park and Usagi went off her rocket when she saw the two together. She just ran off home, and refused to answer the door. Later they found she moved without a forwarding address. That was six years ago. Rei Hino stood outside a shop with Minako. The two were waiting for Mamoru so they could help him pick out a new couch for his apartment. She spotted him just as a jogger ran by. Mamoru's eyes momentarily followed the girl, then he crossed the street and stood next to Rei. Minako looked over at the two. She had always disapproved of the relationship, mutual as it may be. "Rei-chan," Mamoru said, "Did you notice something about that jogger?" There was something about her. Rei shook her head. "I didn't look too closely." She said, squeezing Mamoru's hand. Minako glanced away. It had been years, but Usagi was still on her mind. Usagi had been so filled with mistrust and hate at that day, and she just exploded, and they never saw her again. She blamed Mamoru and Rei. They always shared something a little special. They were quite alike in ways, as they both cared for Usagi deeply, but Mamoru displayed it more openly. Rei just tried to protect her in ways that were slightly less then kind. Makoto turned around and waved at Minako and Rei, who were now standing next to Mamoru. They came over, discussing a jogger they had seen pass by, and her resemblance to Usagi, their lost companion. Makoto admitted that she had not really looked, but saw some very long blond hair. The conversation paused for a moment and Makoto spotted Ami, reading a book. Mako crossed the street and invited the smart woman over to have breakfast with them. Ami stood up and gathered her books. Shunji opened her eyes. It wasn't supposed to happen that way. She should have left Tokyo and never heard of them again. But instead she had been offered the job and she stayed, if only to save herself the commute time. Shunji ran home, taking the back route. She wouldn't chance seeing them again. Shunji opened her front door, the key in her hand trembling. She looked down to find it was not the key shaking, but her hand. She finally opened the door and slammed it behind her, slamming out her so-called friends. She pulled the tight jogging suit off and stepped into the steaming hot shower. The hot water felt so good after a long run. She washed her hair and thought about what was on her schedule for the day. Hair. That had been a big part of her past life. The way she wore it up in those silly little buns sparked her only real relationship and impacted her life. Shunji stepped out of the shower, wrapped herself in a towel and picked up the phone. She dialed the number of a trendy salon and got an eight forty-five appointment. That gave her fifteen minutes. She dried herself off, and put her new business suit on. She didn't know why she never thought of cutting her hair off in the past six years. This must mean I'm really ready to break off fully, Shunji thought, I can finally get on with my life. Shunji Iwaku pulled the car into the parking space minutes before her appointment. She walked in, and informed the stylist she would like her hair cut about shoulder length. The stylist cut away at Shunji's hair, muttering about how throwing all that beautiful hair away was a shame. Shunji left a large tip. She turned the key in the ignition and left for the TOLT Co. building. Rei and the others sat down at a table in Makoto's successful new restaurant and ordered. They were all talking about the jogger who had caught Mamoru's eye. "It's so odd," Makoto said, "That we're all thinking about her." "Well," Ami reasoned, "It's almost exactly six years ago when..." Minako opened up the newest gossip magazine as they waited for their food to arrive. An article on page 56 announced a list of the fifty most successful people under thirty. About halfway through the story, Minako gasped. Number 25 on the list was Shunji Iwaku, the 26 year old vice president of Tokyo On-Line Trading Co. It talked about how as a teenager her grades were less then stellar, but she managed to fight her way to the top. A high school class picture was provided. Shunji wore her hair up in two buns. The face looking back at Minako was none other then that of Usagi. Minako's face had gone white and Rei looked over her shoulder to see what the matter had been. Her hand rose to her mouth as a word slipped out- "Usagi?" Shunji entered her office and sat down in the plush leather chair. Her phone rang, and she picked it up. It was her secretary, saying there was a call on line one. She didn't ask who it was, and that was her mistake. Shunji wasn't busy at the moment, so the call was sent through. "Hello," she said, "Shunji Iwaku." "Usagi?" Said the voice, sounding sure of itself. She knew that voice well. "Rei," She spat, "What do you want?" "Usagi, I want to say I'm sorry. It wasn't what it looked like." "No, Rei, it was what it looked like. It's over. You betrayed me and I could never trust any of you again. I can never..." "Usagi," A new voice broke in. It was Mamoru, "I love you. We were planning a party for your birthday. It was nothing." "Nothing!" Usagi shouted, "That was everything! I can never forgive you!" "Usagi," he said, "Just consider coming back." Usagi was silent until he spoke again. "Usagi," he said quietly, "When are you coming back to us?" "Never." Usagi put the phone down and began to cry.
