Chapter One: Forever Yours By: Eternal Angel and Millie Your gentle touch Your sweet kiss Your cool hand on mine I remember it all so clearly How you would say the cutest things And how your face would be when you're angry All that is so vivid in my mind Like unforgettable memories Memories that I treasure How your eyes make me melt And how your kiss makes me tingle inside I would never forget How you make me feel so special That's why I'll always be Forever Yours - Eternal Angel It had been three years. Three years that she had been gone. God, the worst years of his life. He missed her terribly. He blamed only one person for pushing her away, himself. If he hadn't listen to his dreams, she would still be here with him. He wasn't the only one that was hurt and effected by her disappearance. Amy had become more meek and quiet... only studying, never doing much of anything else; she seemed to be friendless. She isolated herself from everyone else. Serena use to be the one that got Amy's head out of the book, and into socializing. Now that Serena was gone, Amy had no one to talk to . . . no one to listen to her... Rei had felt terrible about what happened. She never ever thought that Serena would ever actually leave... She had gone through a period of depression, thinking that it was her fault because of how she treated Serena. Darien finally told Rei that it had nothing to do with her, it was because of him... he caused her to run away, but he had never told her the exact reason why he had driven her so far away from him... whenever they were in the same room together without feeling her raging eyes staring at him, making him so guilty. She still blamed herself, but it was easier to blame him instead... To Lita, Serena was her saint... of course not because of her habits, but because what she did for Lita. Lita always had this void that could never be filled. That void that had caused her to have so much anger, so much loneliness, because of the death of her parents... Serena had seemed to fill that void completely with her happiness and natural sunshine. Giving Lita one thing that she truly needed . . . true friendship. Now, Lita had gone back to her old habits, she got into a lot of fights, almost being expelled from her High School. Mina had become quiet, which was a suprized to them all. Usually she was very talkative; her loud voice occasionally attracted the attention of complete strangers whenever she was upset or overly excited... somewhat like Serena, only less whiny. But she wasn't anymore. She had become quiet and barely talked unless she was talked to. No one knew the cause of Mina's dramatic change of attitudes. Maybe if the scouts had pulled together during these hard times, things wouldn't have been this badly. But Serena was the only one that had kept them together, she was the chain link that held them together. The Sailor Scouts had been broken up after their essential link to each other was lost to them. The negiverse barely attacked anymore ever since Serena had left. The black moon family had still roamed around there, trying to rule 'Crystal Tokyo' as they called it. "Darien?" A voice said to him. The 10-year-old looked up at him with her innocent pink eyes. "I miss Serena, do you think she is going to be back soon?" The mention of the name made his heart cry out. "I don't know Rini, I just don't know." As a tear rolled down his cheek, he turned slightly so that Rini wouldn't be able to see it. 'Serena, I love you so much...' His mind yelled out, hoping she would hear him, wherever she was. __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ A girl with long, black hair slowly cleared her messy room. Then she came across the newest Sailor V magna book that she had bought that weekend. She picked up the comic book and began to tearfully turn the page as she took a break from her chores to remember about times when she could truthfully exclaim as the happiest times of her life. *FLASHBACK* "Rei! Why do you have to be SO mean to me?! WAH!" Serena exclaimed reciting her daily line as she and Rei battled it out in yet another tongue war. "Cause, you meatball brain, you trashed yet another one of my *new* Sailor V comics! I spent a month's allowance on this thing and now look at it!" Rei angrily lifted a mushy book, which was covered with milkshake and coke. While the inside was a worse sight. On the pages, were grains of rice stuck to the edges, lemon chicken all over the pages, noodles along the book's spine, and smudges of chocolate everywhere you looked! "Awwww, Rei! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to... I just had a snack while I was reading it. I didn't mean to mess it up!" Serena pleaded. "A snack!? More like a twenty course meal!" Rei commented "Actually, looks like the book retained more of the food than you did!" Rei began to laugh uncontrollably, causing the milk that she just drank to come squirting out of her nose, also causing Serena to begin her hyena-like laughing. In the end, both girls tried to sit up and their laughing died down to a giggling feast. *END OF FLASHBACK* Yes, those were the happiest times of her life... at least her best friend was with her... now her best friend was gone... and she wished so much that she would return. _________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ A blue-haired girl sat alone in a library reading a thick book about Astro Physics while trying to get at least 25 chapters ahead of her class in Advanced Calculus. As she got up to retrieve a book from the mathematics section, her eyes wandered to a very worn out copy of an algebra textbook that lay on the floor. As she bent to pick it she noticed that there was a paper inside. It was filled with writing that could only be identified as chicken scratches. Then suddenly it hit her... *FLASHBACK* "Oh, Amy! I just don't get it and I never will!" Serena began to whine. "C'mon Serena! Yes you can... all you have to do is concentrate! See, you are trying to multiply the two binomials to get one trinomial. Okay, if it is that hard I'll teach you how to use the FOIL system...." Amy replied encouragingly. "Okay, let me get some essentials first..." Serena said as she headed towards the door. "Okay, all ready... now show me again how to use the foil thing." she said as she handed Amy a roll of foil. "No! Serena, I didn't mean real foil! Okay look..." Amy began to explain. About two days later, Serena ran up to Amy and exclaimed, "Look! Look Ames!" "Serena, how can I look when I can hardly breathe?" Amy choked out. "Oh sorry! I was just so happy! I got a 93% on my test! You know the one with the binoculars or something..." She said happily as she began to hop up and down. "That's binomials, Serena... see binoculars are instruments which allows one to see farther distances using different types of lenses: convex and concave..." Amy glanced at Serena and she knew that Serena was starting to get lost, "Ahem... never mind.. anyway, Great job, Serena! I knew you could do it!" "No, I couldn't have done it without you Amy! Thanks so much! You are the best!" *END OF FLASHBACK* Tears fell from her eyes as she slowly put the book away. Then she got up to go back to the desk in which she was studying at.... 