Anyway, I want to give my thanks to all of you who continue to e-mail me, and give me the confidence to go on. GRACIAS AMIGOS!! As always, I must give thanks to Cassima, for her wonderful idea. *Post favorite disclaimer here* ( In other words, I don?t own any characters appearing in Sailor moon, or any other piece of genius that I choose to select from. All other characters, however, do belong to me, but if you really want to, use ?em. Just tell me about it). enjoy! Sunlight poured in through the window, despite the heavy curtains. As the light hit her face, Usagi groaned and snuggled into Mamoru?s embrace. The light persisted, however, and she, with a final groan, sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. With the loss of her form curled next to him, Mamoru woke as well. "Morning, Usagi." "Yea, yea. Good morning my butt." Usagi said, grumbling off to the shower. ~ She certainly woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. ~ Thought Mamoru, as he went to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. ************************************************************************ Usagi emerged from the shower, damp but in a much happier mood. ~ mmmm, is that coffee I smell? Mamoru must have made some. He is so thoughtful. ~ She walked over to the closet, searching for some clothes to wear for the day. She finally decided on a pair of navy slacks, a white button down shirt, and a matching pea coat. Finally dressing, She fashioned her hair into a long plait, swinging it over her shoulder. * Knock, knock * "Come in, Mamoru." Usagi called from the vanity table. "I thought you might like a cup of coffee, so I brought you one, just the way you like it." Usagi smiled at him in gratitude. "This is just what I needed right now, thank you much." Mamoru smiled at her, and took a seat on her bed. "So what is the plan for today, Usagi?" "Well, first we pack. Then We shut up the house, I wont sell it." "All right, Usagi. So when is our flight anyway?" "The plane leaves at 2. That gives us exactly 1 and a half hours to get organized and to the airport." "Got ya. I am going to pack my stuff up, and then when you are done, we?ll go." Mamoru said, quietly leaving the room. Usagi stared at her reflection in the vanity mirror, not liking what she saw. ~ Oh, Rei. I will miss you so much, always know that I love you. ~ Usagi thought, fingering the red crystal of Rei?s that she now wore. ********************************************************************** Half an hour later, Usagi locked the door tightly to the house that once belonged to her sister Rei. Putting the keys in her purse, Usagi walked away from the door, not once looking back at the house. Mamoru placed his hand on her shoulder, offering her what he could. She smiled gratefully up at him, and taking his hand in her own, started walking down toward the air port. They arrived there a half hour later, checked their baggage, and waited to board the plane. They boarded the plane a short time later, and went to their seats. "Usagi," Mamoru said, "Do you want the window seat?" "No, Mamoru, you take it." "All right Usagi." Mamoru said, sliding into his seat. He lifted up the middle arm rest so that Usagi could lean comfortably on him, if she wished. Usagi sat down in her seat, and slowly buckled her seat belt. She kept her eyes down, and her hands in her lap, not saying a word. "Usagi?" "Yes?" "What is wrong?" "Nothing. I am fine." "Don?t try to lie to me, Usagi. I can tell when you lie to me, and I don?t like it. I would like you to tell me what bothers you, so that I could possibly help." Usagi looked up sharply at him. "How could you possibly help me? Can you undo death?" "Not in Rei?s case, Usagi. She never truly died, just faded away." "What?" "She spent all of her energy on you, and ceased to exist. She never died, because she ceased to be. Although, that isn?t entirely true." "What do you mean not entirely true?" "I mean that she does exist, in her crystal. Her being went into her stone as her energy failed her. As you have the stone, she is always with you." Usagi?s eyes brightened up a bit, and she smiled at Mamoru. "I never thought of it like that. Thankyou, Mamoru." Usag said, giving Mamoru a huge hug. She leaned her form against him, and settled in nicely. ********************************************************************** Two hours later found Usagi and Mamoru in