Title: Seals of Heart and Space Author: E. Cypher E-Mail: LunarEB2@aol.com Rating: PG Hi all!! This is my first real attempt at a fic, so I don't know how this will go but...hope ya like it! Anyway, I wasn't sure how to set this story up, so I decided to use a wonderful idea I got from another writer, namely Alicia Blade-a personal inspiration of mine, to organize the multiple POV's that will probably end up in here. So I'm going to be using a habit I've acquired from elsewhere, like this - ::Darian::. Well, enjoy the story, I look forward to hearing your opinions. Oh yeah, and this happens before Serena and Darian know each others secret identities, k? Okay, here's the usual run down. I in no way own Sailor Moon or Slayers. Okay? Okay. Now, heeeere we go- Chapter 1: Introductions ::Darian:: It's a beautiful day out. Clear sky, bright sun, and I'd gotten out of my college classes early, so now I headed to the arcade. Haven't talked to Andrew in a few days, been so busy with my med class work, so I figured it was about time I sat down with him, had some coffee, and just mainly rambled. Oh yeah, and probably insult Meatball Head again, can never get to much of that. I smile to myself. For some reason it just brightens my whole day, having a heated arguement with that girl. It's not like me of course, Andrew can verify that, but she just seems to bring it out of me. I sigh and let my thoughts drift for the rest of the walk. ::Andrew:: I was busy wiping down some of the booths in the arcade when I glanced down at my watch. Hmm, school got out about five minutes ago, that means... "Hi Andrew!!" I hear a familiar upbeat voice yell out. I smile and turn to see a young girl with long blond hair enter the arcade. "Hey there Serena, how ya been?" I ask, throwing the wash rag into the water bucket I had. "I'm GREAT! School's out, I'm going out with my friends later, and I can be there on time because I didn't get a single detention today!!" She bounced in and sat herself down on a bar stool as I rounded it face her. "Can I get you anything?" I ask, laughing at how the simplest thing makes her day. "Just some water thanks, it's really hot out there." I turn to get her a cup when I notice another arrival. Hmm, he's out early today... ::Serena:: "Thanks Andrew!" I exclaim as he sets the glass down in front of me. "Boy it's going to be nice to not have Raye on my case. I'll actually be early! That'll show her." "Wow, so miracles do happen, eh Meatball Head?" Comes a deep voice from behind me. I almost cringe at the sound and turn with a half scowl on my face. "Nice try Darian, but you can't ruin my good day that easily." Then I blink as a thought hits me. "Wait, aren't you supposed to still be in school?" He raises an eyebrow at that. I wonder what he thinks is so interesti...WAIT a sec, since when do I know so much about HIS schedule??? He practically voices my thoughts. "Since when do you know, or care, about my schedule?" I can almost feel that conceited smirk on his face. It's infuriating and I struggle for a response. "I..I don't, it's just," finally a thought hits me, "I do my best to avoid your annoying prescence!" I wait for his comeback with a straightface, but suprisingly, he just looks at me and chuckles. "Okay okay, we'll leave it at that, you're not the only one having a good day," he says and turns to Andrew. "Hey bud, think I could get a coffee out of you?" "Sure Dar, be right with you," he turns and fills a mug. "Here ya go, I have some work to do, so enjoy," then he walks off to take care of his stuff. Meanwhile I'm sitting there rather stunned. He was actually nice to me, okay, just WHAT happened to Darian??? Not that I mind. "I think that's the first time you've let an argument go, what's with you today?" I ask him, rather hesitantly lest I ruin the mood. He merely shrugs. "As I said, you're not the only one having a good day, and I just don't feel like it now..Meatball Head." I almost yell at him for that, yet he says it so calmly and almost kindly that I can't seem to get the words out. Instead I just shake my head and get up from the stool. "Well I have to go before I'm.." I glance at the clock, " OH NO! I'm still going to be late!" I grab my stuff and sprint for the door. "Bye Darian!" I yell, turning only slightly to wave as I round the now open doorway. I wonder why he was being so nice...and even more at why he had that strange expression on his face as I left. I shrug it off and keep sprinting. Oh well, better