'She was a good friend... she was *my* first and only true friend!' Amy thought sadly. A tear trickled down her lonesome face as she thought about her best friend. __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ The tall brunette stood next to her kitchen table, slowly making some of her famous chocolate cookies and her delicious cream puffs. After she was done with the cookies, she began on the cream puffs. she was tempted to put the cream in her mouth rather than the puffs, which she did. As she was stuffing herself with the yummy vanilla flavored cream. *FLASHBACK* "Serena, could you hand me that bowl with cream in it?" Lita asked. "Okay here it is..." Serena said as she handed Lita the bowl, "Mmmmm this is soooooooo, good!" "Serena, stop... just wait till I finish making them. They will taste much better after I'm done." "Can I do that? Pleeeeeaaaaassssseeee?!" Serena pleaded putting on her big puppy dog eyes that no one could resist. "Okay Serena, just be really careful and do it just how I taught you." "Thank you! Thank You! I promise I won't screw up... wait, let me rephrase that... I promise to TRY not to screw up." Serena exclaimed. A while later, Lita went to the pantry to get another bag of flour. 'Since Serena is here, might as well make ten dozen instead of just two dozen.' "Serena? Are you....." Lita stopped dead in her tracks as her eyes registered the scene that was in front of her. Serena was practically inhaling the cream, instead of putting it in the puffs like she was supposed to. "*gasp* Serena! What on Earth are you doing?! don't do that! I don't think that's healthy! Serena!!!" "Mmmmm...Yumm........Hmmmmm??? Sorry Lita! It was just so tempting, I couldn't resist! I'm sorry!" Serena began to whine "*sigh* That's okay Serena. I should know better than to leave you alone in a room with potential sweets! Okay, I guess I have to make another batch of cream... maybe I could make up an extra batch just for you to pig out on? What do you..." Lita suggested, but was interrupted by Serena. "Really?!" Serena squealed, "Oh thanks Lita! You are the greatest!" "Um, Serena? Yeah... where are the puffs that you were supposed to put the cream in?" Lita began as a great realization suddenly dawned on her, "Never mind... I can figure that part out by myself. Oh Serena, what am I gonna do with you?" She managed to say before she and Serena were on the floor giggling their hearts out. *END OF FLASHBACK* 'She gave me a chance when no one else would... oh, Serena, where are you? Are you alright?' Lita wondered despairingly. __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ A blond sat in front of her vanity as she attempted to put her long silky hair in a style other than her regular half-up, half-down with the red ribbon style. she picked up a big wooden brush as she carefully combed her hair. Then as she began to style her hair, she was reminded of another time when she did this to another person. *FLASHBACK* The two blondes sat in her room deciding what hair accessory to use on each other. "So Serena? what would you like Madame? French braid? pony tail?" "Ohhh I don't know Mina... I've never had anyone do my hair before... you choose. Since you are so good at this stuff." Serena said. "Okay...here I go!" as Mina expertly began to brush Serena's hair in long motions. When Mina was done, she got up from her cramped position and encouraged Serena to look in the mirror. "So Sere what do you think?" Serena got up and began to walk towards the full-length mirror. She only got half way as she tripped and fell, either due to her numb legs from sitting on them too long or because merely of her clumsiness she tripped on her long hair that was now half done in a bun and half let down. Mina tried hard to conceal her laughter "Here, Serena... let me help you." she offered her hand as she slowly pulled her friend up. "Oh, I'm sorry Mina... I completely ruined all the work that you did. I'm such a klutz!" Serena said sadly as she realized that the hairdo had come undone when she fell. "That's okay Serena... I can do it again if you want. Except I'll put it up higher this time so that you won't trip on it and you should sit on the chair so that your legs won't fall asleep." Mina began. "Mina... tell you what, I'll do your hair this time and then you could do mine. Then well find some clothes to go with out new hairstyles. What do you say?" "Are you suggesting that we play dress up?" Mina asked innocently, " Don't you think that is a bit childish?" Mina and Serena looked at each other and both exclaimed, "Nawwwww!" Then an enthused Mina said," I'm all for it! C'mon I have tons of old clothes around here somewhere..." *END OF FLASHBACK* 'It was like we were sisters! We even looked somewhat alike! I miss her so much! No one to go shopping with anymore... no one to go boy stalking with! Serena... please come back... wherever you are?!' Mina shouted in her mind, hoping Serena would hear her. _________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Meanwhile, a blond looked longily out the window. Her eyes blank and empty. Sadness was written all over her face, and in her soul too. The past was painful. Too painful. It turned to think of the past, yet she couldn't help it. It was a part of her. How she felt betrayed by one person. That person whom she loved with all her heart and soul. She couldn't hate him though, she still loved him. That was what pained her the most. Loving him. She found a home here though, wherever here was. She found love, but not the love she had for him. She finally had friends . . . or did she? She wasn't quite sure. "Rena? You okay?" She heard a voice asked. She turned around to see a blond haired man. He had deep blue eyes that would make a person melt. She smiled at him. "Yeah I am Jed. Just thinking about the past." She replied to him. He glanced at her one more time, checking if she was okay, and continued at what he was