Name: The Winds of Fate: Part 1 Author: Black Gryphon Rating: PG E-Mail: blackgryphon21@hoymail.com ----------------------------------- The Winds of Fate: Part 1 by Black Gryphon Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters in this story, they are the property of the people at DIC and all other companies involved in the production and distribution of Sailor Moon. I don't own the song that's in here either, by the way, don't worry not many in this series have them. Because of the abrupt ending to production of the North American version of Sailor Moon I decided to take matters into my own hands and write a season of my own. This season is frozen in time between the final battle with the Doom Phantom and The opening of Season 4. I am seeking out some other choice authors at the moment to help, so this series' author list may fluctuate between stories, hopefully, I will remain constant. This is meant as a sequel to "Water and Electricity" it will make much more sense if you read that story first. This story involves the love between two girls. (If you read Water and Electricity you know.) But don't worry, I won't dwell on it too much, it's just another part of the story. I have made every effort within the power of my ability to write this tastefully, meaning that this is NOT in any way, shape or form a hentai story. Comments are welcome, look at the end for my address. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 1: History Repeats Amy stared into the mirror, she couldn't believe it. The last few weeks since the battle on the dark crystal were bliss. Serena had understandably taken it hard for the first week or two after losing Reenie for 900 years, but she got over it. Amy tilted her head and put her hand to her mouth as she thought about her reflection. She and Lita had blossomed after the fight and so had Serena and Darien again, she wouldn't have wanted anything different. She turned slightly and looked at her back in the mirror, usually she wasn't this picky about her looks, but she wanted tonight to be perfect. She wore a simple, yet elegant, sleeveless dress of deep storm blue, trimmed with gold. Mid-cut in the front and ending just above the bottom of her shoulder blades, at the waist it pleated slightly to allow free movement and ended halfway down the shins. On her feet she had shoes that matched the dress, Serena had done her hair, though she thought it looked the same as usual. "So, this is the big night." She said to her reflection, she was excited, but also nervous. Serena walked in at that point, "How you doing Aims?" Amy turned to her friend and smiled deeply, "Just a little nervous." "Ah, come on," She said jokingly, "You'll do fine." Her voice softened at that point. "Are you ready?" "No, but let's do it anyway." With that they walked out the bathroom and went to Amy's ready position. ************** Serena saw Raye and Mina in the gym through the masses at the school party, "Hey guys," She called as she got close, "You done?" Raye answered first, "Lita's ready, nervous though." "Amy too, I'm sure they'll be okay though." The straight-haired blonde spoke up, "The DJ's agreed, he says he'd have paid me for setting up something like this." Serena looked up as the music stopped and the DJ picked up a mike, "Moment of truth." She muttered to her friends. The man with the mike came to the front of the stage, "Can I have everybody's attention please? Thank you. I've been told that tonight is a very special night in the lives of two very special young people. Would everyone please open a circle in the middle with two paths to the side exits?" He pointed the way for some people and waited until they were done. "Okay then, I was asked to play the softest love song I have, sorry but the Celine Dion song for Titanic is the best I got." He hit a button and the opening flute notes began. **************** Amy heard the song begin and walked over to the door, there she waited, "Go on the first word." She told herself, "That's what we planned." A moment later the words began and she stepped through the threshold and into the gym, she held her head down slightly, nervous beyond words. She couldn't believe the accuracy of the words, the song was nearly perfect. Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you. That is how I know you go on. Amy looked up at this point and her breath caught in her throat, Lita was beautiful! Mina had chosen the dresses so she had never seen Lita's, it was the same as hers, except that instead of blue it was a deep forest green, trimmed with a pink just a shade lighter than her bow on her sailor uniform. She could see that her beloved had just lifted her eyes as well and Amy saw that she was having the same effect on her. Still they continued without missing a step. Far across the distance and spaces between us, You have come to show you go on. They walked slowly towards each other, it gave the illusion of being a choreographed performance, but it was, in reality, hardly even planned. Near, far, where ever you are, I believe that the heart does go on, Once more you opened the door, Your here in my heart and my heart will go on and on. Just as the first verse was finishing they met, using the little bit of time between verses to embrace for a slow dance. Love can touch just one time and last for a lifetime, And never let go 'til we're gone. Cheek to cheek the two girls danced, the people around them too stunned to do anything but mutter lightly among themselves. As for the dancers, they seemed almost frozen in time, almost like a falling silk scarf; beautiful, seemingly motionless, yet its movements: undeniable. Serena and Raye, on separate ends of the gym from when the people had parted, were lost in the moment and joined in with the song, their voices enhancing the moment tenfold. Love was when I loved