Prince Endymion cuppee her smooth cheek in his palm. "I'm sorry, I really am. But I must help save your kingdom-- even if my own has been devastated. Please. Forgive me." Tears began to stream down her face. "No, you'll be killed. Everyone's been killed-- you can't leave me!" She sobbed. "Endymion, please, don't leave me..." He kissed her, smiling gently in the face of such danger. "Serenity, I'll always love you. Please, don't be selfish, you know I must." She nodded silently, but her tears did not stop. "I love you, Endymion," she whispered to the wind as he ran for the battle that took place, raging, just outside the palace walls. The cries of soldiers meeting death fell upon her deaf ears, for she only heard and saw her lover. She watched from her balcany as he met with Beryl. He must have said something, but she didn't hear it. But the battle stopped as Beryl screamed her reply, and it was heard all around. "Silly prince! You think you'll win! After I kill you, I'll take your silly princess next!" She cackled with laughter that made the princess flinch. Her mind froze as she saw the black power lash out... And then her world shattered. "ENDYMIOOOOOON!" She didn't know how she got there. All she knew, was that a second later, she was there-- beside him. "Endymion... no.. don't leave me..." He looked up at her, his midnight eyes full of pain. "My princess... if it takes a thousand years... I'll be with you again..." She gasped as his heart stopped, and a part of her just vanished. She didn't even feel the blow that Beryl dealt upon her grief striken body. All she felt was the empty, colorless void. "I love you, Endymion. Yes, we'll be together again. I swear..." @>--;---- A thousand years, a thousand more, A thousand times a million doors to eternity I may have lived a thousand lives, a thousand times An endless turning stairway climbs To a tower of souls If it takes another thousand years, a thousand wars, The towers rise to numberless floors in space I could shed another million tears, a million breaths, A million names but only one truth to face @>--;---- Usagi Tsukino glared at the tall college student before her, her crumpled up test paper in his hand. "Wow, Odango Atama. A thirty percent. You should be very proud." He announced loudly. "You jerk! Give me that back!" She grabbed for the paper, but he held it out of her reach. "Uh-uh, Odango Atama. I think a bullentin board would be a wonderful place for this." His voice was heavy with sarcasm. She growled at him. "My name," She said, her voice full of venom. "Is Tsukino Usagi. You'll give me that paper, you creepazoid. Now." She said. "Now, I think you owe me an apology. I could have gotten a concussion, or something." "You could not! It's a piece of paper! Or are you that much of a pansy?" His eyes flashed. "Well, at least I know enough to make a passing grade." "I was late to class! And I don't have to be smart-- oh, man, Okaasan is gonna kill me..." She groaned, her eyes filling with tears. "You are such a jerk!" She looked up at him, something in the very back of her mind going, "Oh, man, Usagi! Check him out! You're insulting the cutest guy in Tokyo!" She shoved the thought out of her mind immediatly. 'He's not cute at all, he's a jerk.' She hadn't the slightest clue that the exact smae denial was running through Mamoru's mind. Mamoru stared at the close-to-tears girl in front of him, and smirked. A perfect front as he tossed the paper to her. "Here you go, Odango Atama. You can have your paper, I'm sure your okaa-san would love to see it, you know." She glared at him as he chuckled and turned on his heel. 'She's really beautiful when she's angry.' 'Is not.' He continued to lie to himself as he walked into the Crown Arcade. @>--;---- A million roads, a million fears A million suns, ten million years of uncertainty I could speak a million lies, a million songs, A million rights, a million wrongs in this balance of time But if there was a single truth, a single light A single thought, a singular touch of grace Then following this single point , this single flame, The single haunted memory of your face @>--;---- Usagi slumped against the side of the building, her mind racing with denial. "You're joking... right? Is this April Fool's Day? Mamo-chan... you can't be..." "I'm serious, Usagi-chan. I do not love you anymore. Leave it be!" He shouted. His heart broke as a tear