going. "Serena, I think it's time we all went to Japan." Matt told her, uncertain of her response. "I know. But I don't want to. It's just too painful." Tears formed in her eyes, which she quickly tried to hide from the four of her friends. The past had become something that she dreaded, and it always seemed to haunt her, even if she was thousands of miles away from them . . . She knew how much the four wanted to leave and go back to their loves . . . she did too . . . "It's time that you don't live in your past." Nate replied. "You shouldn't be talking, you worship the stars." Serena insulted him. "Oooo. Nate gonna let her talk to you that way?" Zach asked, as he brushed his hair with his hands as he gave Nate a smirk. "Yeah." Nate backed down. Even Serena had to laugh at him. The laughter soon died down as silence once again filled the room. "You know, Sere, he is right.... you shouldn't run from your past, you should learn to deal with it." Matt told her. She gave him the you - don't - understand - what - happened - cause - you - weren't - there - so - leave - me - alone look and he got the clue, "But we could always wait a few more months, until you are ready... of course." Then Jed added, "Yeah, don't mind Nate, Sere. He's just itching to see Lita that's all..." Nate blushed and quickly thought of a retaliation statement, "Oh, yeah... what about you Jed... don't you miss your 'fire goddess' as you called her last night in your dreams?" And he went on to mimicking Jed talking in his sleep..., "Oh, Raye.... my beautiful fire goddess... I love you so much... *smooch, smooch" Nate made kissing noises as a ripe red Jed, rushed to Nate with a look that could kill. Just then Zach spoke again, before the two could kill each other, "I think going back would be the best course of action right now... after all Rena, you aren't exactly happy here, right? besides, I'm sure you've got Darien so worked up about your disappearance that he is eternally sorry for taking you for granted and breaking yo... um... I mean hurting you. And if he isn't well... we'll just break his neck!" At these words, a flash of hope slid across Sere's eyes only to be followed by a mischievous smile that settled itself on her dainty little mouth. "You'd better not break his neck or else I will punish you." Then she took up her little pose as if she were in a true battle and continued on with her speech, altering it somewhat to fit the purpose. "In the name of the moon, you will not destroy my one true love, even if he has hurt me time and time again, or I'll turn you into moon dust. Besides, I'm the only one allowed to kill him!" At this, all four men were on the ground holding their sides laughing their heads off with a temporarily happy Sere standing and laughing at the sight of the once most powerful generals of the earth and then of the Negiverse, reduced to a bunch of giggling school girls. _______________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ The four well-built men and a beautiful petite blond, piled out of the airport. Three of the four men had a bag in each hand, while Matt had two; one belonging to Sere. While Serena stood straight as she began to piece together what used to be her hometown. She recognized many buildings and began to look around finding that not much had changed except the fact that the city's number of buildings grew... there was one building that caught Sere's eye... the building of Diamond Enterprises. It stood high as if it were the most important building in the city. It was silver with a huge rendition of a diamond sitting at the top of the structure. Just as they passed the building, Serena had flashes of feelings within her. One was of the presence of evil and the second was of recognition, of something or someone familiar. She turned her head around so fast that she accidentally whipped her companions' faces with her long flowing hair, still in their meatballs. "Ow! Sere! Watch it with the hair!" Jed complained loudly," You could have killed us!" Noticing that Sere was distracted by something else, he turned back to the others and began conversing with them once more as they tried to decide what to do first: go to their hotel room or go to grab something to eat. 'I'm so glad Sere knows her way around this city! God! Who thought Tokyo could be so... well... big!' Zach thought silently to himself. She suddenly caught sight of a man in his early twenties with black hair and a green blazer . . . (Millie: yes... after all this time he still has that green jacket! You think after all this time he would have the right mind to go to the mall or something and buy a new one! I must admit... is oh-so cute on him! ::has hearts in her eyes::) (Usa-chan: ::rolls her eyes:: don't worry people, Millie thinks anything that has to do with Darien is so kawaii.) . . . walking towards a young girl with blond hair just like hers. He gave this girl a hug and a quick, but stiff kiss on the mouth. Sere did not notice the stiffness in the kiss or the guilt in his eyes, she only noticed the kiss. She was so blind with jealousy and rage that she did not notice these little facts and not to mention the little thing of the girl's resemblance to herself, save the meatball hairstyle and the much more beautiful, once-emotion-filled eyes. From the moment, she laid eyes on that particular young man; she knew it was him. The one who had broken her heart, so many years ago, and succeeding in breaking it again after all this time. Darien. "What's wrong Sere?" Matt asked, as he noticed that she was off into space. "Nothing." She said, brushing him off. Her eyes were about to fill up with tears. Matt looked at her again. And turned back and talked to the other three. Serena looked backed one more time. Her heart pained. 'You done him a favor of leaving.' A voice inside of her said. 'Look how happy he is.' 