~~Okay people, this is my first fanfic ever, so I'd like your opinions and constructive criticsm, so email me at fairychan@aol.com, okay?? The story begins in Crystal Tokyo, the future. It's mostly about Sailor Pluto becuz she's my favorite Senshi. I've only used Japanese names becuz the American TV show sucks. This story is based on Naoko Takeuchi's characters, they're her copyright and everything. Rated PG The Guardian of Time and Her Secrets - Chapter 1 by Fairysetsuna The lovely princess of Pluto examnined her outfit in front of the mirror. The ball at the Crystal Palace would begin in 2 hours, and she needed to get there early. Setsuna noticed a pink halo glowing behind her, and then a small pink-haired child popped out. "Puu!" she giggled. She curtsied to her. Setsuna laughed. It was ChibiUsa, the princess. Her nickname for ChibiUsa was "Small Lady". "Hello, Small Lady. Shouldn't you be getting ready for the ball with your mother?" "Yeah, but mommy and daddy don't know I'm here!" she grinned mischieviously. "Small lady..." Setsuna scolded lightly. "Puu, let me brush your pretty hair, please?" ChibiUsa pleaded. "It's so soft and pretty." Setsuna smiled. "Sure, princess." They sat down on the elegant little loveseat, and ChibiUsa called out to her Luna Ball. "Luna Ball...I want a pretty brush to brush Puu's hair!" The Luna Ball made a small *POP* and a pink and silver brush came out of nowhere. ChibiUsa started brushing Setsuna's hair. The little princess had always loved to do this, and poor Setsuna had suffered sometimes when ChibiUsa played Hairdresser with the dignified Setsuna as her only customer. They had little talks with each other...sometimes it seemed to Setsuna that her only *real* friend was Small Lady. All the other Sailor Senshi were good friends, especially the Inner Soldiers. Sailor Neptune and Uranus usually kept to themselves. "Puu...?" "Yes?" "How come you never hang out with the other Soldiers? I always see you by yourself." The older princess sighed. This was a painful question for her, and she asked herself this all the time. "You wouldn't understand, Small Lady...you're too young." ChibiUsa's face scrunched up in a frown. "Everyone always says I'm too little for lots of things." ChibiUsa fell quiet again, and there was silence hanging in the dark room. The truth was something that hurt Setsuna a lot. She was the soldier of Time, and it was her destiny to guard the Gates of Time, so no evil could cross dimensions or anything like that. That was a lonely job for her, but she'd been alive for thousands of years, doing this. She was used to it. But yet she never got to live a normal life. She never got to have a best friend, or fall in love...never. It was her destiny to be alone. Setsuna blinked several times to stop the tears. She shouldn't cry like a baby. Maybe it was a good thing to be alone. The Luna Ball began beeping and ChibiUsa picked it up. She pressed the nose of the ball's face, and the eyes lit up. It was like a small TV screen in the Luna Ball's eyes. "Uh-oh," she sighed, when she saw the person on the screen was her father. "I'm busted." The usually dignified King Endymion looked like a wreck. "ChibiUsa! Where have you been?!" he demanded. "I was at Puu's palace, papa..." The king sighed. "You know better than to run off without telling anyone! And you shouldn't bother Setsuna so much." "I'm sorry, papa..." "Well, come home right now, young lady, you'll see Setsuna soon enough at the ball, all right?" "Ok, papa." The Luna Ball's eyes returned to normal. Setsuna patted ChibiUsa's head. "You better get going." "Bye, Puu!" the little princess waved as she teleported back to the Crystal Palace. "Good-bye..." ***** Pluto gazed out the huge glass window in the downstairs parlor of her mansion. She could see in the distance, the bright light of Earth. Ever since Usagi--no, Serenity ascended to the throne, everything in the solar system had its own shining light. All the Senshi of the planets in the solar system ruled their planets as princesses. The palaces were decorated according to their powers and personalities. Setsuna's home was dark and lonely. It had an old Gothic style...whereas Princess Venus's palace was bright and there were many windows to let sunlight in. Another reason why Setsna was isolated- she ruled the last planet, Pluto. It was the smallest and furthest away from everyone