you, One true time I hold to, In my life will always go on. Near, far, where ever you are, I believe that the heart does go on. Once more you opened the door, And you're here in my heart, And my heart will go on and on. As the music picked up for the third verse Mina joined in, her voice blending beautifully with the other three. You're here, there's nothing I fear, And I know that my heart will go on. We'll stay forever this way, You are safe in my heart, and my heart will go on and on. As the song gently wound down, Lita and Amy turned their heads such that their lips met for a lingering kiss. When the song was finally over, and they separated slightly, the two girls were met with the DJ saying: "Let's hear it for these two girls!" And with that most of the partygoers began to clap, some cheered, quite a few were too stunned to speak and still others looked extremely disappointed. Lita looked over and saw some people exchanging money, it annoyed her that people made bets on her and Amy's love life, but Amy wasn't phased so she stayed quiet. As they had expected, a few weren't taking it well, but they were relatively few, maybe two dozen. The main body of the partygoers was beginning to reform into the center of the gym as Raye and Mina found Serena. Serena was the first to speak, "So, how do you think it went?" The priestess pushed a guy out of her way before answering, "Pretty well I guess. I don't have anything to compare it to." She turned to Mina, "You realize that everyone is paired up but us now." The blonde nodded good-naturedly and said, "Could be worse." She pointed with her chin at Melvin and Molly who were off in a corner. Raye followed where she indicated and put on a face of acceptance, "True, very true." "Hey! We're talking about one of my best and oldest friends here. She can date whoever she wants to!" They turned to see Serena looking a little flushed. Mina gently patted her shoulder and said, "But, Melvin!?" "I never said it was a great choice, but she's happier for it and I don't think he'd ever hurt her." Raye sighed and spoke, "You know she's right." "What do you mean?" The answer came from Mina. "Look at us, constant streams of guys, most of which we either can't stand or don't remember our names a week later." She started making hand gestures at people, "Molly, Serena, Amy, Li..." She paused, and asked confused, "Do you feel that?" "Feel what?" Both girls asked together. "Almost like..." Before she could even finish the sentence a section of roof near the stage gave way. People quickly scrambled for shelter, running around aimless as a mob mentality quickly took over, only to freeze as a large, two-legged, praying mantis- like thing walked in over the rubble. "Hello, children." The monster said, its voice was like the combination of a rasp on wood and a distant echo. I took a step forward and clicked its giant claws, "I'm here for energy, any volunteers?" It waited a moment and when nothing happened took a few steps more, the crowd dispersed immediately, with the exception of Molly who was frozen with fear. "You'll do." The thing reached slowly out towards her, its claw opening completely to reveal row upon row of razor-sharp needles. "No!" A cry rang out from across the room as Melvin ran full-tilt at the thing, when he rammed into it he did no damage, but he got the desired affect of giving Molly a chance to escape, though he was caught instead. As the young girl slipped into the crowd, Melvin was lifted off the ground, the spikes making dozens of dagger-points across his chest and back. The insect-like creature slowly drained the boy of energy as his cries changed from a dull scream to a low gurgling noise, when he was drained the monster dropped his spent form the floor and began to advance again... only to stop dead as a single red rose bisected his path. All eyes in the room looked up through the hole in the roof at the tuxedoed figure. "How dare you attack these innocents, especially on a night of celebration." Tuxedo Mask leapt down and stood eye to eye with the monster. "By doing this you have become an evil that must be dealt with, follow me that we may finish this with no further chance of interruption. Or are you afraid of a level playing field?" With that he leapt up onto the ledge of the roof again. It made a low growl then called back "Mantide fears nothing!" And jumped up after the man. Serena turned quickly and grabbed Mina's and Raye's arms and pulled them into the bathroom and quickly locked the door. ****************** A few moments later Sailors Moon, Mars and Venus leapt out the bathroom window and ran towards the battle that was taking place, they arrived just in time to be too late. Tuxedo Mask had the creature weakened and stumbling. As they approached he called over to them, "Sailor Moon! Finish it!" "Right." She called back with a nod. And quickly pulled out the scepter. As she began to speak the activation words the monster began to flee. "Moon, Scepter... Elimination!" The beast had barely moved a foot before the wave of power hit it. "For the King!" It screamed as it died. It was different from the other monsters in that it did not turn to ash, it seemed to dry up and turn black, only to have its legs crack and it shatter a moment later against the turf. As it fell a sphere of blue energy floated where it once stood, which quickly condensed into a beam and shot through a portal that had formed. Tuxedo Mask turned to the scouts and asked, "Do you know where that came from?" They all shook their heads and shrugged. "Okay then. I'm sorry but I have to go. Besides, they'll be looking for you at the party." Them lingered a moment longer before returning the way they'd come. High on one of the buildings a shadowed form spoke softly and half to himself, "Mantide, I remembered you as much more formidable, I guess five