There?s hardly any physical fighting in here. Mainly the type you see in Ranma ?, but not too serious?maybe later on it will pick up. I set it at PG/PG-13 for some things the couples think and say (no cursing ? I don?t really approve of those things in fanfics?it just takes away the purity of it?something like that.). Prologue It was a beautiful summer day. The birds were singing?the flowers were blooming?and the breeze was moving gently with the clouds. It was a nice, quiet day. Until suddenly? "Waaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! Mom, I don?t wanna wake up yet! It?s not even twelve o?clock yeeeeet!!!" Yup, you guessed it! Hurricane Serena came without warning. "Serena, you can not stay in bed the whole day! Look outside. It?s a wonderful summer day. You should be enjoying it, not spending the whole day cramped up in bed." Ilene Tsukino was a very loving mother. Sure she wanted her daughter to have her beauty sleep, but she also wanted her to live her life to the fullest. Even if it meant getting her butt out of bed early to enjoy the day. "Come on Serena! I want you to enjoy life, not sleep through it. Now get up and get dressed!!!!" With that said, her mother threw the covers off a sleepy Serena. "Fine mom. I?m going?I?m going. Sheesh! What does a girl gotta do to get her beauty sleep in this house?" As her mother walked out, Luna decided to get her two cents worth in. "Serena! You already got quite enough beauty sleep as you call it. Now do as your mother said and get ready." As she said that, she too went back to sleep. "Great! I have a hypocrite for a pet." Serena got up from her bed and looked out the window. "Yup, she?s right. It is a beautiful day." The sun shone in on her bed making the crescent moons and stars printed on her bed sheet glow even brighter. She loved the moon even before she became Sailor Moon, the champion of love and justice. Of course love was just a formality in her life. Sure she had her family and friends, but she didn?t have a "true love" to call her own. Someone to share her deepest fears with and to express true emotion to (things she only saw in movies or read in fairytales). She had Tuxedo Mask to love, but she didn?t know if that love was returned or not. That was another mystery in her life. But she knew that she would eventually find someone someday. Whether it be Tuxedo Mask or some other "Tom Cruise" ? . She knew she would find love someday. "Well, time to face the day!" She said as she got dressed. She put on her favorite pink skirt and white t-shirt with a bunny printed on it. She then grabbed a whining Luna and bolted down the stairs. All Mrs. Tsukino heard as she came out the kitchen was the sound of rumbling down the staircase and an animal screaming "bye mom! I?m going out?be back before dinner!!" And that was the last thing she heard her daughter say before the door slammed shut. Hurricane Serena moved on in seek of another land. As she was running down the sidewalk (at the speed of light) she spotted her friend Mina talking to another girl. She had short, dark-blue hair (like Ami?s) and brown eyes. As a matter of fact, she kind of looked like Ami. She looked around the same age as Serena. "Hi Mina!" Mina turned around to see a girl in a weird hairdo running at top speed her way. "Oh, hi Serena!" "Who?s your new friend, Mina?" "This is Akane Tendo. She?s going to be attending your school this Fall. So I thought we should all get to know each other since we also just met. Maybe she can even be part of our group." "That?s great! I love getting new friends!" *Not that the ones I have aren?t great. Well maybe Raye the Pyro might be an exception. I just love people.* "Hi, my name?s Serena! I live just around the block from here." "Hi, my name is Akane? Akane Tendo. My family and I just moved here from Nerima to get closer to my new school." She thought for a while if she should tell this person the reason she moved. She hadn?t even told Mina yet, since they just met not too long ago. But this girl seemed very trusting to her. As she looked into Serena?s eyes she noticed this was the one girl she was sure to be able to trust. *I guess it wouldn?t hurt telling her.* "They thought it would be better for me to get away from THE FIGHTS at school without having to leave the country." *It?s not really necessary to say they foughtfor my love, is it? Nah!!* "Oh, you remind me of our friend, Lita," Mina said. "She was also kicked out of school from getting into fights. Maybe you two will get along." "Thanks. Well I gotta go meet my fianc頡t the mall. We?re supposed to go shopping for new school clothes since school starts this Monday. Bye!" She said as she went on her way. "Wow, she kind of reminds me of Lita." Said Mina. "Yeah!" Two minutes passed as realization hit the two teenagers. "Whaaaaat!!!!!" They both yelled in unison. "Did she just say what I think she just said?!?" Asked Mina. "I think so. We better check it out when we see her again! If not I can ask Melvin when we get back to school." "You got that right. There?s no way I?m missing out on this gossip, girlfriend!!! And I better be the first person to hear about it when you ask him." As they walked on they realized something. "Hey, Serena?.where are we going anyway?" "Hey, you got me!" Serena said as she realized she didn?t have a plan on where to go once she left the house. "Well, in that case maybe we should get the group together for a meeting. We gotta tell ?em about Akane! There is no way Lita will let us live if she found out we didn?t tell her about it." "Yeah, that?d be great!! Hey, why don?t you go along. I got something to do. ?kay?" "Alright Serena. See you at the arcade later. I?ll call you on the communicator once I?ve got everyone together." She said as she left. "Okay, Mina." As Serena was walking, she started thinking?..