hurry!! And with that, I brush the matter off and hurry to the scout meeting at the temple. Meanwhile Elsewhere... ::Lina:: I yawn and open my eyes, stretching in the new morning sun. "What an exhausting night! Who would've thought that those bandits had a sorceror working for them?" I shrug and pat a rather large pouch beside me, smiling. "Oh well, he was no match, and I still got all the treasure!" I smile until I realize something. " Oh yeah! Let's see how much all this treasure is worth." I sit up on my knees and begin rummaging through the bag... "Hmm, a bunch of gems, fifty gold coins-give or take-, and what's this?" I pull a small silver pendant out of the bag. It bears a crescent moon design with a small onyx on one side, and shows images of the four elements on the other. "Well, don't find this type of stuff on thieves often." I slip the chain gently over my head, and see dark forms in the trees surrounding me as I do so. I sigh to myself. "Don't they ever give up?" I close the bag, tie it to my belt, and stand up. "Okay, come on out!" They move to come into the clearing, but suddenly another form enters the scene. "Hey there Lina! Where ya been?" I turn to my "partner", young man with long blond hair and blue eyes. He's dressed in his normal light blue shirt and breeches along with his shoulder and leg guards and his breastplate. He may not be bright, but he's not a bad fighter, I've seen enough to know that. ::Gourry:: "Hey there Gourry, you arrived just in time to have some fun!" she calls out to me. She's a short young girl with long red hair and, oddly enough, red eyes as well. She has a pair of red breeches with black boots and a blue threaded shirt with a cream white cloth wrapped around her chest, and another around her back from left side to right. She also has shoulder covers, though more for design then effectiveness, and they stretch out a bit beyond her shoulders. The right reaches a good upper arm length out, while the left only a about half that far and has a red orb imbedded in it right at the shoulder. From these a black cloak flows outward in the wind. Like myself, though somewhat smaller, she has a sword sheath at her hip. I look at her rather blankly. "Fun? What do you mean Lina?" She gestures out around her. "Why these bandits here where just about to ambush helpless little me I believe." I look around and sure enough the shadows are there. She turns back them. "So show yourselves already!" Finally they all stalk out of the trees , trying to maintain what look they may have left after being discovered. A bandit up in front of Lina glares at me. "This doesn't involve you pal, just back off and let us take our business out on this here little girl." Did I mention she was really short? Well, she's a bit underdeveloped too, but I've learned better then to mention that. I glance around, noting where they've all placed themselves, easy pickings. "Hmm, what do you think Lina?" I ask looking at her. She puts her head in her hand as if to ponder it. "Well, I took care of the main group, you can handle these guys." Then she carelessly turns her back on them and walks towards me. The bandit stares after her. "Hey! How dare you turn your back on us! Get her guys!!" He calls out and they all leap towards her with swords drawn. In a blink I draw my own sword and dash forward, blocking the closest attackers and knocking them to the ground with a single stroke before moving on to the rest. It's over in a minute. I turn to the bandit leader, who now cowers on the ground, and he bolts instantly, the rest scattering likewise. I sheath my sword and turn back to Lina who is leisurely lying on the grass. "Raid another group of thieves did we?" She looks up at me. "Oh come on Gourry, with Rezo gone it's back to the normal days." She smiles and turns back to the sky. I sit down beside her. "And Zelgadis too, who knows where he's run off to this time." I just look down at her for a minute before turning up the sky as well. It's a nice day out, but an odd area of black clouds are on the horizon. I shrug. Thinking is Lina's department. "So where're we headed now Lina?" I glance back down at her to see her fingering a pendant absently. "Wherever the road takes us, after we sell this treasure of course." She smiles and winks up at me, then looks out at the clouds I'd seen. "Hmm, wonder where that storm came from, looks kind of strange." Now we just sit, or lay, there, enjoying the day and resting for whatever may come next...