'Yes, he has finally found happiness... but happiness without me . . .' She thought sadly, a tear trickled down her face as she continued to walk away... away from her true love. _________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ "It's so cold." Serena complained, she shivered at the temperature. Her body shivered. "Sere, you're cold?" Nate asked incredulously. "That's what she just said Einstein!" Jed noted sarcastically. "Actually, it's quite hot. The temperature is well above the normal in Tokyo." Zach said, looking at the hot sun. She frowned at him. Jed looked at her strangely. He then put his hand on her forehead. "Gosh! Your forehead is burning!!" He exclaimed. The four guys looked at their princess. She then fainted. Matt caught her before she fell all the way to meet the hot asphalt. Sometime later Serena's eyes finally fluttered open. She glanced up at her four friends as their face was with filled with worry. She gave them a small smile. "Well, I think it is best if we get you to a doctor." Nate said. "Doctor?" Serena squeaked out. She hated going to the doctors, and the four of them all knew it. Jed nodded. "Yep, Rena, you should go to the doctor." "That is what I just said you moron!" Nate said exasperatedly. Before she could protest, Matt's strong arms grabbed her up. His cool hands felt nice against her hot body so she just decided to relax and enjoy the free ride to the dreaded hospital. A while later, she couldn't resist the temptation of a nap in Matt's warm arms... so she just let sleep invade her. __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ "Next, Serenity Lunar." The nurse called out. "Serenity Lunar?" Nate mouthed to Matt. Matt struggled. Serena seemed to want to hide her identity so she used a fake name. 'Ohh well.' He thought. 'Let the princess do whatever she wants.' Serena/Serenity stalked into the office, giving the four an evil look. "Doctor Chiba will soon see you." The nurse said, as she left her clipboard down and left the room. "Chiba? Did she say Chiba?" She questioned, as she took her long mane of hair out of her meatballs. 'Just in case.' She thought. The door opened as a blacked haired man came into the room. He took a glance of the woman sitting in front of him. She looked so familiar. So intoxicating, yet so unclear. He had to see her face, it was just something about her that made him feel so... so... he didn't know how to describe it. "Hello, Serenity Lunar." He said, after reading the clipboard. She wouldn't look into his eyes. She feared that he would recognize her. She didn't want to look at him anyway, in fear that she might break. Temptation ran through her as she was tempted to run into his arms and just have him hold her... 'No! I will not let him hurt me again! No! Never again!' Serena stated with much resolve. "Hi." She replied back in a deep voice. He cupped his hands on her chin and brought it up. He looked into her eyes. He gasped as he began to recognize her straight away. "Serena . . ." He whispered. "Um . . . " she answered slowly, "you must have the wrong person . . . my name is Serenity Lunar. . . I don't know any one named Serena . . . " she laughed nervously as she tried to hide her identity. "Oh, come on now Serena...." He unbelievingly stated, "I could recognize you anywhere! Even without you meatballs. And besides... who else would have the name Serenity Lunar?! No one, that's who!" Darien's voice stated, more harshly than he wanted to be. 'That stupid Matt! Wait till I get my hands on you..... I'll kill you!' Finally giving up, she answered exasperatedly, "Okay, Darien.... just check me up and we'll go our separate ways... then you'll see my face for the last time." "Ohh, Serena!!" Darien let out a tired sigh. "You know how broken everyone one was when you left? Your parent's couldn't stand living here in Japan anymore. They thought of you so much!! They moved out of the country!! The scouts, they don't even speak to each other anymore. And Rini!! She was all alone now!! I have to take care of her!!" Darien's voice raged, as if Rini was such a burden. "You think I really wanted to leave everyone behind? To leave my parents? My friends? You really thought it was easy for me to do that? To leave everything behind. To leave 15 years of life and start a new one? You shouldn't say anything if you don't know both sides." Serena started to feel airheaded, but she couldn't stop until she told him everything. She had to make him eat up his words. She had to tell him how hard it was for her all alone in a foreign place. She had to make him understand. So with all her pent-up anger, disappointment, and rage she went on... "You think it was easy to go to a country where you don't know any one? To not be able to speak the language? To live in the streets? Being all alone!! No one to turn to! No friends... no family... no one!!! To live a life afraid of what would come tomorrow!! I had no place to go! No one to go to! I had to scavenge around to survive! I mean, if I hadn't found . . ." Tears started to brim her eyes. She continued, "To think I went through all this pain because of you. You! Thinking about what you last said to me. Breaking my heart. Making me wonder what I did wrong. What I did to lose you. What I did that made my TRUE love not love me. It is really something. Not only the fact that you: my love of one thousand years has the nerve to tell me that he doesn't want his past, a past with me... nor does he want to have any kind of future with me! What kills me the most is that I am still in love with him after all these years... now that is really something!!!" Serena exclaimed, biting her words after she said it as she knew she went over board. "Serena . . ." Darien managed to say. Shocked and hurt by her words. "I never . . ." "Don't say anything Darien . . . I don't want to listen to you. You'll only turn it around on me and make ME hurt again . . . and believe me... I never want to be hurt again... especially not by you!!!" Serena whispered quietly with a broken voice. Then, she did the one thing that her mind yelled her to do. Run. She bolted out, and ran out of the office, hot tears running down her cheeks. The four men saw their friend running out of the building so fast, they ran after her. Darien stood numbly in the office. He leaned against the wall. Tears began to brim on his eyes. His heart broke. Knowing that he was the one that caused her so much pain, so much suffering was just something that he never wanted to do... especially to the only person who he could EVER love for eternity and beyond. "Ohh Serena, can you ever forgive me?" He asked out loud, tears trailed down his face. "Will... you... ever... forgive... me?" He asked again, his voice breaking after each word. _________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Serena ran until her lungs couldn't take it anymore. Ironically, she unconsciously led herself to the park, where she was haunted by memories of her and Darien spending most of their days together so long ago. Her head was spinning so hard. Suddenly, that lightheaded feeling caught up with her and she rammed right into someone, picking up one of her old habits. 