All the scouts gasped but both Sailormoon and Jack ignored them and continued to gaze at each other until all reality seem to merge out. "You're Sailormoon..." The words didn't sink in. Jack, could hardly bring himself to believe that lovable, klutzy Serena and the legendary Sailormoon was the same person. He didn't want to believe that out of all the people in the world, Serena had been the one chosen to act out this role because he knew without her telling him, that Sailormoon was not a name she wanted to be labeled. She wanted to be an ordinary teenager, and god had forbid it. Looking into his powerful eyes, Sailormoon saw that a spark that had died in his eyes when he'd first saw him, come alive again and she nodded somewhat sadly. "Yes. I am." Jack nodded slowly, he looked away from Sailormoon and at the other scouts, and almost simultaneously, he could see the resemblance of some of Serena's closest friends. Amy- SailorMercury, Raye- SailorMars, Lita- SailorJupiter and Mina- SailorVenus. He was surprised at himself for not seeing it early. The resemblance had been so obvious, and yet their ignorance had betrayed them. Here the rest of the world were living in Tokyo, believing that five Sailor Suited Warriors would protect them from the monsters that were attacking the earth. Yet what they didn't know was that, these five warriors were actually five young teenager girls who wanted peace. "Sailormoon-" Luna began, but Sailormoon held out her hands to stop her. She looked back at the rest of the other scouts who were standing beside her watching. "Guys, I'll talk to him. I promise you, he won't reveal our identities." Sailormoon said. She detransformed and Jack could see at once that it was Serena who was the legendary Sailormoon. His eyes had not lied to him. She started to pull him away from the rest of the Sailor Scouts and towards the entrance of the airport. "Scouts meeting at 11am tomorrow!" and to Jack "Come with me Jack, we need to talk." But before she could anywhere, Mars immediately started arguing at her suggestion "11am!!! That's too late! Don't be lazy, meatball head! 7am!" "No!!! 11am!" Serena protested, sticking her tongue out at Mars. "7am!" "11am!" "Alright!!!" It was Venus. "That's enough. We'll settle for 9:30, okay?" The rest of the scouts agreed and Serena left with Jack close behind her. *********************************************************************** "Why?" Serena was at the place she loved most. The lake, with it's dark reflections of continuous ripples and willowy trees that hung well below the full moon was all that Serena desired to see at this very moment. It was she and Darien's special place, but for once she found it in her heart, the trust to share it with another. Jack. Serena shrugged. "Because I had to. Because there was no one else besides me. Fate, I suppose, this was my life. It was planned out for me one thousand years." she said quietly. "Does anyone else know besides me?" Jack asked. He was standing besides Serena as they both looked out at the lake in front of them, at the city lights reflecting off it's surface and many other things. Serena shook her head. "No Jack, so far the only outsiders who knows the identities of the scouts are you. I trust you can keep this a secret." she smiled slowly, because she knew without asking that Jack would keep this secret for her. Jack nodded. "You can trust me-Serena." he paused. "You know, i always thought you were special. That warmth you gave me was beyond anything i have ever experienced." he said looking straight into Serena's eyes. Serena smiled warmly "Thanks Jack. You don't know how much i appreciate those words." she said. "What i don't understand is, why you guys have to keep this a secret from the rest of the world. I mean your identities. Don't you think everyone in this city has the responsibility of knowing that their lives was in mortal danger and if it hadn't been for five teenager girls who was fighting a war between the *good and the evil* the world would have been engulfed in darkness already. What i want to know is, why you guys are keeping your identities hidden?" he finished. Serena sighed. "Jack. The world is no fairy tale. Can you imagine the mob of people who would be photographing us. Humanity just hasn't realize how much of the world is engulf in darkness yet. They haven't learnt their lesson, They don't understand that, and some people can even go as far as to believe that we're just a legend and not humans at all. Imagine how they'll treat us if they ever found out, the world would be in chaos." "But-" Jack protested. Serena shook her head and continued. "You know, i still want to be that ditzy, Klutzy meatball head Serena from three years ago, but sometimes i feel that my life have been changed so much that even