years will do that to a memory." He spoke the words while tracing an ugly scar near the base of his neck. "It is time." He turned and swung down from the roof and into the night like a shadow. ******************** As the girls left the bathroom they found that the chaos had been organized to some degree. Molly was kneeling bedside Melvin who had been laid out correctly and his head pillowed on a folded coat. As they looked around Serena noticed something, pulling a guy over she asked him, "Where's Lita and Amy?" "Who?" He asked. "The two girls who just had their coming out, nice dresses, can't miss'em." "Sorry don't know." "Thanks anyway." Turning back to her friends she asked, "Where were they before that thing came?" Mina answered her, "Over by the... Oh No!" She took off towards the stage and the rubble, after a moment the others caught the meaning and made a mad tear after her. Serena and Raye began moving chunks of cement off the pile and Mina, after enlisting the aid of a couple of guys, soon joined in. They worked furiously for several minutes before they came to a large slab. Using their combined strength they were able to turn the cement over, revealing Lita hunched protectively over Amy. As the light came through Lita lifted her head. "You guys okay?" Serena asked, offering her hand to help Lita out. "Yeah, bumps and bruises, but nothing serious." Lita took the hand and climbed out. Amy sat up in the hole and said, "On the other hand, we really shouldn't be making a habit of this." Mina pulled Amy out and said, "On the plus side, you're dresses aren't torn." Her voice was cheerful, but the girls knew she wasn't just joking. Raye spoke up, "Come on, let's get out of here. Grandpa is gone for a week and we can try and figure this out." The girls nodded and followed her out. *********************** After calling Darien the group began to discuss the situation, they sat in one of the main rooms of the temple, one with several benches and sofas. The couples had assumed 'their' positions: Darien and Serena cuddled together side by each with their hands clasped together, and Lita had her arms around Amy's midsection, with Amy sitting between her legs and leaning back against her, her hands over Lita's. The other two girls sat on a couch facing both pairs, they felt very out of place, but kept it to themselves. "Does anyone know what that thing was?" Mina was the one who spoke. Amy turned her head towards her, "If I had a chance to get a reading I could tell you, but I'm sorry." Raye fielded that one, "No ones blaming you Amy, we all know where you were at the time. The strange thing is that when I felt it coming it felt exactly like the Negaverse slime that Beryl commanded. And I mean exactly." She emphasized the last word heavily. She turned to Darien, "Do you have any ideas?" He shook his head, "Sorry, but I think you're right. It did feel like one of Beryl's." Lita looked over Amy's shoulder at the two cats sitting off to the side. "Do either of you two know anything?" Artemis shrugged and said, "Sorry, I'm more of a trainer, all I know is that the scouts are needed again. How about you Luna?" When the black cat didn't answer they all turned to her. She had her head hung low and was draping the front of her paws over the end of the bench. Artemis tried again, "Luna? Luna? LUNA!?" Finally the black cat jumped to attention. "Are you okay Luna?" Luna nodded and looked at the stars through a window, "Just dreaming old dreams. No, I don't know anything about it." No one caught it as she mouthed the words 'Forgive me' to the heavens. Hours later after reaching no decent explanations, Darien left and the girls decided to spend the night at the temple. ******************* Far off in the shroud of mists she called home, Sailor Pluto was remembering the words her teacher had told her so long ago. "What you must understand, Susan." He called her by her first name for she was barely a scout then. "Is that unlike the way people seem to think, time is not a straight path as is the cut of a knife's blade, it is the myriad paths formed by the hammer when it strikes the ice." He'd walked around the room, "Many choices people make are insignificant, as to choose water or milk to quench a thirst. Yet there are times when the cracks vary in extremely different ways and to choose one thing may alter the future. One day you will be present for one such choice, an odd one in that the outcome will be equally good for the world in general, if not for the individuals or the immediate time frame." "When will this happen?" To this day she was embarrassed at the words. "You should know that only the guardian of time can know that, and you are not yet the one." He scolded her for a moment then his voice softened. "But you will be soon, and even then I you shall not know precisely. For there are those among the people of the worlds that we cannot see the future of, they are all unique and of all walks of life. Few even know they possess this gift, there is only one name for them..." Pluto snapped back to the 'present' as she felt something, she dropped her staff and could only breathe one word through her surprise, "Shadowcaster." ************************ Back at the temple the five girls were preparing to turn in for the night, outside, a single, dark-cloaked figure climbed the stairs, almost a shadow itself. So quietly the figure moved that not even the crows realized it was there, even when they glanced at it. Beneath the cloak a large gloved hand grasped the hilt of a longsword, slowly the figure moved towards the building. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for reading, the next episode should be out in a week or two, please bear with me, I was just trying to set a mood here. I should get this to pick up soon enough. Send any comments to blackgryphon21@hotmail.com