'God! I don't need this right now!' Serena thought desperately to herself. Her knees became weak as she started to lose feeling of her legs. Unnoticing the person, she nonchalantly mumbled an apology, turning to go. But before she had a chance to move anywhere, she felt dizzy and collapsed. She expected to be welcomed by the cold, hard concrete but instead, she felt strong arms come around her. Just before she blacked out from pure fatigue, she looked up to her savior and she recognized the same beautiful, concerned eyes that she saw the first time she was in trouble and had no one to turn to. She gave him a weak smile as she slowly slipped into unconsciousness. ___________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ The four men were sitting in the waiting room as they waited for the results of Serena's check-up. Matt was sitting patiently with a worried expression plastered on his handsome face. While across from him were Zach, Nate, and Jed. Zach and Nate were attempting to drown their sorrows in a box of Dunkin' Donuts. Next to them was Jed sitting intently, with his legs crossed over each other, reading out of a Cosmopolitan magazine. Obviously, totally engrossed in a certain article. Suddenly Jed spoke up. "Hey did you guys know that women's ability to grow in height stops at a certain point in their..." he looked up to find three pairs of wide eyes fixed on him in shear surprise and amusement. "You are strange! I knew you there were something wrong with you, but this?!" Nate cried in disbelief. "What do you mean?" Jed asked innocently. "What do *I* mean?!" Nate cried loudly," you are sitting there reading Cosmos and you are asking me what *I* mean when I say that you are strange?" "What is wrong with reading Cosmos?" Jed asked incredulously. "Okay... do you want me to make a list or just name some of the top of my head?" Nate replied unbelievingly. "First... you are a man... well I'm not too sure about that now..." Before Jed had a chance to counter Nate's comment, he was silenced by a blur of yellow, which hit him like a whip on his face and out the double doors of the hospital. "Owwwie! Not again! Sere... this is twice today!" Jed complained, "and this one stings too! One day when you are asleep... I have the right mind to just chop off that naturally painful, blond whip on your head!" Quickly, the three men who were unattacked realized who it was and ran after the young petite girl. Leaving a surprised and temporarily stunned Jed on the bright orange hospital couch. Once outside, they searched for her, but they lost the nimble young girl and soon got lost because the city was so unfamiliar to them. Soon they found themselves back in the same spot they had been passing for the last hour or so. "Okay... I think we are going in circles. this isn't working!" Jed said exasperatedly. "Naw! You think?!" Nate said sarcastically. "Okay you two, that is enough!" Matt said harshly," We need to find Sere! She could be hurt or in serious danger!" "What if we go back to the hospital and find clues about what made her rush off in the first place? And if we don't find any clues over there, we can at least ask one of the nurses if they have a map of the city or something." Zach said rationally. "Okay at least we have a plan... now... do you guys remember which way the hospital was?" Matt retorted tiredly. "I think it was this way. I remember passing that telephone pole before..." Nate said pointing to his right. "You idiot! Look around... how many telephone poles do you see? Anyway, I think it was THIS way" Jed said pointing to his left. "Directions from a man who reads Cosmo? Does anybody else find something utterly wrong with that?" Nate countered. The next thing he knew he fell onto the ground, face flat. When he got up, he stared straight at Jed who was whistling innocently, a grin plastered onto his face. ____________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Demando was taking a walk in the park to clear his head from the pressures of being the CEO of Diamond Enterprises and not to mention being the Prince of the Nega-Moon Family. Then he suddenly saw stars as a blur of yellow (yep the same one that attacked Jed) nearly knocked him down. He looked up dazed as he saw a vision of a goddess. A goddess whom he once knew... a long time ago. She mumbled a tired apology and tried to walk away, but was too exhausted to go on. He quickly got underneath her and caught her swiftly as she collapsed into his strong arms. He lifted her gently and stared wondrously at her long golden mane and the long lashes that hid her beautiful blue eyes that mirrored all the love and innocence that filled her inside and out. "Hmmm. Still running into people, I see. Things never change, huh, Usa? Well at least you didn't change that much" Demando thought to himself smugly," still the same beautiful, happy girl who had a such a big heart... although I'm not too sure about the happy part." He took the goddess and carefully looked around to make sure that no one was going to see what he planned to do next. Once he was sure that there was no one around looking, he concentrated and used his powers to transport himself and his Serena to his apartment. Once at his apartment, he laid her on his large couch and began to take in all her beauty and splendor. He must have stared at her for hours, because the last time he checked the clock it was nearly six o'clock in the evening and he vaguely remembered going to the park for his walk around three o'clock in the afternoon. As he got his fill of her beauty, he stood up from his cramped position and went to the kitchen to make himself some coffee and some hot chocolate for Serena when she woke up. He remembered that she loved hot cocoa and he hoped that she still liked it as much as she had when they first met. *FLASHBACK* Demando had gone back to the past to study and research the behavior of the humans so that he could anticipate any of their actions during a time when they didn't know anything about the dark moon family. So he was walking the streets of America, as they called it: the land of the free. He scoffed at that, since it was a slight paradox to the real world in which these Americans lived in. He was walking around the bad neighborhoods of a rather large town, and it was nearing dusk. Suddenly he heard a scream from an ally way nearby. Then, a split-second later, a mass of yellow and blue hit him head on... Later, when he regained some consciousness, he wanted to see who had the nerve to cross paths with the Prince of the Dark Moon Family! Whoever it was would certainly feel his wrath! But when he looked up to see a pair of the bluest, most beautiful eyes that he had ever seen, he rethought out his intentions. He searched them and found that they were sincerely concerned about something... 