trying to imagine a simple normal life is imp-impossible." she choked on her last words and tears gathered at the corner of her eyes. "Nothing will ever be the same again. I've gained so much as a scout, but in return i have lost almost everything I'd dreamt of before life as a sailor warrior ever began." The tears glistened in her eyes and threatened to fall. Putting a hand on Serena's shoulder, Jack patted her soothingly. "Serena-" he began. "You're still her." "Who?" she asked puzzled, ass he struggled to keep her tears from trickling down her cheeks. "That ditzy, klutzy meatball head Serena." "Oh Jack." Serena's voice was barely a whisper, as the tears spilled down her face and her lips broke into a smile. "Thank you." *********************************************************************** "You think Serena could manage Jack?" Mina said, early the next morning as the scouts gathered together to discuss the new enemy, and as usual Amy was there along with two of her math books, Lita was checking out new guys who reminded her of her old boyfriends, Raye was by the great fire trying to read any further message and Mina was leafing through a fashion magazine. Lita shrugged "I certainly hope so, but I've never doubted Serena" Amy nodded. "That's right, I'm sure Serena would be able to manage him." Raye nodded too. "I trust our princess." she said. She looked at the great fire. It hadn't give her any sign of a vision ever since it's last reading that told them they were going to have a new alliance. She sighed "The meatball head is late again." She said now, looking down at her watch. Mina shook her head "oh come on Raye. Let her be. She's not that late, i mean she's grown up majorly since our first meeting. You have to admire the girl for growing up so much in such a short time. You know she never enjoyed the fighting." Raye nodded. She knew, of course she knew. Serena was her closest friend, how could she not have known. But she knew also that, to keep Serena going, she'd had to be pushed. "Alright, alright. I won't say anything." "Here she comes." Atermis said suddenly and they all turned to watch as Serena raced up the steps with Luna and Rini, but they weren't the only one with her. "LATE AGAIN MEATBALL HEAD!!!" Raye roared at the top of her voice. Serena grinned sheepishly "Sorry Raye, slept in." The scouts looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. "Anyhow, it's time to get started. How did you manage with Jack?" Amy asked as soon as everyone was settled down on the floor. Serena smiled and nodded her head as she remembered her conversation with Jack. He understood so much of her that they could almost have been of the same blood. Outside, he may seem isolated and secluded from the world around him, but inside, he had a own reality of his own. Somehow, he intrigued her, she'd never met someone quite like him and yet, she felt she'd known him, before. "Fine. Just fine. I think we can trust him with our secret." Serena said finally. She sighed "Anyway, i called this meeting cause i think we need some serious planning and consideration about our enemies. We'd been brought forth to battle twice already and the real enemy hadn't even appeared." Mina nodded slowly. "You're right. It's not normal. They should have shown their face by now. We need to know who we're really against. We're in the light, and they're in the dark. This is going to be one tough fight." The rest of the scouts agreed. "They're here for the energy, that's for sure." Mina said at last, when no one could think of anything to say. Lita nodded her head. "Yes, energy, but not just that. There's more." She looked over at Serena. "Serena. I think you better be careful. It seems as if most of the attacks are aiming at you." Serena thought about this. It was true. Both times the monsters had attacked were times when she'd been around. Yet she didn't know why. There were many things in life she couldn't give an answer to those days. How complicated life was turning out to be. And for the rest of the meeting, as the scouts talked on, Serena stared out at the looming darkness ahead of her. The end was coming... Oh Darien. She thought, where are you when i need you the most. Give me strength... **************************************************************************** "You've been awfully quite lately." Raye was saying now as she left Cherry hill temple with Serena, later that day. She was walking Serena home. On negotiation with the other scouts, they had agreed to protect Serena whenever possible. And Raye was doing just that by walking Serena home. Serena had protested of course, but no one, not even Luna could think of a better idea than this to protect her. Serena shrugged trying to act carefree. "It's nothing. I'm just not used to all those attacks." She