Sooo, you want some more, eh? All right, for all you loyal readers out there, here is Part 1.5 of ?Her Choice', by me, Annie(-chan)! Hope you enjoy. Oh yeah, the character's aren't mine, (Pft, if they were, don't you think I'd be famous by now?) they belong to Naoko Takeuchi -- except James, of course. He's allllll mine. And now, on to the main even! "Serena!" A faint yet familiar voice summoned her. The enveloping fog seized her; her feeble attempt at determining the voice's origin was quickly dampened. The fog was only emphasized by the blinding darkness, and any attempt at discovering where she was, or who could be talking to her was futile. She raised her head towards the heavens, searching for a sign of salvation. Blinking back her burning tears, she stared at the fog tinged blackness of the night, seeing no moon or stars. "Serena! Don't you know who I am?" She saw the distinct silhouette of a comforting figure looming in front of her through the fog, and for a brief moment she thought she caught a glimpse of the face of her Adonis. Anxiety tinged fears grasped her mind as she tried lunging towards the figure, her chance at being saved. "James! James! I'm here, wait for me!" She continued to cry for him, but despite the volume of her piercing shriek, despite the speed of her frantic spring; he was just out of reach. "Don't you know who I am?" "James!" "Don't you know who I am?" "Stop saying that! Please! Help me!" She halted her useless attempt at catching him, and, panting heavily from her physical exertion, she began to cry softly. Serena fell to her knees and let the stinging tears flow. It was at this time she noticed what adorned her. A white gown clung to her sweaty body, it's thin material was a meager protection against the humid fog and chill of the night. A delicate row of golden studs made an empire waste, with a white skirt flowing from it. The dress had a square neck, beautifully accented with lace, which was now dampened from her sweat and tears. She stood up, and tried to examine the dress more carefully, but the fog rose with her. Her spirit soared as she quickly let her gaze wander in the darkness, but all to quickly she realized he was gone. He had been her only hope for redemption, and with him gone, she truly had nothing. "James, I'm so scared. I'm so scared." She spoke quietly to herself, knowing there was no one to hear her cries. Serena woke up with a jolt, sweat and tears covering her face. Breathing heavily, she turned to look at the clock that was perched on her wooden night-stand. She turned her head, and stared at the clock which read 3:48 AM. An eerie red haze filled the room from the numbers on the clock, and as she stared, still hypnotized from lack of sleep, she thought just for a moment she might not have been in her room at all. Her quickly shifted to the sight out the window, no moon, no stars, just like in the dream. Lifting the damp blanket off herself, she twisted her tired legs and put her feet on the floor and, placing her face in her hands, she cried. Well, that's it for now. Sorry it was so short, but I promise you part 2 will be out withing the next couple of weeks. Any comments can go to me, Annie at awoud@navix.net . Thanks to all the wicked-cool people who e-mailed me last week, and to my new editor, and to Lauri!