'God! she is beautiful! Her eyes are so mesmerizing... Wait what is it that she feels... could it be concern? Concern... for... for ME?! It can't be!' Demando thought confusedly, 'Why would such a girl care so much for a complete stranger!' He stood up carefully and pulled her up as well. He noticed that a small blush had crept upon her lovely complexion as she realized the position in which they were. "What would make such a beautiful girl like you, run so fast! Is the world ending or something?" Demando commented ironically. He smiled as her beautiful, ivory skin was painted with yet a redder color. "I'm sorry... I was just trying to get away from some people. They stole my bag, my money... everything!" Anger raged within him. To think that somebody actually tried to hurt this beautiful goddess... 'Oh, whoever hurt you... they will pay!' Demando promised to himself. Then he looked back to her and he recognized fatigue in her entrancing eyes. "Why don't you join me for dinner, then I'll help you look for your stolen things... You must be hungry... " Demando inquired. "Starved!" Serena exclaimed. "How does pizza sound?" Demando suggested. "Ohhhhhhhhhh, pizza!? that sounds really good!" Serena exclaimed as she brightened up a smudge. Demando looked at the bright angel next to him as they walked to the nearest pizza parlor, he marveled at how quickly she could go from completely devastated to utterly happy. *END FLASHBACK* And now, from the kitchen, he could hear her breathing rhythmically. He watched her sleeping peacefully and was again enthralled by her beauty. After a while, he recognized the path of her burning tears that were upon her face. 'She was hurt by someone... hurt deeply by someone... someone who is going to pay for his or her insolence!' Demando thought vengefully, "Usa, can you hear me? Whoever hurt you will pay dearly! I will never let anyone hurt you again!' __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Meanwhile, the four generals had finally made it to the hospital after a very kind lady finally led the right way. 'It's a good thing that my speaking abilities in Japanese are still in tact. We would have been wandering the whole day if that old lady hadn't given us directions!' Zach thought thankfully. When they finally arrived at the hospital, they decided to ask all the nurses and the doctor who treated her. After they drilled all the nurses, and came up with nothing except the fact that she was a little pale when she met the doctor, they decided to give the doctor the third-degree as well. As they waited patiently in the small office, Matt swept the room with his eyes, hoping to find some information on the doctor before they actually met him. They had made an unexpected appointment with the good doctor hoping to find out what made Sere run out so fast. 'My god! This man has no life! His office is so bare. There's not even a picture of anyone on his desk! No family. No siblings. No girlfriend.' Matt thought inwardly, then his eyes fell on a bookshelf right behind the door. In the corner of the shelf, behind a big plant, there was a dusty picture of a happy young girl with blond hair. ' Well, scratch that last one... I think. Oh, my! She looks like Sere! I wonder who she is? This can't be her... Sere always has her odangos on and her eyes are much bluer and more beautiful than these...' he turned away from the picture and took a seat in front of the desk. On the desk there was a plaque that read, "Dr. Darien Chiba." Matt racked his brain because the name sounded so familiar... Suddenly, the door opened revealing the handsome, dark-haired doctor. He looked around the room eyeing the four men of whom he had an appointment with. The four men looked at him, none of them recognizing him. Only Matt and Zach saw something familiar in the man who was now sitting in the leather chair before them, but said nothing of it. "So, gentlemen... you wished to speak with me?" Dr. Chiba stated coolly. "Yes." Matt replied snapping out of his reverie. "Yes... we want to talk about a patient that came to see you this afternoon." "Um... I'm sorry, but that is strictly confidential." Dr. Chiba stated matter-of-factly. "Yes, but she was our friend and..." Nate began. "She?" the doctor asked interestedly. "What was her name?" "Seren...ity Lunar." Zach said calmly, almost calling her by her real name. "Please, sir, could you tell us what happened in the office to make her so upset. Please... we need to find her. She means a lot to us." Matt said with a voice almost broken with the raw desperation that he felt. Darien was taken aback at his words. 'This man must care a lot about Serena. God! Oh Serena, this is all my fault! I drove you straight into another man's arms... oh Serena, How am I going to get you back? I love you so much... I wish you knew. I wish I could tell you somehow...' "Um... I don't know. Why do you ask?" Dr. Chiba asked regaining his composure. "Well, we were just sitting out in the waiting room and she came running out. We've been looking for her all afternoon, and now we still don't know where she is and since we are new in this town... we aren't' exactly familiar with these streets and we have no idea where she might be." Jed informed him. "And she looked like she was crying too." Zach added. 'Oh Serena! Where did you run off too? Are you hurt? If you are in any danger because of me.... I'll never be able to forgive myself!' "Um... sorry... I don't know what could have made her upset and run off like that." Darien said. Then a cold voice in his head countered, 'You are lying through your teeth, buster! You were the cause of her pain... ALL of her pain! All her sorrow!!' "Okay... then could you help us find her?" Matt asked desperately." Like my friend said: we are new in town and we don't know our way around." "I'm sorry... but I have a lot of work to do." Darien retorted. 