Title: Avoiding Destiny Author: Anjel E-Mail: LiLAnJeL84@aol.com Rating: A very light PG-13 Nothing major. Of course you all know that Sailor Moon and it's characters belong to Takeuchi Naoko, Kodansha, and many other large miscellaneous companies. The song "Show me the Meaning of Feeling Lonely" by the Backstreet Boys is not my song. When quotes are surrounded by *'s, it is a telepathic message. When quotes are surrounded by 's, it is a thought. ************************************************************************** Part 3 I suddenly stopped. 'It can't be that much of a coincidence can it?' I ran a shaky hand through my hair, a trait that I had gotten from Mamoru when he was nervous. "Chi-Chiba?" I stared at her wide eyed. My memories then made a connection with the girl in front of me. She was the princess of the earth kingdom, Princess Gaia, younger sister of Prince Endymion. She was also the betrothed of my brother. Mamoru had once told me that once in a while he would get flashes of a girl with the same pitch black hair and midnight blue eyes he had. I gulped and she smiled at me. I wasn't exactly sure if she had gotten her memories of her last life yet. "Yes," she then added softly with a low curtsy, "Princess." I beamed and hugged her tightly. "Rena, if you don't loosen up, I won't be able to breathe!" she says jokingly. I loosened my hug and we went off to the office. The secretary looked over my transcript. I mentally winced. My grades for the last month or two were really low. I caught sight of my grades and gasped. They were all very high, unlike the failing ones that I had seen before. I then heard the voice of my mother in my head. *My dear Serenity, this is my gift to you. I know for a fact that you would not feel right in the ESL classes so I increased your marks so you would be able to go to the special classes with advanced learning so you would not be bored. Do not be alarmed my child.* I smiled. The memories that had been restored to me last night were now getting clearer by the minute. True to her word, I was put into the advanced classes with Terra. The guidance counselor had a word with me then walked out to 'introduce' me to Terra. "We bumped into each other before Mr. Jones so there will be no need for introductions," she said smiling at me. "She shall be your guide for the week to get you acquainted with your surroundings. The only class that she does not have with you is your advanced calculus class." *Advanced CALCULUS?!* I said to Terra telepathically. I am able to speak to anyone telepathically and pick up any telepathic messages. Because I have a link with my senshi, Mamoru and Gaia, I would also be able to talk to them that way. Because Alex was my twin, we also had a link but it was stronger than the link with the senshi or Mamoru. *Don't worry about it. Once your memories sort themselves out, you'll find a lot more information than you need. You were always good in math.* *Don't WORRY ABOUT IT?! I find advanced calculus is extremely easy! Now that I have all my memories. I'm going to be SO BORED!* *I should have known.* she says. I hear a telepathic sigh coming from her. I glare at her and she gives me an innocent smile. "Go on now. Class starts in about ten minutes so get going." We walk out of the office and I notice all of the boys glance my way. Some girls smiled nicely at me. So far, I was beginning to like my new school. "Oh, just to tell you, Rena. All of the teachers are going to ask you to introduce yourself." "That's okay. I'm already used to speaking in front of a million people, if you know what I mean," I answered thinking about the many times I had spoken in front of my mother's loyal subjects. We walked into our first class, history. Terra introduced me to a girl with shoulder length black hair and blue violet eyes as Millie. "Welcome to Rose Millennium High," she said. She possessed the same bubbly attitude that I once had. I smiled back in response. I looked around and there was no sign of Alex. He happened to have the exact same schedule as me. *Ooo, Xander's gonna be late if he doesn't come in about 2 minutes.* Terra giggles at my enthusiasm about Xander's tardiness. I stare at my watch and start a countdown. *10* *9* *8* The back of my head started to tingle a bit, which told me that Alex had teleported somewhere. I close my eyes and let my mind brush slightly against his so I would not alert him. I saw through his eyes that he was about 2 doors down. *Oh, man. He made it in on time.* I sat down depressingly on my chair. Alex ran into the room and quickly sat down next to me. "What's wrong with her?" he asks Terra. "You're here on time," she says while giggling. Alex looks at me in mock anger and then he couldn't hold the serious look anymore so he laughed. "You'll get no sympathy from me when you're almost late." "We live together. I won't be able to be late without you. So, HA!" At that moment the science teacher walked in. "Today we have a new student with us. May you please introduce yourself to us, young lady," he said cheerily. I smiled back at him. I stood up, not once noticing that all eyes were now on me. "My name is Serenity Tsukino. I just moved here from Tokyo. I hope to meet new friends and get good grades." *Serenity? That's rich,* chuckled Alex. *Oh, be quiet,* I exclaim. "Now that you've introduced yourself, I think it's our turn to do the same. I am your science teacher Dr. Hayes." All the students introduced themselves and soon I knew the names of everyone in class. The rest of the school day passed in giggles, laughs, fun and jokes. Terra, Alex and I decided to take a walk through the park near the school not exactly paying much attention to our surroundings. We were talking about this and that when we took a wrong turn and ended up surrounded by some gangsters. Terra and I stood back to back with Alex at our side. "Hey pretty boy, leave the girls with us and you may come out unharmed." *Leave them with us* Terra and I said at the same time. *We want to teach these little boys that it's not nice to bully people.