streamed down the side of her face. He longed to reach out and kiss it away, tell her he was an idiot, that he didn't mean it. "But how, Mamo-chan? I thought you'd love me forever. You promised." She said softly. Yell at me, he urged her mentally. Hit me. Tell me I'm the scum of the earth. "That was a thousand years ago, Usagi. Be sensible. Things have changed-- you're only fourteen years old. I'm nineteen-- I can't be tied down to a teenager!" She felt like she'd been slapped. Of course she was young-- they'd discussed this before. Agreed that nothing would happen until she was older... "But Mamo-chan, we're destined." "We *were* destined. Usagi, it's ridiculous to try to relive the past! I just don't love you anymore!" She whimpered, and he wanted to crawl up and die, right then and there. "Okay." She whispered. What? Okay? He yelled silently. No, Usako! You're supposed to be mad, angry! Don't let me do this, dammit! "Be sensible. I mean, maybe later, we could be friends, or something." "Alright. I understand." "Good." He said, and turned to walk away. "I'll always love you, though. Even if you don't love me." Her whisper made him whince. No... she wasn't supposed to accept it... @>--;---- I still love you I still want you A thousand times the mysteries unfold themselves Like galaxies in my head @>--;---- She shouted at one who'd stolen her love away. Even through everything he'd put her thought, she still had enough faith in his love to save his world once more. And it was Wiseman's fault that the mess had happened in the first place, it was the only way she could justify anything-- the only way any of it could ever be right inside her mind, which had been fooled with enough in the past few days as it was-- she needed no one to explain it to her, they'd bring out something she couldn't stand to face. Something that told her he hadn't a good reason. She whinced as she felt Wiseman's power overwhelm her own. "I tried, Mamo-chan..." "No! Ginzuishou, give me the power to save my mother, my world!" The shout came from the five-year old princess, who held up the gem of the future, letting it's power morph her into a mimic of her mother. Usagi couldn't help but smile at Wiseman's fristrated cry as her daughter's potential was added to her own, opening a new tide to the power. Gradually, it seemed, as time slowed to a shadow of a crawl, the two deitys, Earth and Moon, began to make the Blackness back down. And then, like a crashing wave, she felt the drain hit her. She saw her daughter whince, and new it must also be taking it's toll on the small girl. Using the very last of her strength, she constructed a barrier around the girl, so that the drain hit her instead of Chibi- usa. And did it ever. As Wiseman let out a final howl of defeat and left for the hells of his destiny, Serenity collpasped into the black void that had claimed so her many times... "You can't leave again, not this time." It was the softest of whispers, from someone who knew that speaking loudly didn't always mean you were heard. "But I want to." She whispered, letting the source of her power roll from her limp hand as her physical form collasped to the cold stone of Wicked Lady's stage. "You must live.. for them... you need to go back... your fight isn't yet over." A single tear made it's way down her pale, cold cheek, and a hand stopped it's course. "Aishiteru, Usako. Come back to me." The words came from miles away... and she smiled gently. "You see, he loves you. Go back. Until death do you part, my princess, but yet, death cannot part you from him. Remember this..." The voice grew fainter as the sounds of her senshi and her lover became louder. "Aishiteru Mamo-chan..." She whispered. "I won, Mamo-chan. We won... Chibi-usa won..." "Aishiteru, Usako. I love you." @>--;---- I may be numberless, I may be innocent I may know many things, I may be ignorant Or I could ride with kings and conquer many lands Or win this world at cards and let it slip my hands I could be cannon food, destroyed a thousand times Reborn as fortune's child to judge another's crimes Or wear this pilgrim's cloak, or be a common thief I've kept this single faith, I have but one belief I still love you I still want you A thousand times the mysteries unfold themselves Like galaxies in my head On and on the mysteries unwind themselves Eternities still unsaid 'Til you love me @>--;---- That's it.