'and I'll have easier time finding her myself with Tuxedo Kamen's help.' "Wait!" Matt pleaded, "Well, at least if you see her... tell her that we will be staying at the Diamond Inn on 17th Street in downtown Tokyo." Then Darien added," I hope that you do find your friend... Ms. Lunar." ____________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Demando was sleeping soundly in his bedroom when he heard a blood curdling scream from the figure lying in his living room. He quickly jumped out of his bed and ran into the next room. He rushed into the room and jumped onto the couch and held a very frightened Usa in his arms. She was trembling slightly as she held on tightly to Demando. "It's okay Usa. It's okay... I'm here." Demando chanted over and over soothingly still holding her tightly. "What happened?" Whimpering she slowly answered," I had a really, really bad dream!" "That would normally be called a nightmare." Demando joked trying to lighten her mood. "What was it about?" he said "Oh... well... um... nothing important," Serena stammered not really wanting to talk about Darien right now, especially after their recent meeting at the hospital, "What are you doing in Japan? The last time I saw you, you were in America," Sere said gently getting out of Demando's embrace. "Just here for business... What about you? You said that you never wanted to come back to Japan ever... what changed?" Demando said ignorant about Darien and Sere's real reason for leaving Japan. The only thing Demando was aware of was that something so devastating drove Sere out of her familiar life in Japan. But he had no idea what it was... or rather who it was. "Well, some friends helped me get my priorities straight. They helped me to face my fears...and here I am... " Serena replied. "So... do you bump into complete strangers often?" Demando asked jokingly. "You don't know how many times! But you aren't exactly a complete stranger... now are you?!" Serena said accusingly. "Well, I guess not... but I was the first time you bumped into me!" Demando pointed out walking to the kitchen. "Yeah... but that was before and this is now..." Serena stated matter-of-factly. "Do you want some hot cocoa?" Demando asked her. "Mmmmmmmmmmm, hot cocoa. I love hot cocoa!!" Serena exclaimed, happy that he stilled remembered that after all these years. "Here you go..." Demando said handing her the hot cocoa. "Thank you." Sere said. "Thank you for what?... the hot chocolate?" Demando asked wistfully. "For always being there to be my crying shoulder. For being my ear who always listens to me and my problems. For just being there for me in my dark times... For everything that you did for me before... and for everything you are doing of me now..." Serena pointed out, "And most importantly... this hot chocolate!" "Sure Usa! anything for you! Absolutely ANYTHING!" Demando replied sincerely while chuckling heartily. But he knew it was true, he would do absolutely *anything* for her . . . ______________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Meanwhile, Darien transformed into Tuxedo Kamen and he searched the whole city for his love. Unfortunately, his link with Serena was weak and it was as if her whole power had changed. He could still feel something that closely resembled Serena and he was sure that it was her... but the power stream was different... it was stronger. 'I can sense her... she is safe... well with someone whom she trusts. That is a good thing. But it doesn't feel like her... not the way she used to feel... this aura... it feels... stronger?! More powerful somehow! Serena, what happened to you while you were gone?' Tuxedo Kaman searched all over for Serena, but he could not find her anywhere. He looked everywhere that she would be, everywhere that they had been together before. 'Fool!' A voice in his head insulted. 'It's your fault! She could be anywhere! She could be hurt! She could be dead!' 'NO! she is not dead... besides... she can take care of herself. She has been taking care of herself all this time... and she is still alive and well!' His mind replied. A harsh voice in his head countered, 'You dolt! She HAD to take care of herself because you drove her away!' That made Darien cringe as he remembered his stinging words to Serena and her tears falling freely down her face. 'Yes, she is alive, but are you sure that she is well? She had such a high fever! You're a doctor, you should have seen it and anticipated the consequences! You should have treated her better in the past and when she came to you for the check-up... no matter what! What is your problem anyway? How can you be so cold-hearted?! After all these years, you just had to break your heart again. YOU JUST HAD TO, ne?' Guilt filled him once more. After hours of searching all over for her, he finally called it quits. He could not find her at all. He did not like the idea of not knowing where Serena was, but the idea that he could still feel her presence in a safe and protected environment comforted him slightly. He detransformed and looked at his watch. "Damn, I'm late for my date with Katherine." He cursed under his breath. 'Katherine? Why the HELL are you thinking about her when Serena could be hurt?!' The voice inside of him angrily pointed out. He felt a wave of guilt hit him once more as he tried to block his thoughts about *her* as he headed out of the cold, lamp lit park filled with young lovers who were taking evening walks as they enjoyed the company of each other. Darien once again sighed guiltily as he was reminded of the happy days of his relationship with Serena... when they would go out on evening walks in the park. 'Kami! How I miss her!' ____________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ "Where could that girl be?" Nate exclaimed, as he paced around the room once more. After their meeting with Dr. Chiba, the four generals retired to their hotel room at the Diamond Inn. They had made their way to the inn, after they had searched for Serena some more. "I don't know! We are as clueless and worried as you are! Maybe if you looked for her with that weird fascination with the stars of yours, instead of pacing around the room and wondering OUT LOUD where she could be every five minutes, we could actually find her!!" Jed exclaimed. "And stop pacing... you are wearing a ditch in the floor! Plus you are making me nervous!" "Hey! Mr. Cosmopolitan is getting nervous... ohhhhh... Don't even start with me! I can be worried if I want to!" Nate replied angrily as he resumed his pacing. The three groaned again as they watch Nate pace around again. "And I can pace all I want! no matter how big the ditch gets!" Nate retorted after them. "That doctor . . . he seemed so familiar . . ." Matt thought out loud breaking the silence. " As if I know him from somewhere ..." "So I wasn't the only one." Zach said in union. "Do you think he knows Rena but didn't want to reveal it? He could be from the Negaverse!" " Maybe... I'm not sure . . . but Sere wouldn't have acted that way ... unless..." Matt kept on thinking. "Did you see the way he zoned out when we talked about her?" Jed asked. "Hmm, Mr. Cosmopolitan actually has something constructive to