Title: From Thy Kingdoms Done - Chapter 5 Author: Aquamarine Angel Rating: G Edited by: Crescent Moon E-mail: aquamarineangel@sailormoon.com Web Page: http://www.geocities.com/universe_guardians/ _________________________________________________________________ Trever was on his way to his best friend's house when he saw it. He'd never seen it before in his life, despite the fact that he must have passed this location thousands of times. To be honest, he could have sworn that there was a bookstore where the magic shop stood, just yesterday. It was a bookstore where the magic shop stood, just yesterday. It was quite puzzling as to how books could be replaced by trinkets, candles, and bogus spell books overnight. Not to mention, the once simple, but cheerful, decorations had been replaced with a dark and almost sinister atmosphere. He couldn't stand it. His curiosity got the best of him, and he decided to take a quick detour. A little look wouldn't hurt. He seemed to have forgotten that curiosity had killed the cat. As he stepped into the shop a strange feeling struck him like a ton of bricks. Something wasn't right. He couldn't put his finger on what seemed so wrong but he could smell danger in the air. The negative energy was like static hanging in the air. But what was the dangerous force that he was picking up? Everything appeared to be in order. "May I help you?" a sweet voice asked. Trever whirled around and came face to face with an angel. "Am I dead?" he stammered. The vision before him gave him a strange look. "What are you talking about?" she asked. She seemed rather puzzled by his question. "Aren't you an angel?" he asked, getting straight down to the point. She laughed. Her laughter made Trever want to melt. It was a strange feeling that came over him as he admired her beauty and her gentle laughter. Her eyes were the most amazing shade of hazel. As a mater of fact, they didn't seem to be hazel at all. They were more like the reflection of the silver stars in the sky upon the sea. Her hair was long and dark. It looked as soft as silk, but Trever didn't dare try to find out if his suspicion was correct. Her skin was perfect. There wasn't a single impurity about her complexion except for the almost unnatural paleness. He unfortunately noticed a sadness in her eyes. It occurred to him that this girl didn't laugh very much. This made him want to make her laugh again. "You must find me strange," Trever commented. He was trying to strike up a conversation. "Oh, no! I think you're very nice. No one has never told me that I looked like an angel before. Most people are frightened of the way I look. That's why I don't have many friends," she quickly assured. "Oh? A nice girl like you without many friends? Not possible! At any rate I'm your new best friend, Trever. And you are...?" prompted Trever. "I'm Samantha. I work here, quite obviously. Are you looking for something?" Samantha asked. "No. I'm just wondering when this shop opened. It seems to me that the was a book store here before..." Trever said. His curiosity about the new magic shop was back. "I understand your surprise. As a matter of fact I just got hired today. The grand opening is actually next Monday. There is going to be a big party and everything, with a magic show. Will you come? I think I would enjoy the company of someone who's IQ is above that of a carrots. The people around here just don't cut it-" Samantha explained, before she was rudely interrupted. "I heard that!" a female voice cried. She sounded a bit edgy and mean. Trever's immediate thought was PMS. A woman of about twenty came out from behind a stack of spell books. "You know, young lady, I have nothing wrong with firing you... But I'll be merciful, this time. No more talking behind my back, you hear?" Samantha nodded. "That's a good girl, now run back and grab the books on dragons, and put them on the shelf to the right of the cash register." Samantha did as she was told, giving Trever an apologetic smile and a quick wave good-bye. The woman in charge then turned to Trever. "You should probably come back later, when we're more organized, if you don't know what you're looking for. I do hope you'll stop by for our grand opening!" the woman said, too cheerfully, as she shooed Trever out the door. On the way to his best friends house, he concluded three things. First, love at first site exists. Second, he loved Samantha. Last, he was going to that grand opening, bogus magic or no. He'd do anything to see Samantha again. END OF CHAPTER 5
