Usagi, Vampire Slayer part 7 by Danielle Nikita1041@aol.com Hiya, everybody! I am terribly sorry about the lateness of this chapter, but Economics took over all my time last week. So I beg your pardons for the delay. Anyway, as always, I wanna say thanks to Celest, Terra, Vidalark, Athena, Kit Kat, Niltiac, chibi Kimoko, and SugarKaty9. THANK YOU. Also a special thanks to Cassima for her inspiring idea. Smoochi Boochies! (Gotta love that movie Mall Rats!) Enjoy! ********************************************************************** Ami sat at her computer, furiously typing. She had accessed the main tunnel system of Scotland, and was currently doing a bio scan. ~ Section 4.....nothing. Section 5.....nothing.. ~ Suddenly, the screen began to flash wildly. "Bingo!" Ami exclaimed excitedly. "Ready or not, lady, here we come." Ami picked up the phone, and dialed Usagi?s number. "Usagi?......Guess what?...........yea, I found her for you........OK, come over in an hour.......OK, see you, bye." ********************************************************************** Usagi hung up the phone, and ran into the livingroom. "Mamoru!" "What Usagi?" "Come on. Get some shoes on, we are going to see Ami now. She got a lead on the Queen." "All right, Usagi. Give me a minute, Kay?" Mamoru said, reaching for his shoes. ~ So much for a quiet evening. ~ Usagi and Mamoru exited the room, locking the door behind them, and heading toward the hotel garage. Climbing into the green Volkswagen, they immediately set off towards Ami?s house. The entire drive to Ami?s place was spent with Usagi looking straight ahead, not saying anything, and Mamoru staring out the passenger window, silent as well. After a while, the house with blue shutters came into Usagi?s view. "Mamoru?" "Yeah?" "We?re here. Ami will be glad to meet you." "She figured out where the Queen was, right?" "Yeah." "Then I will be glad to meet her too." Mamoru replied, looking toward the house in the brief distance. **************************************************************** Knock, knock * "Hello?" Came a voice from inside the door. "Ami? Its me, Usagi." "Oh, Usagi, come in." Said a pretty and petite woman from the now open door. Ami waved them inside, taking note of Mamoru?s presence. "You must be Mamoru. Pleased to meet you." Ami said, sticking out her hand, he shook it. "Yeah, that would be me, Ami." Usagi had already taken a seat, and Mamoru came and sat near her, both across from Ami. "So, Ami, what did you find?" Usagi asked, eager to start. "Well," Ami started, "Just below sector 6 of the tunnel system, I detected the Queen and her followers. The sector has an easy access point from the subway system at sector 5." "And that is where our entrance point will be?" Mamoru asked. "Yeah, We enter from there, and make a short treck to sector 6. My bio scan tells me that they are scattered all about sector 6, so we will have to be careful." "How big is sector 6?" "It is approximately a mile in length, and half a mile wide. Its a big chunk of terrain to cover." "All right. Do you guys feel up to a scouting mission tomorrow morning?" "Yeah, Usagi." Mamoru replied. "Sure, Usagi." Ami agreed. "Then it is all settled. Now we can catch up, Ami, and you can more properly meet Mamoru." Usagi said, relieved to have everything planned out. "So, Ami, where are Greg and Aya?" "Greg is in Dublin at his office, and Aya is at school there as well." "Really? Wow, so how is she these days?" "She is just like me when I was her age, except she is the social butterfly I never was." "Ami, we were always there for you, who needed those stuck up girls anyway." "I know, Usagi. I was never alone, thanks to you and the girls, but just deep down I always wanted to be popular." Ami said, frowning thoughtfully. Usagi smiled comfortingly at Ami, and asked "And how is Greg?s business coming along?" "With the tips that you gave him, Usagi, his business has been booming. He has taken the business to the top of its field." "Well, that?s great. I am glad I was able to help him out, he deserves to be number one." Ami smiled at the compliment Usagi paid her husband, and then turned to Mamoru. "So, Mamoru, tell me more about yourself." "Well," Mamoru started, "I am sure Usagi here told you the basics about me. I am Usagi?s protector, as well as her companion. I would do anything for her." Usagi took his hand in hers and squeezed it, smiling at him. "So what is this I hear about you being betrothed to the Queen?" "Well, yes that is true. I was promised to her since I was born, but Usagi will fight for me. I love her, and she loves me, and we will be together." "This is the new reason that I must defeat the Queen, not that the first is any less now." Usagi stated. Ami nodded, recognizing their love, as it was similar to the one her and Greg shared. Usagi looked at her wrist watch, and noticed that they had been here for a few hours. "Ami, Mamoru and I have to go, it?s getting late. What time do you want to do the scout tomorrow?" "How about 10 a.m.?" "Is that OK, Mamoru?" At his nod, Usagi said "Yeah, we will be there at 10." With a wave of goodbye, they left Ami?s place and headed back into