* "Are you sure you want to do that?" Alex says trying to save them some agony. "Get lost or get splattered on that wall," the leader of the gang said. "Your choice. Have fun." Alex walks a short distance away so he could observe the fight. *Terra, I'll take the front. You cover my back.* *Right.* We throw an evil smile to our opponents and attacked. I threw a round house kick to the people in front of me and knocked them down. Terra hand chopped the nearest one and a judo threw another and rendered him unconscious. I turned around and there was a guy trying to stab her with a knife. I run over to her and using her shoulder as leverage, did a flying kick to his face. We looked all around and dusted ourselves off. All of them were down and all they could do was groan. Alex walked over to the leader and said, "I warned you but you didn't listen." Well, that ended our little walk through the park fairly quickly. Terra teleported home and Alex and I did the same. When we got home, my aunts were talking to some of their friends. They introduced themselves as Mrs. Cranston, Mrs. Scottsdale and Mrs. Johnson. I gave her a friendly smile and quickly walked off to my room before my tears would come. I was depressed after the encounter with the gangsters. The way Terra and I fought reminded me too much of when my own Tuxedo Kamen would fight by my side. I decided to go try out the indoor ice skating rink on the grounds to try and brighten my moods. I put my silvery blond hair in a bun, grabbed my skates and walked off to the rink. I walked into the observing room and popped in one of my CDs. I put it on random and waited for the song to start. I walk out of the room and puts on my skates. The song Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely played over the speakers. It seemed to suit my mood. "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" -Backstreet Boys Show me the meaning of being lonely So many words for the broken heart It's hard to see in a crimson love So hard to breathe Walk with me, and maybe Nights of light so soon become Wild and free, I can feel the sun Your every wish will be done They tell me Show me the meaning of being lonely Is this the feeling I need to walk with? Tell me why I can't be there where you are There's somethin' missin' in my heart Life goes on as it never ends Eyes of stone observe the trends They never say Forever gaze, if only Guilty roads to an endless love (Endless love) There's no control, are you with me now? Your every wish will be done They tell me Show me the meaning of being lonely Is this the feeling I need to walk with? (Tell me why) Tell me why I can't be there where you are There's somethin' missin' in my heart There's nowhere to run I have no place to go Surrender my heart, body and soul How can it be you're asking me to feel The things you never show? I felt the song wrapping itself around me as I twirl and dance on the ice. I feel the tension that had gathered during the school ebb away as I become relaxed. You are missin' in my heart Tell me why can't I be there where you are? Show me the meaning of being lonely Is this the feeling I need to walk with? (Tell me why) Tell me why I can't be there where you are (Where you are) There's somethin' missin' in my heart (Cause you are missin' in my heart) Show me the meaning of being lonely (Being lonely) Is this the feeling I need to walk with? Tell me why (can't be there) I can't be there where you are (Where you are) There's somethin' missin' in my heart While skating, I felt the presence of another person skating towards me and three others observing my 'private' dance. Acting on instinct, I used my telekinesis and knocked him to a wall unintentionally. I covered my mouth and quickly skated over to him. His three friends ran up with me, one of them was Justin. "What did you do to him?" Justin shouted. "I-I'm s-so sorry, Jus-Justin," I stuttered. I ran over to the guy that I had hurt. He had white hair that was slowly being stained red by the gash on his forehead. I wasn't sure whether the injury was serious or not but I couldn't take the chance. I used my healing powers. My body started to glow a pale silver and my crescent moon emitted a blinding flash of light that healed the wound on his head. All of the blood had disappeared and returned to his body. He groaned and clutched his head. "What was the license plate number of the truck that hit me?" His eyes then noticed that I was sitting next to him. His eyes widened and he whispered, "Serenity." I couldn't catch what he said. I didn't realize that my crescent moon was still glowing slightly. Because my back was to his friends, they didn't see it. He pointed at my forehead. "What are you talking about?" He roughly grabbed my shoulder. I quickly stood up and flipped him over. "Nobody ever grabs me like that. And you're no exception, cousin," I said coldly with my crescent moon