*Well, I guess I?ll go to the park. I wonder where Luna is. I?m sure I took her with me when I left. She probably went off to have a date with Artemis (he..he..he ? ). Oh, well. I wanted to be alone anyway.* She started thinking about the last thing Akane said as she left, which brought her down. *Gosh, I can?t believe Akane has a fianc顠I don?t even have a boyfriend and here she comes saying she has a fianc顡* After a while she got so used to talking in her mind that she started to talk out loud without even noticing it. "I just can?t believe it. Why can?t I get a boyfriend!?!" As she said this, she noticed that talking and walking at the same time was not her specialty. For as she said that she tripped on a small crack in her path. As she was gradually tipping over (viewed in slow motion), she could just imagine what the feel of hard asphalt against bare skin would feel like. She squinted her eyes shut waiting for that surge of pain to come full force. She waited?and she waited?.20 seconds?..30 seconds. *Hey, did time just stand still or what!?! Maybe I was just so scared I didn?t feel anything. Yeah, that?s it!!* She fluttered her eyes open expecting to see hard asphalt dangerously close to her face. What she saw however made her wish she was face-to-face with the concrete floor. She was being held up by her worst nightmare. Then she heard it ?. "Hey, meatball head! Did you say something about a boyfriend? Well, with coordination like that I don?t blame anyone for running ? to the nearest shelter that is!" Yup, you guessed it. It was Darien Chiba. Although he was a grown up Senior (no not that type of Senior ? the kind in high school), whenever he ran into a certain "meatball head" it was like she brought out the worst in him (or so he thought). She turned around to face him, since he was holding on to her shoulders from the back to keep her from falling. " I can?t believe you Darien!! For the three months we?ve known each other you have not ever said one nice thing to me!!! Why is that!?! And as for boyfriends, I can get one any day! But don?t worry, ?cause you are definitely NOT on my list of people I consider DATEABLE!" For some reason, her last words hit him like a knife in the back. Never in his life had he been backed down by a girl. And now this fifteen year old turned him down?the GREAT Darien Chiba. He winced as he heard her last words. *Why does it hurt so much when she says things like that? It?s not like I like her or anything. I?m a high school senior soon to be college student and she?s just a? just a?* He suddenly realized what he was going to say? just a kid. But as he looked at her (you could very well say STARED at her) he noticed that this was no kid. But since when did this happen? HE was noticing HER? And not just noticing that she was there but really NOTICING her?her maturity? *Wait a minute, what am I doing!?! Serena and I are just friends?actually more like enemies than friends, but still?* He thought as he continued to stare at her. From her long golden hair to an almost too short skirt, up to the most kiss-able lips he had ever seen, to sky-blue, crystalline eyes. They had been friends/enemies (more on the enemies side/Raye was the fairy godmother compared to him) for 3 months ? and now this happened. As he thought this (which by means of animation happened in a split second) he noticed that she was staring at him as if he was a lunatic on the run. *Does she know what I was just thinking!?!* He asked himself. He quickly pulled himself together, building back ?The Great Wall of Chiba? to hide his true emotions. Then, she errupted ? "Why were you looking at me like that!?! I know I may be whiny and ditzy, and maybe not many boys like me, but you don?t have to rub it in Darien!! You don?t have to look at me like I?m some?some freak!!" She practically screamed as tears threatened to fall down her eyes. "But, Serena?" "Enough, Darien!! I?m tired of putting up with your talk!! I?m not someone you can just push around and expect to come back running around like some sick puppy like your other love-sick bimbos do. Good Bye!" With that said, she bolted out of sight, tears running down her face. To say Darien was shocked was an understatement. He just stood there not knowing what to say or do. In all the months he had known Serena he had never seen her act like that to anyone. It killed him to know that he was the cause of it. *If only she knew the truth.* He thought. At that point all he could remember was seeing the bluest eyes he had ever seen ? blue eyes filled with hurt. A hurt caused by him. *Why didn?t I ever notice these feelings before?* He asked himself. *Now I?ve hurt her. I?ve hurt the only person I?ve ever had any feelings for. Now that I?ve realized that these feelings are not of simple childish annoyance, but of love kept underneath due to fear, what do I do about it? Am I to be alone forever because of this? Because of my fear of opening up to people ... opening up to myself ? to her? What do I do?what do I do?* He kept asking himself on his way to the arcade. Yes, what will Darien do about his feelings for Serena? Will he confess to what he really is and has been feeling all this time? Will Serena ever be able to accept his love after that, yet alone his apology? And what of this new character in our story. What other secrets has she brought with her from Nerima?