couldn't think of anything else to say, but she knew Raye saw through her. And she did. she shook her head. "Oh come on, Serena. I've known you for so long, do you think i would not notice if you're unhappy." Serena let her eyes close for a second, than open them again. "I'm okay Raye." Raye rolled her eyes. "Don't be a meatball head!" than she thought of something. "Is it-is it because of Darien?" She didn't want to say his name, but somehow saying his name made him more real to her. She knew he didn't belong to her and never would, but sometimes letting go was the hardest thing to do. Serena stopped walking and instantaneously the streets became very silent, Suddenly, Serena felt a cold rush of air brush pass her back. She looked down at her feet and tried to force herself to stop functioning. But she couldn't. For how can anyone force themselves to stop functioning. It was just one of those things that weren't possible when you're a human. someone had once told her that a human's emotions were the hardest to control. She didn't want to talk about him now. It had been only two days since he'd been gone, and she missed his presence like crazy already. Serena nodded. "Yes Raye. I feel something bad is going to happen. I can sense it." she said finally. Raye frowned. "What do you mean?" Serena sighed "I don't know." she paused. "Raye-can i ask you something?" she asked. Raye shrugged. "Sure." Serena looked uneasy. "When you were with Darien-i mean-" she choked on her words, unsure of how to deliver them without hurting Raye. "When you were with Darien, were you in love with him?" Raye froze and a chill went up her back. For an interminable moment, she was speechless. Serena had never asked her such a question before. "That is the stupidest thing i have ever heard come from anyone's mouth. You really are a meatball head!" she said finally when she had found her voice again. "But-" Serena protested. "Forget it!" Raye yelled, running ahead. Her face was flushed from Serena's words. Raye didn't want her to know that, somewhere in her heart, Darien still lived. Serena watched as Raye disappeared around the bend. *She didn't say no* Serena realized suddenly. She stopped and looked down at the engagement ring, Darien had given to her quiltly. *Please let Raye be happy* she prayed. Suddenly a hand wrapped around her neck and pulled Serena into an alleyway. "Hel-!" Serena screamed, but no one heard her. "Sailormoon..." A voice said. It was a male voice, it sounded strangely familiar, and yet it didn't sound like someone she knew. Serena gasped. he knew who she was! Could it be-? She didn't want to guess. In time, the answers would surface. "Who are you?" Serena whispered. She reached for her locket, ready to transform and realized she'd dropped it when the person had attacked her. "There's no need to know who i am, Sailorm-Serena." the voice said. *He knows so much about me* Serena realized. It wasn't a good situation. she tried to get a peek of what the attacker looked like under that dark mask he wore over his eyes. He seemed so familiar, and yet so Alien to her. Who was it? "What-What do you want?" she gasped. "I want you..." "Me?" Serena squealed. She tried to pull away from his deadly grasp, but he was too strong. "Yes. You-Serenity." he drew her close to him, and for a moment Serena almost felt as though she knew this person. "Let me go!" Serena screamed suddenly as she realized what the attacker was trying to do. He was trying to kiss her. "No!!!" She screamed and with all the strength she could, pushed him away. Surprised he stumbled back against the brick wall, giving Serena a chance to run but before she could get anywhere, a sudden blaze of pain suddenly charged through her chest and she stopped. Her face ashened with pain. Her attacker was uncertain. "Serenity..." He touched her. Tears stung in her eyes, the pain in her chest was incredible and for a moment, Serena felt as though she was about to collapse. "No-Get away from me!" She screamed, pushing his hands away. *Oh Darien* I need you... **************************************************************************** Meanwhile in America. "God!" Darien gasped suddenly as he clutched at his head in pain. A sudden image suddenly flashed into his mind as he remembered what he had not known when he was away in America. Serena! Something must have happened to her! he realized in panic. "Darien, are you okay?" A fellow medical student was asking him now. "I-I have to go-" Than he fainted with only one thought in his head. He must return to Tokyo... **************************************************************************** "Serena..Serena? Where are you?" Raye was calling. She had walked back when she realized that Serena had not caught up with her. *Oh please, let her be alright* It had