Well, on with the story!!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To Lose Love- Part Three by Acacia Aben ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Three Serena plopped her purse on the table with Jennie following suit right after. "We're back!" Serena yelled. It had been two months since Serena had first moved there. Last Monday had been the last day of both their senior year. Jennie and Serena had gotten very close quickly, and were good friends. It had been very hard for Serena at first, being from Japan, and she hadn't understood a lot of things, but school had been easier, if not in English. Lance and Jennie had helped her out a lot, explaining things to her, and helping her with her English work. The good thing was that she was very good at English, and her language that she had been told to take was easy. She had taken Japanese. The principal had said it was only fair, since she had to take English. She had been the best student in the class. It had felt good to be the best at something. She had gotten only one 'B' in all of her grades. She didn't think about Darien very much now, only at night, and at quiet moments during the day. At those times she would sober up, and stare into space blankly, thinking of nothing but him, and everyone would notice the change in her. Jennie had tried to talk to her, but Serena had blown her off, pretending not to know what she has been talking about. Jennie had contracted Lance for the job also, and they had tried to talk to her about it, but she refused to mention anything about her life before meeting Lance. Lisa had tried, but she had failed miserably too. They had seemed to give up, and Serena had been very grateful. She just didn't want to remember Darien, to forget she loved him. But it was hard. It was nine in the morning, and Serena and Jennie had gone to the local bakery to get donuts. Lisa came out of the kitchen. "Great! We get donuts for breakfast. Thank you both for getting them." Serena smiled and Jennie made a face. "We didn't have much choice when you threatened us with death if we didn't go get them," Jennie complained, and Serena started to laugh. Lisa pretended to get mad. "You both get you butts to your seats, you hear me?" They we chased into the dining room, and fell into their chairs laughing loudly. Tommy rolled his eyes at them. He was used to having them act crazy. As Lance had told Serena, he didn't live there, he had his own apartment that he shared with some buddies, but he stopped by all the time to eat and talk. Lance had come over for breakfast, even though he could buy the donuts with his own money. He smiled at Serena and Jennie, grinning at their ridiculous actions. Serena felt like one of the family. Lisa walked into the room, holding a plate full of donuts from the local bakery, Mammy's Cakes and Stuff, which were homemade, and very famous in the small town. Serena and Jennie, Tommy, and sometimes even Lance were called upon to go by and get some to eat for breakfast. Serena smiled and her mouth watered at the sight of the delicious treats, but then a familiar sensation developed. Serena felt sick. She jumped up from her seat, and covered her mouth, while running to the bathroom. The second she reached the toilet, she threw up violently. For the next couple of minutes she sat in front of the toilet, puking her guts up. When the sickness vanished, she was aware of Lisa rubbing her back for her. "Thanks Lisa. I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I've been getting sick for the past week on and off." She gave Lisa a wobbly smile. Lisa gave a preoccupied half-smile. She looked hesitant. "I'm not sure if I should mention this, but promise you won't get mad if I'm wrong, okay?" Serena was a little confused. She nodded. "Sure, I promise. What is it?" Lisa looked unsure, but she plunged on. "Could you be pregnant?" Serena froze. Darien and she had. . .but Rene wasn't supposed to be born for years. They hadn't believed that she could get pregnant yet. But she had missed, and morning sickness . . . She swallowed hard, and a numbness enveloped her. "Yes, but we- I. . . I just can't be pregnant. It's not possible. This wasn't supposed to happen. Lisa, what am I going to do?" Lisa looked sad now, but somehow happy. Excited. "We'll take you to the doctor first thing, right after we eat. You've went before, when you had that check-up, so it should be no problem." Serena nodded. "Oh, but what if I am? What will I do?" Lisa shook her head. "We. What will we do. All of us think of you as a family. You won't be alone. You're part of our family, whether you like it or not." Serena blinked back tears. "Thank you." Her voice broke, so sad and happy at the same time. She had left one family, and heartbreak, hopelessness, to find another family. She had been given a new start. Lisa shook her head again. "No, thank you for having us." And she meant it. With all her heart. @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ Serena sat with Jennie and Lisa in the doctor's office. Tommy had waited at home. The doctor had gone to get the results of the test, and would be back any second. "I'm scared," Serena whispered. "How would I do with a baby? I took care of Rene, but she kind of, well, hated me at first, until- ah, never mind." Lisa gave her a hug. "You'll be a wonderful mother. You have the biggest heart I've ever seen, you love without reservation. And if you aren't sure, there is always adoption." She held her breath until she heard Serena's vehement answer. "NO!! If I'm pregnant, I would NEVER give it up. Never. I already love the idea. Me, a mother! But I'm still scared." Lisa looked anxious, but excited. She had said she loved babies. The doctor knocked on the door, then walked in. "Serena, I have the results," he announced. She started to tremble. "What are they?" He smiled at her proudly. "You, Serena Tsukino, are going to a mother!" All my nervousness about the future, and everything else, all came together in happiness. No matter that she and Darien had broken up, she loved him, and at this moment, she was so happy she couldn't focus on problems. That was her moment, and she was overjoyed. "Wow," was all she could get out. Lisa and Jennie swept her up in big bear hugs, laughing hysterically, her laughter joining theirs. They looked like fools, but Dr. Martin, was smiling at them, and laughing at their antics. @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ It was four months after Serena had found out she was pregnant, and at that time, she had been two months pregnant, so now she was six months pregnant. Her stomach was rounded noticeably, and enough that she needed to wear maternity clothes. She had been confused about exactly how she could be pregnant, then had realized that no one had actually said Rene was an only child, they had just assumed so. "Can I have some cake?" She called from the couch. "I feel like cake!" Also, she got to eat whatever she wanted, and people would give it to her because of the urge and need to eat. That was a definite plus. Jennie poked her face into the room. "Just a second. Jeez, you're a pig!!" She said teasingly. "Maybe some of that weight will stay once you have the baby." Serena thought of her glimpse of Neo-Queen Serenity, her future self. She had been very thin. "I don't think so! I'm lucky that way." Jennie made a face at her. "You're probably right. That's just not fair. I dislike that." Jennie's sense of humor was strange, and it amused her to no end when she insulted someone, and they didn't even realize it. It also annoyed her in some cases, but she didn't mind most of the time. She was a little chubby. Not fat, and it was hard to notice, but Jennie dreaded wearing a bathing suit. Serena rolled her eyes at the joke that most people wouldn't have caught. "Very funny. When can I have my cake?" Jennie came in rolling her eyes. "I hate being your servant. If I wanted to feed people I'd become a chef." Serena blinked in surprise, and to keep back the memories. Lita had wanted to be a chef. It had been her dream. She thought of Darien every time she looked at her stomach, but she had been able to keep back the memories of her precious friends. She missed them more than anything. Jennie halted at the expression on Serena's face. "Is something wrong? Serena?" She shook her head. "No, it's okay. Where's my cake?" Jennie rolled her eyes, and held the plate out for Serena's inspection. It was a layer cake, chocolate, with lots and lots of icing. She grabbed it and started eating. "Ith's berry bood! Pocolate is by pavorite!!" She said with her mouth full of cake. [translates to: "It's very good! Chocolate is my favorite!!" I love writing the way she talks with her mouth full!!] Jennie rolled her eyes, and walked out of the room. She muttered under her breath, "If she wasn't one of my best friends, I'd choke her." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The End of Part Three ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I hope you liked it.