contribute? Wow! All those years of subscription finally helping?" Nate announced, as he stopped his pacing. Then he added more seriously, "By the way, did you notice how he looked?... so guilty. His eyes gave him away... Hmm, I say that we go back to the good doctor and make him spill everything he knows! Not literally, of course... not unless we have to." Nate exclaimed. "Umm hmmm." The other three agreed. "Umm, one problem... Do any of you remember the way to the hospital?" Matt asked. They all groaned. __________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ "Mmm, thanks, Demando." Serena said as she finished her hot cocoa. "I should be going, knowing my friends... they would be searching the whole earth, for me twice over! I just hope Matt doesn't kill me when I get there! Sometimes he is so over protective of me!" "Usa, you are still quite ill and weak. Why don't you stay here until you get better? You still feel a little warm... I don't want you to faint in the middle of the streets again." Demando replied. 'Who is this Matt?' he asked himself jealously. "But . . ." "No buts Usa. Now you rest, ne?" Demando suggested. "Where are you going?" Sere asked curiously. "Hmmm... well still as curious as cat!" Demando added kindly, "Nowhere Usa... Nowhere. I'll be right here... whenever you need me." "Okay, okay. I'll rest for a while... How you always manage to make me change my mind is beyond me!" She said as she gave him a warm smile. "But afterwards... you and I are taking a walk in the park, mister! I need some fresh air after being cooped up indoors this whole time! "Okay Usa... You rest and I promise to take you to the park afterwards... Deal?" Demando asked defeatedly. "Deal!" Serena said excitedly, but soon drifted of to sleep as her fatigue caused by everything that she endured that day caught up with her. ___________________________________________________________ ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ Darien had found his "girlfriend" sitting down on a bench in the park. When she caught sight of him, she stealthily stood up and gave him a tight hug, which only went one way. Darien just stood there and received the affectionate hug stiffly and unenthusiastically. "Hi, Katherine." Darien greeted her stiffly. "Hi, yourself!" Katherine replied enthusiastically, unnoticing the stiffness in his voice and his actions. "You are late! What held you up?" "Um... I had a patient to take care of... " Darien retorted. 'I'm not exactly lying... Serena did come in as a patient...' "Oh... is your patient okay now?" Katherine asked wondrously. "Um... I'm not sure... I still have to do some more tests." Darien replied. "Oh... Well do you want something to eat? It is still early... we could go out for dinner or something... What do you think?" Katherine suggested hopefully. "Um... Katherine... I can't..." Darien started. "Okay what about some other time then... I can see that you had a rough day... some other time, okay?" Katherine replied. "No! Katherine... I... I... What I'm trying to say is that... well I don't think that we can ever go out... ever! I think it is best if we shouldn't see each other anymore." Darien said, finally managing the words out of his mouth. "What? Darien, you don't really mean that! Do you?" Katherine replied, her voice was barely even a whisper. Daja-vu flashed through his eyes . . . *FLASHBACK* "Serena, I think it is best if we don't see each other anymore." Darien said, to the blond. He knew he didn't mean it though. With all his heart, he only wished to grab her and hold her into his arms and tell her not to worry about anything! He loved her so much. 'God! I want to be with her forever and beyond.' "Darien . . . you don't mean that." She replied. Her voice was cracking as she tried hard not to cry. "What about our past?" She whispered. "We are destined to be together... FOREVER!!" "Serena! Stop it! I don't love you anymore! I don't want to live in the past! I'm tired of my past ruling my present and my future!!" Darien exclaimed. Tears fell from Serena's eyes. Stinging both Serena and himself. God! did he just tell her that he stopped loving her? He could never stop loving her. Never. *END OF FLASHBACK* Darien cringed at the memory. He was doing the same thing all over again. Except this time with Katherine, it was so much more bearable... almost easy. But one thing was different with his break up with Katherine... he never loved her... and he knew that he never will. There was only one person for him... His one true love... The light of his life... SERENA. "I'm sorry Katherine." Darien replied quietly. "Why? Please tell me why." She pleaded. He knew he owed her this much to tell her why. He needed to tell her the truth . . . he didn't tell Serena why and look where that led him. . . "Because . . . I love someone else . . . I've always loved her, and I will ALWAYS love her . . ." He told her truthfully. "Why did you decide to get together with me though?" Katherine asked desperately. "Because, I needed to forget her. You look so much like her . . . I'm so sorry Katherine if I lead you on . . ." "I get it." She replied coldly. Her voice then became soft. "As long as you introduce me to her later on... I'll be happy. I'd like to meet the girl who made the great Dr. Darien Chiba fall in love." "I'm sorry Katherine." "Yes, I know you are. Good-bye Darien." She said, as she walked off, away from him. He didn't see the tears that flowed down her cheeks as she said her final good-bye to him. Darien stood still, watching her leave and wondering quietly to himself. 'Where could you be Serena? I want to tell you so much... tell you that I still love you... and that I never stopped loving you!' he thought. Suddenly, strong arms grabbed him, and yanked him into the dark alley. Darien finally got them off of him as he turned around to see the four generals. "Who are you? What do you want?" Darien growled as he slipped his hand inside his jacket slowly fingering a rose. 'Just in case...' He thought. "We thought that it was about time you should tell us the truth, Doctor Chiba." Matt's voice stated coldly. "You four again? I told you, I don't know anything about Serena Tsukino!" He exclaimed, as he bit his lip as he realized that he had a slight slip of the tongue. "How did you know her name? I remember clearly that we called her Serenity Lunar... Now confess before we *make* you tell us!" Zach retorted angrily. ^.^ forever yours forever yours forever yours forever yours ^.^ END OF CHAPTER 1 Matt, Nate, Zach, and Jed... oh my! Is Darien in for it! What will happen to Darien?