been her fault, getting lost in her own emotions and forgetting about her job of protecting Serena. "Raye!" A voice called behind her. Raye spun around and found herself facing a familiar figure who was coming towards her from the other side of the road. It was Jack. "Oh, it's you." Raye said coldly. She did not appreciate the fact that Jack now knew their identity. Suddenly, she felt very exposed under her layers of clothes. "Where's Serena?" he asked. Raye became worried again. "I don't know. She was just here before but now i can't find her." Jack frowned. "She's not here? But she couldn't have gone far, right?" his voice was filled with concern. Raye shook her head. "I don't know, Jack, but-Serena seems to be the new target of our new enemies. I'm afraid..." her voice trailed off and she could say no more. Jack looked around frantically. "We have to find her Raye. She's not recovered yet!" Raye looked at him sharply "Recovered? She's hurt?" Jack looked at her incredulously. "Didn't you know? Her chest has been hurting her, but she wouldn't let me tell anyone cause she didn't want anyone to be worried." Raye sighed and stamped her feet. "It's just so like that meatball head to do something like that and make trouble for everyone" As Raye brushed past Jack to move to get a better bearing of her surroundings, her hand touched his by accident and suddenly a jolt of energy went charging through her body and her hands snapped back to her sides as if she'd been burnt by his touch. Raye gasped. That Energy. That Vibe that was vibrating off Jack was something to be reakoned with, yet she didn't know what to make of it. Rather he was good or bad. One thing was sure, Jack Nagano was no ordinary human. "Who are you Jack?" She didn't finish her sentence. Because just than, she saw something gleaming in the sunlight. Raye rushed forward, with Jack right behind her and found Serena's locket lying on the ground. She lifted her head and found herself staring into a long dark alleyway... "Stay here Jack! Raye yelled. Than she grabbed Serena's locket and rushed into the alleyway. MARS STAR POWER ********************************************************************************** "You won't have me!" Serena screamed as she tried to push the attacker's hands away from her "I won't let yo.." The pain in her chest became increasingly overwhelming and Serena collapsed. "Serenity!" The man gasped as he held her in his arms. He felt for a pulse and found one quite quickly. "Get your hands off her, you moron!" SailorMars shouted as she arrived at the scene. She was furious, how could this person dressed in black here dare to touch Serena! "Go away, SailorMars-or should i say the great fire princess of Mars." He laughed evilly. "I don't want to hurt you." MARS FIRE SURROUND SailorMars didn't even listen as she unleashed her power towards the man in black. He dodged it easily, an unconscious Serena still in his arms. "Who are you!!!" Mars was furious, just seeing Serena in his arms, unconscious was more than she could bear. For god's sake! She was suppose to protect her. The man shook his head "You know me-you just don't remember, do you?" SailorMars blinked, the attack she'd been about to throw at the man dissolved in her fingertips. "What?" The man shook his head. "I was always a nobody. Wasn't i? No one remembers me..." His voice trailed and for a moment, Mars could almost sense a sadness inside him. It came from deep inside his heart. "I-I can't remember." Mars said uncertainly. Could he be someone from the Silver millennium? Afterall, he knew their identities. She shook her head in confusion. "Just let her go!" He laughed playfully "No, Raye. She'll be mine forever." Her looked down at Serena and brushed her face gently with the tips of his finger. Mars shook her head "You'll never get away with it. She's our princess- Neither will Tuxedo Mask-" her voice shook a bit as she uttered his name. She saw the man's eyes darken behind his mask. "It is always Tuxedo Mask, isn't it! You see too much in him. He is nothing but a fool!" the man bellowed. Mars grew angry at his words, and without think she unleashed another blast at the man. This time he wasn't ready for it. He groaned as a blast hit him in the shoulder and he almost dropped Serena, but he was holding her too tightly to let go. *He cares about her* Mars realized. Nevertheless, she was still furious at this man for calling Darien a fool. "I suggest you shut up right now before i blast you again!" She shouted. He laughed again. "Your temper haven't changed a bit since the moon kingdom, have you, Raye?" His voice was low and silky. "Neither, your love for Endymion." "I'll Kill you!" Mars screamed. She felt the inside of her heart skip a beat, as she heard the words come out of this man's mouth. "STOP!!"