flaring slightly in my anger. His eyes also widen and his mouth opens in shock. "What are you all gaping at?!" I said turning to the rest of them. The two that were behind me gasped and kneeled. "Your highness," they both said. Justin and the white haired guy also kneeled and said, "Princess Serenity." "Who are you?!" I scream. Alex sensing my distress quickly teleported in. "What the hell are you doing Justin?" he exclaims. "Prince Alexander," they said in unison. "Who are you people?" he growled while taking his sword out from his sub-space pocket. "We mean you no harm. We are the reincarnated guardians of the prince and princess of Earth. I am Kevin Scottsdale formerly known as Kunzite." The brown haired guy introduced himself as Nathan Johnson once known as Nephrite. Justin said that he was once Jadeite. The guy with blond hair introduced himself as Zachary Cranston formerly known as Zoicite. *Better call Terra, Xander. If they make one wrong move, they're moon dust. GO!* Alex teleported out and a minute later, came back with Terra. "Kunzite, Jadeite, Nephrite and Zoicite! Oh my god!" She ran over to then and gave them each a big hug. Alex and I hung back a little. I discretely activated my Lunar Computer, which I had made during the Silver Millennium, and scanned them for any negative energies. Another flashback hits Alex and me during the scanning. ~Flashback~ Alex and I were in the training room with the senshi. We were trying to get the senshi to loosen up since the guards and Endymion had left two days ago to defend their planet. All of a sudden, their bodies froze and their faces were contorted into pain filled ones. They all yelled out a NO that was full of pain and sorrow and collapsed onto the mats. "Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury! Answer me!" I start glowing a silver color as I try to heal them. Before I do, Mars sits straight up, her eyes unseeing obviously seeing a vision and says to me, "Our beloveds' have died. All is left is an evil shell. Beware of the shadows." Then she collapses. Alex and I move them to the infirmary and they wake up 15 minutes later. "Are you okay?" Alex and I say in unison. "Stop it with the double voices. It's scary. Where are we anyway?" Venus asks while trying to figure out where they were. Mars breaks down crying and I hold her in my embrace. The senshi look at me weirdly. Their looks saying, 'What's going on?' "You all screamed the word 'no' and then collapsed. Mars had a vision during the time that you were all unconscious. She said something about your beloved being dead and that all that was left was an evil shell. And something about shadows," I said in a puzzled voice. "She's right," a new voice said. We all turn around and Prince Endymion was there wearing a black cloak and clutching at his side. Outside, we hear guards shouting orders to capture an earthling spy. *They think I'm a spy, Usako.* he says with his eyes downcast. The guards were about to barge in and I cast an invisibility spell on Endymion before they open the doors. "I'm sorry, your highness," the lead guard says as he kneels. "Have you seen a person wearing a black cloak sneak in. We have reasons to believe that it is a spy." "No," I calmly say. "Are you sure?" they ask. "Do you doubt your highness's word?" I said coldly. "We're very sorry your highness," he says bowing one more time before leaving with the rest of the guards. "Never thought you had it in you," Jupiter says amazed. "Never mind that. What do you mean?" I ask Endymion. "My four guardians died during battle. They were wounded badly. I was also wounded in battle. They used the last of their powers to teleport me here," he says while falling on one knee. "Endymion! How bad is the wound?" I ask. He lifts his hand away painfully and there was a deep gash at his side. I gasp and quickly use my energy to heal the wound. I sway slightly and almost collapse but Alex catches me and I lean on his chest for support. ~End of Flashback~ We were both greatly affected by the sudden flashback and we both faint. When I woke up, I had a tremendous headache. I clutched at my head and look around to find myself in my room. 'Alex!' I teleport into his room. Because of our link, we are able to feel each other's pain, so when I went into his room, my headache intensified. "I think I'm gonna leave," I say quickly. I teleport back into my room and use my energy to heal my headache. 'I guess that flashback short circuited our brain cells.' I giggled at the thought. When I felt better, I went downstairs to see if my aunts' friends were still there. They had left. Aunt Amalthia and Uncle Robert were discussing something having to do with me and Alex. They spotted me and told me to sit down with them in the family room. "Yes, Aunt Amalthia. Uncle Robert?" "Can you please get Alexander down here for us?" they ask. I nod and walk back upstairs. Alex was sitting in front of the TV playing some video game. "Your parents want you. It has something to do with the both of us. They were talking about it and then suddenly stopped when they saw me. Something's weird here." "Whatever. Let's just get this over with. Mom and Dad are probably talking about you and I joining the company when we graduate from college or something." We walk downstairs to see Aunt Amalthia and Uncle Robert with fake smiles. "What's wrong?" I inquire. They were usually happy go lucky people. Aunt Amalthia was holding an envelope. "We have chose this moment to tell