Kon'wa minna! This is my first attempt at posting a fanfic, I hope you like it. It is another Usagi/Mamoru fic. It isn't a really mushy romance, just something I thought up. Really, I wish I were in Usagi's place! Well, I'm going to stop talking and get on with the fic. *Disclaimer: I do not own the writes to Sailor Moon.* *I, also, don't own the writes to Savage Garden.* <><><><><> Title: Birthday Wishes By: Danie-chan Rating: PG Email: daniefrench@ispchannel.com <><><><><> "Usagi-chan, your birthday is coming up soon, isn't it?" I hint to wards my girlfriend, who is sitting in front of me. "Yeah, June 30th," she replies. "How could you forget?" "Well, I was wondering what you might want me to get you." "Well, Savage Garden is coming to the Coliseum on July 10th," she tells me. I should've known! All right, let me fill you in on my Savage Garden OBSESED girlfriend. She is one of those fans that will wait at the store for hours before it opens, just to get the newest CD the day it comes out! When we are in my car [which happens to have a CD player in it] we have to listen to the CD. When I talk to her on the phone I can hear the CD playing in the background. Basically, she's like one of the 'Nsync or BSB fans, but with Savage Garden instead. "The tickets go on sale this Tuesday," she informs me. "I would LOVE to go to the concert, AND go back stage..." she started to trail off. "Usako, I would love to give you the world, but right now I don't have the money for it," I explain to her. "Mamo-chan, I know you would be more than glad to give me the world, but I don't need it. All I need is to be with you," she tells me, in the most serene voice. "Look, Usako, if you want to see Savage garden in concert I'll get you the tickets AND backstage passes," I tell her. I didn't know what I was doing! All I wanted to do was please Usako, MY Usako. <><><><><> After I got home I turned on my computer and got online. I went to a site that had the ticket listings. I typed in ^Savage Garden^ then clicked ^go^. It took the computer a bit to load the page. It came up with a list of places at witch Savage Garden would be performing. I clicked on the one that was labeled ^Savage Garden in Tokyo^. I then waited for the next page to load. It came up with ^Savage Garden at Tokyo coliseum^. Under it where the prices. "$65 for the first 10 rows, $55 for the other rows, and $85 for backstage passes!" I tell myself. I go back to the home page, and then check my email. I noticed I got a letter from mercury-gal@aol.com [Ami-chan]{AN: not a real address, as far as I know} she sent it just a few minutes ago. I open it and read it. She tells me that she would like to throw a surprise party for Usagi-chan. I reply by telling her it would be a good idea to do that and we could have the party at my place. She emailed me back a few minutes later saying she would tell the senshi and we could talk tomorrow at 1:00 at the caf鮠I replied saying that I'd see her there. <><><><><> I got up early, so I could get the tickets for Usako. I went to the coliseum and stood in line for THREE HOURS! By the time it was my turn to get tickets they were about SOLD OUT! I got two tickets and two backstage passes, and paid for them without looking at were we would have to sit [all I knew was that we would be sitting next to each other]. An hour later, after I'm COMPLETELY BROKE, I join Ami-chan at the caf鮠I sit down at the booth she's sitting at. "Kon'wa Ami-chan," I tell her to get her attention from the paper she was writing on. "Kon'wa Mamoru-chan," she replies as she looks up. "What are the books for?" I ask, noticing she brought a few of her textbooks. "Well, I thought if Usagi-chan came by it could look as if you were helping me study," she informed me. "Why are you late?" "I was getting a birthday present for Usagi-chan, and it took longer than I thought it would," I explain to her. "Oh, well here's a list of ideas I thought of while I was waiting for you," she handed me the piece of paper she was writing on. I start to read it. "I was thinking we could make the party into a lunch," she tells me, I wasn't paying much attention to her. "That sounds nice," I reply, still not paying much attention. "I was thinking we could get Makoto-chan to cook for us. That way we don't have to spend all the money to buy pre-prepared food," she continued. "Where is she going to cook the food?" I ask. "Well, the cake she could do at her house, the night before. Then, before the party, she could cook the lunch at your place. Does that sound good?" "Yeah. Now, who are we going to invite?" "Well, let's write it down," she hands me a pen and a notepad. "Alright, we need to invite Makoto, Minako, Rei, Haruka, Michiru, Hotaru, Setsuna, and Usagi-chan's parents," I say as I start to write it down. "Good, now who else?" she tells me. "Yes, Shingo, Motoki, Yuuruchu, Umino, Naru, and you and me." "Well that goes without saying. Anyone else?" "Not that I can think of. Now, WHEN are we going to do the party?" "Well, June 30th is a Friday. We could do it on the