else. She called on a little speaker to her assistant, Charon, to tell her she was ready to go to the Crystal Palace. Charon arrived in the parlor several minutes later. She was a little younger than Pluto, and she looked a little like the princess. Charon had long dark green hair, but not as long as Setsuna's, and she didn't wrap it in a bun. "Your highness, the carriage is ready for you." Setsuna nodded and walked outside. Pluto's sky was different than that of Earth's. The sky was a gray color, with streaks of lavendar and pale green. The clouds were dark blue. She stepped in the modern carriage and Charon followed her. In the vehicle, Charon turned on a little computer screen and typed in the destination, Crystal Tokyo. She entered pressed a few more keys, then the carriage was ready to go. The ride was very short, since technology had vastly improved over the years. Other hovercrafts were in front of the huge palace, dropping off guests. She spotted Michiru, princess of Neptune, and Haruka, princess of Uranus stepping out of a carriage. They always seemed to be together. Charon and Setsuna stepped out of the carriage too and they walked up the marble steps. The guards stood at the sides of the giant crystal doors. As they were escorted through the hallway by a maid, ChibiUsa ran up to Setsuna and hugged her around the waist. "Puu!" she giggled. "You're here!" "Hello, Small Lady." They walked to the ballroom, where ChibiUsa grabbed Setsuna's hand and nearly yanked it off when she pulled her to the King and Queen. Queen Serenity had certainly matured from a whining, lazy teenager to a great and just ruler. She sat on a golden and crystal throne. Her husband, the king sat next to her. King Endymion and Queen Serenity smiled and rose from their thrones to greet Princess Pluto. "Good evening, your majesties," Setsuna curtsied. "How are you?" "Just fine, thank you. I'm sorry for Princess Serenity's intrusion earlier." "It's perfectly all right. I enjoy having her around." "Mommy, Setsuna's palace is fun! There are lots of good places to hide for hide and go seek!" Endymion picked his daughter up and she sat on his lap. He spoke to Setsuna. "Princess Pluto, Ami may have some good news for you regarding the Gates of Time, she was being very secretive of it, though. I suggest you ask her whenever you see her." "Certainly, your highness." Setsuna curtsied again, and walked away. She found her name on a place card at the long table where the guests were supposed to sit. Charon sat down to righ tof her, ChibiUsa's seat was to the left. About twenty minutes later, everyone sat down. The servants beagn bringing out some appetizers. There was, however, one seat missing. Princess Mercury still had not arrived. That's odd, Setsuna thought to herself. Usually Mercury was on time. But she quickly turned to Queen Serenity, for she was going to make a speech. Queen Serenity stood up and smiled gently. "Good evening, princesses and guests. I have wonderful news concerning Princess Venus." Everyone turned and looked at Minako, who was smiling as well. Queen Serenity continued. "The princess of Venus is now engaged to Lord Phoebus." The guests clapped for Minako. She blushed and said, "Thank you." Lord Phoebus...he was a demi-god, his father being Apollo, the god of light. Minako had been seeing him for a year or so now. Setsuna was silent while the other princesses asked Minako excited questions about the wedding, engagement, etc. She was happy for Princess Venus, but she also wondered what it was like to be in love, like the king and queen, or Minako and Phoebus. Ami still hadn't arrived and hour later. The meal was over, and people were eating dessert. Setsuna could hear the queen asking Rei where Ami was, but Rei had no idea. She shrugged. "I don't know, your majesty. It's very unlike her to miss an event at the palace." Queen Serenity had a worried look on her face. She and Princess Mercury had been good friends for a long time, and she was the first senshi SailorMoon found. But then the lights in the ballroom began flickering. Suddenly the doors were smashed open with a loud CRACKKKKK. A voice screamed out...the voice belonged to Ami! Queen Serenity ran towards the broken wooden doors, but her husband held her back. "WHERE IS THE GUARDIAN OF TIME?!?!?!" a different voice yelled. Setsuna's eyes widened. What was going on...?? TO BE CONTINUED