the airport terminal of Scotland, trying to rent a car. About 15 minutes later, they found themselves the proud renters of a green Volkswagen beetle. They drove off toward Edinburgh, in search of a hotel. They ended up staying in this quaint little hotel, with a view of the sea. After they settled in to their room, Mamoru decided to take a nap, while Usagi needed to use the phone. Usagi dialed the number, and waited for the phone to be answered. "Hello?" "Ami, is that you?" "Yes, who is this?" "Ami, It?s me, Usagi." "Usagi? Oh, my! Where are you?" "I am in Edinburgh. Can we meet somewhere?" "Yes, of course, Usagi. When about?" "How about I come and visit you in an hour?" "Yes, that would be fine. See you then Usagi." "All right, Good bye, Ami." "Good bye Usagi." Usagi hung up the phone, and sat down in a chair, sighing. ~ I wonder how Ami is doing after all this time. ~ Usagi sat down at the small desk the room had provided, and on a sheet of paper, wrote: Mamoru, When you wake up, I won?t be here. I will return later, probably a few hours from now. I had to speak with someone, and I thought it best if you didn?t come. Please don?t take offense, but she is shy with people she doesn?t know, and I need straight answers from her. Please understand. I will be back shortly. Usagi. She placed the note next to his slumbering form, and grabbing her coat, exited the room. Getting into the car, she drove about 40 miles into the country side, until she saw a small house with blue shutters on the windows. She stopped the car and got out. * Knock, knock * A Petite woman answered the door. She wore a pair of jeans, and a light blue heavy knit sweater. Her hair was colored a pretty shade of midnight blue, cropped short, and only served to bring out her lovely sky blue eyes. "Yes?......Oh, hello, Usagi. It is nice to see you again." "Same here, Ami. So how has life been treating you?" Usagi asked as she was ushered inside the small dwelling. "I have been fine, Usagi. Greg and I have been quite happy here." "Speaking of which, where is Greg?" "He is in town, working on a project for the firm. So, did you come here with Rei?" "No, Ami, I didn?t. Rei died, well sort of." "Really?" Ami asked, visibly shocked. "When? How?" "She died a week ago, well I should say she ceased to be a week ago. She died saving me." "What do you mean, ceased to be?" "I mean that when she gave her energy to save me, she faded away into this ruby crystal." Usagi said, holding the necklace up to Ami. "I am truly sorry, Usagi. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love dearly." Ami said, rising to give Usagi a hug. Usagi smiled at Ami, and they both sat back down. "Now, Ami, I would like your help in my mission. I want you to help me track down my mother." "Of course, Usagi. I will help you in any way that I can. When should I start?" "As soon as you can, Ami. I have to go now, Mamoru will be expecting me back." "Who is Mamoru, Usagi?" "Mamoru is my companion. He is also promised to my mother, and this adds to the reasons I have to kill her. I won?t allow her to take him from me." Usagi said, noticing Ami?s nod. "I always thought that you would fall in love one day, although I never thought it to be with someone who is practically forbidden to you. Next time, though, bring him along. I want to see who the mighty Usagi has fallen for." With a wave of goodbye, Usagi was back on the road toward the hotel. ********************************************************************** Mamoru was up by the time she had returned. "Hello, Usagi. Did you have a nice visit?" "Yes, thank you. Ami says that she would like to meet the man who made the great Usagi fall in love." "So you fell in love with me, eh?" Mamoru said, a mischievous smile on his lips. "Yes. Don?t look at me like that, Mamoru. I don?t like it when you are up to no good." "What, me, up to no good?" Mamoru said, placing an innocent look on his handsome face. "Are there any other people named Mamoru in this room?" "Well, in that case.." Mamoru said, quickly running over to Usagi and picking her up, slinging her over his shoulder. She laughed and pounded on his back. "Let me go! Mamoru! I am warning you! Let me go, Mamoru, this instant!" "As you wish, my lady." Mamoru said, slowly letting Usagi slip down his back head first. "NO! Wait!" "But I thought you wanted me to let you go?" "I do, but on my feet, not my head." "Sorry, no