following Saturday. That way Usagi-chan's father could come." "That sounds like the best thing to do," she pauses. "What's going to be on the menu?" "Wouldn't it be better to wait for Makoto, till we decide on that?" "Yeah, that's a good idea, but let's, at least, figure out how many people she would have to cook for." I count the people I wrote down. "17 people are on the list," I inform her. "It would be good to tell her to cook for 20." Ami-chan's face suddenly changed. "Here comes Usagi-chan," she told me. She opened up her Algebra 2 book to a marked page. Right when Usagi-chan walked in the door to the caf頁mi-chan started to explain a problem to me. Usagi-chan sees us and comes over to the table. "What are you doing?" she asks me, I scoot over so she can sit down she does so. "Mamoru-chan was just helping me with my Algebra," Ami-chan tells Usagi-chan. "Oh," Usagi-chan replies and rolls her eyes. "Mamoru-chan was just telling me that your birthday is coming up. What would you like?" Ami-chan asks. "I want to be a normal teenager," Usagi-chan replies, so innocently. Ami-chan was dumbfounded. She was quiet for a wile then took Usagi-chan's hand and said "Usagi-chan, we all want that, but we know we have to follow our destiny." "I don't care about some *destiny*!" Usagi-chan almost shouted at Ami-chan. "Why can't I just be a normal teenager? Is that to much to ask for?" she begins to cry. I wrap my arm around her. "Would you rather go on hating my guts?" I ask her. "No," she replies with a sniffle, "but that's beyond the point." "Well, if we were never part of the senshi then we probably never have become friends," I tell her. She looks up at me, those beautiful, blue eyes looking into my dark blue ones. "I would never want that," she almost whispers so softly I can barely hear her. I bend my head over and gently lift her chin up, and gently kiss her on the lips. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Ami-chan blush, I didn't care. <><><><><> ~4 weeks later~ I walk up the steps to Usako's door. I ring the doorbell. She opens it a few seconds later. I walk in. "Where's your mom and Shingo?" I ask. "Momma took Shingo to get new shoes," she tells me. "Okay, well, I was wondering if you would like to do lunch at my place." Her eyes got big and she replied, "Sure, that sounds fantastic, Mamo-chan!" I couldn't really tell if she wanted to eat or if she wanted to be alone... with me... in my apartment. <><><><><> We got out of the car and walked into the apartment building. We decided to take the stairs. We walk down the hallway to where my apartment is. We got to the door and I got my key out. I fiddled with the doorknob, the signal, and turned the key. I opened the door and we walked in I turned on the lights. Everyone yelled "SURPRISE!" Usagi- chan screamed when she saw all the people. Mokoto-chan walked up to Usagi-chan. "The food is in the kitchen, if you're hungry," Mokoto-chan told her. I rolled my eyes at that, very stupid, comment. Usagi-chan went into the kitchen and got 2 plates of food. She came out and handed me one. Everyone else got their plates and sat down to eat. I looked around the room and saw Naru and Umino talking to Shingo. I looked over to Minako-chan and saw she was *impersonating* Sailor V. Needless to say, my jaw dropped to the floor. Yuuruchu-kun was telling her that she REALLY looked like Sailor V. 'Now, I wonder, WHY?' I asked myself, as I shook my head. A wile later Makoto-chan rounded everyone up and then brought out the cake. The cake was chocolate and had white icing with words that read ^Happy 17th Birthday, Usagi-chan!^ it, also, had little senshi figures on it. Makoto-chan stuck a match and held it to Sailor Moon's head, at that point I noticed the senshi where candles. Personally, I think Usako's ditzyness has rubbed off on me. She lit the other senshi and Tuxedo Kamen. Everybody sang Happy Birthday Usagi-chan, and then Usako blew out the candles. After everyone ate the cake Usako opened presents. I saved mine for last. First, she got a jewelry box from her parents. Next, she got a Sailor V figure from Shingo-chan. After that, she got a poster of Savage Garden from Umino-kun and Naru-chan. Motoki-kun gave her one of those UFO catcher dolls. Yuuruchu-kun gave her some magna. Minako-chan, who had changed back from Sailor V, gave her a gift certificate for a store at the mall. Makoto-chan gave her a cookbook. I swear I turned pale. Rei-chan gave her some more magna. Ami-chan gave her a cresset moon shaped alarm clock. As if that would be useful. Haruka and Michiru gave her a game for her Nintendo 64. Hotaru gave her some hair ties. Does she need any more? Setsuna told her she'd give her the present later. I handed Usako a jewelry box the size for a bracelet. She opened it, thinking she would find a bracelet, and then screamed, "Ohmygod! It'stheticketstotheconcert!" when she found something else. She leaned over and hugged me. "Usako, please let me go." I gasped because she was squeezing SO tightly. "Sorry," she apologized and let me go. "Thank