you of your relationship with each other. Your mother and I, Usagi, had agreed to give you this when you turned 18. But with the death of your parents, we have decided to give it to you earlier. Please, understand," she says sadly. She hands me the letter and I open it carefully. There were my birth certificates and my adoption papers. I had always known that I was adopted so that was no surprise. I find a pale pink piece of paper which seemed like a letter. I break the seal and start to read it. Dear Usagi and Alexander, You have finally gotten this letter that has been written so many years ago. This is to tell you that you are adopted. When your Aunt Amalthia and I saw you two, we couldn't help but see how cute you were. You were both in the same crib, clutching at each other as if the other was your only anchor to this world. You both looked so fragile. I had adopted both of you right away since you two were brother and sister. I couldn't bear to separate you from each other. However, luck was not on our side. This adoption agency was in the United States. Kenjii and I had gone there to visit our family. We didn't really expect to come home to Tokyo with two babies but we did. At that time, your aunts and uncles were not as successful as they are today. They were fighting to try to get to the top. Finally, our vacation in the states was over. Your aunts and uncles drove us to the airport to say goodbye. We were pushing your strollers through the gates when a man pushed through and kicked the stroller that contained Alex. Fortunately, the stroller did not topple over or fall. However, the airport employees pushed us through and would not allow us to go back. I tried to get you, Alex, I tried so very hard. But they would not let me out. I could do nothing but sit in my seat and cry for you and hope that nothing bad would occur. My luck had held out and your aunts and uncles had found you first before anybody else. They had informed me that they had gotten you. But, money was hard to get by then. We decided to wait a while until we could. Weeks turned into months and then years. We then decided that since you were adjusted to life there already, we let you live there. My heart still aches for you even though you are not my flesh and blood. I feel guilty to have let such a silly thing separate me from you. I beg of you to forgive me. I have carried this on my shoulders for so long. Your Aunt Amalthia and Uncle Robert has always said that it was never my fault but I think not. I could not in all of my power, get you back, my dear little Alexander. It was my fault for not holding onto you. My fault that I had let them usher me into the plane. My fault that I separated you from your true sister, Usagi. -Ikuko Tsukino I felt tears well up in my eyes. My mother had carried this burden for so long and had never told another soul. I had wondered whether or not Alex was my twin in this life as well but never have I thought that he had a chance to live with me. I cried at the plea for forgiveness. Who could have prevented it? Not even Sailor Moon could have done so. I turned my head to look at Alex who eyes were starting to well up with tears. He opened his arms and took me in. I buried my head in the crook of his neck and he buried his head in my hair. We cried for finally finding someone related by blood. I had thought that I had no real family, I guess I was wrong. We laughed and cried. He swung me around and I squealed in joy. We looked at Aunt Amalthia and Uncle Robert who had thought that we would have taken it the wrong way. We both forgave my mother. "Uncle Robert, what am I going to call you now?" I ask with a smile on my face. I would be content if he asked me to call him father. "You are welcome to call me father anytime," he said with a smile. I finally found another family. Even though they could never replace the family I had lost in the car crash, it was close to it. I was finally happy. *** Alex and I made plans for a meeting to get to know each other during our days off from school. Other than Alex, the others were a mystery to me about their 'normal lives'. We decided to go camping in the forest nearby. It wasn't exactly the dangerous wilderness, but it would allow privacy and tranquility. For the rest of the day, we drove around town getting the supplies that we might need on our little camping trip. The following day, we loaded our stuff onto two vans belonging to Kevin and Justin. We spent a whole week getting to know each other. I found out that Kevin owned a very successful construction company that he had inherited from his father. I knew Justin, Alex and myself were going to be the next owners of Lightner Industries. Zachary was currently in his last year of medical school. Nathan owned several restaurants that he had both inherited and built. His father was a famous chef and he himself was even better than his father who was his teacher. Terra would inherit a company that was at the moment run by the people her father had hired when she became of age. During our little trip, I briefly wondered about how the senshi were doing without me. 'No use dawdling over past events,' I think to myself. I was content with what I was given and there was no use of making myself depressed because of the incident. I laid back and enjoyed my new life. ************************************************************************** The End! I'm just kidding. Wait for the next chapter! *~Anjel~* LiLAnJeL84@hotmail.com