can do. You have got to give me something first." "No way!" "Have it your way." Mamoru said, letting her slip some more. "Wait! All right, all right. What do you want?" "I want a kiss." "That?s all?""For now." "Well, that is simple enough. So let me down, and I will give you the kiss." Mamoru released her to the floor, and she dashed for the door, laughing all the way. Mamoru barely caught her arm, but catch it he did. He forcefully pulled her back to him, and taking her by the shoulders, kissed her passionately. She leaned into his strong frame as the kiss went on, wrapping her arms around his waist. When the kiss ended, they both just stood there, holding on to each other tightly. "Now, that wasn?t so bad, was it?" Mamoru said, grinning at Usagi. She answered him by punching him playfully in the arm. ********************************************************************** That night, Mamoru and Usagi decided to drive into Glasgow, giving up their lodgings in Edinburgh. The drive took an hour, and when they arrived, they immediately headed for a hotel, arriving at the Westmoor hotel. They acquired a suite on the top floor. The room, done in all shades of blue, had 4 rooms in all, a sitting room with a built in mini kitchen, two bathrooms, and a bedroom with a king sized bed in it. Mamoru had wanted two rooms, but Usagi wanted one because she could not sleep properly without Mamoru holding her. So in the interest of Usagi?s well being, or so he said, they got the one room. They got there, and after tipping the bell boy, Mamoru suggested that Usagi take a nap, and when she woke up, dinner would be all situated. As Usagi closed the bedroom door, Mamoru picked up the phone, and dialed room service. 15 minutes later, a knock on the door was heard. ~ Geez, they certainly are fast with service around here. ~ Mamoru thought to himself as he walked to the door. "Just bring it..........Who are you?" "Now, now, Mamoru. It isn?t polite to talk to people like that. You know who I am, just think about it for a minute." Said a tall, slim man. He had blond hair, cut stylishly short, and chocolate brown eyes. He wore a simple button down white shirt, and black slacks, complimenting his physique. "Ryan?! How? What?" "Close your mouth, Mamoru. You are likely to catch something in there." "But you can?t possibly be here! I killed you long ago." "Oh, Mamoru. You should really make sure things are dead when you kill them." "I am ordering you know to leave." Mamoru said, assuming an authoritative tone. "Oh, so the great protecting prince is finally asserting himself, eh? Well, I am not quite ready to leave yet. I came to have a look at this all powerful Day Walker of yours. I hear she is quite lovely." "You will never see her, much less touch her." Mamoru said, through clenched teeth. "Is that so? We will see about that." Ryan said, walking straight past Mamoru, and into the bedroom that Usagi was currently inhabiting. When he opened the door, he gasped slightly at the slumbering angel before him. ~ She is fairer than the fairest rose. ~ Ryan thought to himself. Suddenly, Mamoru was in front of him, pushing him backwards and away from the bedroom door. Swiftly closing the door behind him, he turned to Ryan again. "You have had your look, now leave before I kill you again." "You are truly lucky, Mamoru, but that luck won?t last long, trust me. I will have her for myself." "Never!" "Oh, she will be mine. The dark angel will be mine, not yours any longer." "Get out." Ryan turned to leave, but before he disappeared, he bowed mockingly to Mamoru. As the door slammed shut after Ryan, he stood in the hallway, and thought, ~ I will invade her dreams, and make her love me. I will do it tonight. ~ ********************************************************************** * Usagi?s dream * ********************************************************************** Usagi sat in a vast meadow, full of beautiful wildflowers. The air was sweetly perfumed, and the sun shone brightly. She sat admiring the pretty flowers, humming a song to herself, when she felt a pair of arms encircle her. She leaned back into their warmth, feeling content. "Mamoru.." "I am not Mamoru, my dear." "Who are you then?" Said Usagi, lost in a sort of dream like haze. "I am the one who truly loves you. Mamoru isn?t here for you because he doesn?t really love you." "No! He loves me.....I know he does." "How