you, SO much." She then kisses me. <><><><><> Everyone goofed off for about the next hour or so. After everyone, except Setsuna-san, had left she came over to Usagi and handed her a box. "It's from Chibi-Usa," Setsuna told Usako. Usako gently opened the box from her future daughter. The first thing she saw was a sealed envelope. She turned it over to read the front and found ^To: Usagi-chan^ in her handwriting. She opened the envelope and read: Dear Usagi-chan, I can't thank you enough for helping Small Lady become a great sailor scout. She has told us so much about the 20th century. I am also sorry if this troubled you any. I want to wish you a happy birthday. Oh, have fun at the concert. Sincerely, Neo-Queen Serenity Usako put the letter back in the envelope. She continued to look through the box. In the bottom she found a photo album. She opened it and found pictures of Chibi-Usa and everyone. I looked at her face and I think I saw a tear roll out of her closed eyes. "Thank you, Setsuna-san." Usagi-chan almost whispered to the older senshi. "No problem. Small Lady put this together just for you, she would have liked to give it to you herself but the queen and king don't want her to travel through time any more." Setsuna-san told her. Usako just nodded. <><><><><> ~July 10~ I walk up the stairs to Usako's front door. I look towards the west to see the pink and orange sunset, as I ring the doorbell. I remember the times Usako and i have spent looking at the sunset. Usako opens the door wile I'm in my ever-peaceful la-la land. "Mamo-chan?" she finally brings me back to life. "Are you ready?" I ask. "Yes," she replies as she walks out the door. We get in the car and drive off to the Tokyo Coliseum. <><><><><> We drive into the parking lot and see nothing less than a million cars. Anyhow we, amazingly, find a parking spot. We get out of the car and walk up, to the doors. I get the tickets out of my coat pocket [Usako told me to hold on to them so she wouldn't loose them]. I look at were we are suppose to sit and find out that it's in the SECOND ROW! I'm surprised Usako didn't see this. I hand the tickets to the guy who takes the stubs. Before we sit down I ask Usako if she needed any refreshments. Amazingly, she answered no. So, we find our seats. About half an hour after we sat down the lights went almost completely out and about a million people screamed when Darren Hays and Daniel Jones stepped out on stage. I put in my earplugs, that didn't stop the noise from entering my ears. The guys walked to the edge of the stage and started talking to the crowd. After the speech they began to play, what I think to be the best song, 'The Animal Song'. I look over to Usako and see she's singing along and enjoying herself. The concert goes on for the next hour and a half. I see the sweat on Darren's face, I look over to Usako and see sweat on her face too. "Well it has been a joy performing here tonight," Darren told the crowd, who screamed in response. "Now we would like to play the last song for tonight." He nodded to Daniel and he began the song 'I Knew I Loved You'. I look over to Usako, she's singing the song. I think back to the time we first heard the song on the radio. Usako knew from the first time she heard the singer that it was Savage Garden's newest single. Since that night it has been our song. The song ends. "Thank you all for coming to see us. Hope you had fun," Darren tells the crowd, who, guess what, scream in response. "Drive safely." He then walks back stage. We walk out to the main hall and I take out the back stage passes. We walk up to the door and show the man the passes. He lets us by. <><><><><> ~About an hour later~ Usako is sitting at a table talking to Darren and Daniel. I'm sitting across from a lady typing on a laptop. "So, who are you?" I ask the woman typing on her laptop. "I'm Leonie Messer," she replies. "I'm the PA." "What are you doing?" I ask as she goes back to typing. "I'm updating the web page," she tells me. "Can I see?" "Sure," she replies and I switch to a seat next to her. "So you have your own diary type of thing on the page?" "Yes. I try to update it as often as possible. Basically, I write down what the band has been doing. I post pictures, most the time. It helps the fans see what is going on." "Wow! You do all that?" "Yeah, in a way." "When do you do the pictures?" "Later, when I scan them in. Speaking of pictures I'd like to post a picture of the guys, you, and your girlfriend. Would that be alright?" "Sure." She calls the guys and Usako over. We pose and she takes a picture. I look down at my watch. It's about 10:00! I tell Usako this and we say "Ja ne!" to the band and everyone. <><><><><> I walk Usako up the steps to the front door to her house. We share a good night kiss. I drive home thinking about the wonderful night I had. <><><><><> <><><><><> So, what did you think? Please let me know. I'm thrilled when I get email. I'll try to get back to you ASAP. I probably wont post another fic for about a month. This is because I have finals.