do you know?" "He told me." "How do you know that wasn?t just a ploy to get you to trust in him? How do you know that he wasn?t just using you?" "He wouldn?t........couldn?t ........I want you to go away." "Not yet. You have to give me something first." "No, I don?t have to give you anything. This is my dream, and I say you have to leave." "Do I have to force you?" "At least I wouldn?t have done it willingly." "Very well." the man brought Mamoru into her field of vision, and held a knife to his throat. "Give me what I desire, and I will not kill Mamoru. Don?t give it to me, and he will be dead, just like your sister." "Please! Just don?t hurt him. I will give you what you want." "You promise?" "Yes, just let him go." "All right. Come to the tavern at the end of your street, and I will collect there." He said, disappearing. ********************************************************************** Usagi woke up with a start, but urgent to get to her destination. She threw on a pair of shoes, and ran out the door, past a very confused Mamoru. Mamoru quickly followed her, and became very unnerved when she entered the tavern. He snuck up to a window, and saw Usagi be approached by Ryan. He led them to a booth in back, and she seemed to go willingly. He entered the tavern, and grabbed a table near enough to them to hear their conversation, but far enough away to where they wouldn?t notice his presence. "What do you want?" Usagi asked sadly. "Why, little bunny, I want you." Ryan smiled at her gasp. "You can?t have me. I belong with another, and you aren?t him." "But I could be. You know what will happen if you refuse me." "I.......I......I know." Usagi said, bowing her head down. "There there, now. No reason for tears, I can be a quite pleasant person to be with. I could make you quite happy." "If it will save him, I will go with you. I ask one thing, however." "And what would that be, my sweet?" "I would like to tell Mamoru goodbye." "No." "Why not? He can?t stop me, If I don?t want him to." "All right, but you only get 5 minutes, after that, I will come up and get you, and you don?t want me to do that." Usagi got up, and left the tavern, heading back to her room at the hotel. Mamoru left unnoticed, and took after her. He caught her on her way to the elevator, and quickly ushered her inside. "What are you doing here, Mamoru?" " I followed you. I won?t let you go with him you know." Usagi leaned up, and whispered in his ear, "I don?t plan to go with him." "What? Why did you tell Ryan that you would, then?" "So that he would let me go back to the room. I plan to make him come up to get me, and then to kill him." "Ryan is not easy to kill, Usagi." "How do you know?" "I tried once, long ago." "What happened?" "Ryan and I were friends once long ago. We were close just like brothers, but he always wanted what I had. One day, He fell in love with a girl that I had fallen in love with as well. He got upset when I wouldn?t give her to him, and he challenged me to a duel. We met the next morning at dawn, and I ended up shooting him to death, or so I thought." "Well, things are different now. I won?t fail to kill him, and he will finally die." * Knock, knock * "Usagi." Called Ryan in a sing song voice. "Just a minute, Ryan." Usagi called back. "I don?t think so." Ryan burst through the door, eyes rolling wildly. "Now I told you........." Ryan couldn?t finish as he had been impaled on a silver stake. "And I told you that I wouldn?t go with you." Usagi said, backing away from his slumped form. She backed against Mamoru, and he put his arms around her. "Why, Usagi? I could have loved you.........." "But I couldn?t love you." "I hope the queen gets your precious Mamoru..............Usagi............" Ryan?s form fell lifelessly to the floor, slowly disappearing into dust. "I had better call Ami, and get her started on tracking the Queen." Usagi said, walking over to the pile of dust that was Ryan, and reclaiming her stake. "These are expensive. No need to discard it just cause it was used." She said, placing it in its holder on her thigh. "You gonna call Ami now?" "Yea. Why don?t you call room service and get them to send up some dinner, I am starving." "Will do, Usagi." "Hello Ami?...............Yea, its me..........." ********************************************************************** Well, hello again. So what did you all think of this latest chapter?