Glasgow, toward food and sleep. ********************************************************************** When they arrived back at the hotel, Mamoru turned to Usagi and asked, "Do you want to go out for dinner?" "If you don?t mind, I would love to." "All right then, you go get dressed, and I will call down for a recommendation." Mamoru said, ushering Usagi into the bedroom. He got on the phone, and called roomservice, which recommended to him The Rose villa. Mamoru hung up the phone, and told Usagi through the door to dress nicely but casually. He went into his bathroom, and changed into a black dress shirt and black slacks, giving him a dark but handsome look. He brushed out his wavy black hair, making it shine in the bathroom light. Finally satisfied with his looks, he went into the livingroom to put on his socks and shoes. As he was lacing up the last shoe, Usagi stepped out of the bedroom, her appearance dazzling Mamoru. She wore a long, loose fitting, elegant black dress. It had bell cap sleeves, and a square neckline, and complimented her well. Her hair had been done into a half ponytail that was braided, and fell well below her waist, creating a shimmering waterfall of golden hair. Her feet were encased in a pair of flat black sling backs, and her blue eyes sparkled. "You ready to go, Usagi?" Mamoru asked, still a little stunned at her beauty. "Yes, lets go, Mamoru." Usagi said with a large smile, grabbing her coat on the way out of the room. ********************************************************************** They entered The Rose Villa a short time later, immediately being shown to their seats. Usagi looked around, and was immediately charmed with the beautiful restaurant. The roof had beams that supported it, and wrapped around the beams were living roses. The roses had been made to curl around the beams from the original plant, and thrived on the roof. On the walls, garden scene murals were painted, giving the impression of dining in a garden on a spring day. Mamoru was just as taken with the place as Usagi, he too marveled at the roses on the roof. When their food had arrived, they ate in a comfortable silence, unwilling to break the spell that the roses had cast on them. After dinner, they went for a walk in the restaurants rose garden. Usagi and Mamoru walked in the moonlight, admiring the beauty of the roses, until they finally settled on a bench. Usagi sat, facing a rose bush and away from Mamoru, and Mamoru placed his arms about her form, pulling her into him. She leaned her head against his chest and sighed. ~Mamoru, will we ever have a normal life? ~ ~ I don?t know, Usagi. Maybe, Maybe not. ~ ~ Do you ever wish that you didn?t protect me? ~ ~ Never. I would never ever wish that, especially when talking about you. ~ Usagi started to cry softly, and Mamoru held her tighter, giving her much needed support. ~ Lets go home, Mamoru. I am tired. ~ Usagi thought to him. Mamoru nodded, and they left the restaurant for the hotel. As soon as they got into their room, Usagi changed into a night gown and climbed into bed, Mamoru joining her not long after. ********************************************************************** * Usagi?s Dream * ********************************************************************** Usagi was standing in the middle of a lovely rose garden, the moon shining on her form. Her hair was done up in two ponytails, ending on top with two buns. She wore a short, elegant white dress with silver accents. "Usagi......." She heard a voice calling her. She turned around, but saw no one. She started walking around the garden, when she heard it again. "Usagi.........." The voice seemed closer to her now, but as she turned around, she still did not see anything. "Usaaagi........" Nothing. "Usagi..........Usaagi......" Still nothing. "Usagi!" Usagi felt a deep stabbing pain in her chest, and as she looked down, she saw the end of a dagger sticking out of her chest, her life blood pouring out, staining her white dress red. With a cry of despair, she turned to face her attacker. His midnight black hair, rogue-ish good looks and vibrant blue eyes were unmistakable. "Mamoru! But why....?" Usagi asked as she slumped to the ground, dizzy from the blood loss. "Because, I hate you, Usagi. How could you ever think that I would love you?" Mamoru said with an evil laugh. Usagi looked genuinely hurt, and laid flat on the ground, waiting for death to claim her. Mamoru kicked her side, making her double over in new pain, making the blood pour out faster. Then Mamoru lifter her up by the neck, and tossed her a few feet away, her body making a sick thud. She opened her eyes, and as his face came into view...........the dream faded out. ********************************************************************** Usagi started awake, shivering and sweating all over. She sat straight up, clutching her chest tightly. Mamoru awoke at her sudden movements, and sat up to embrace her. She let herself be folded into his arms, and began to cry as Mamoru stroked her hair. "What was the dream about, Usagi?" "It was awful, Mamoru. I dreamt that I was in a beautiful and serene meadow, playing with some flowers. Then suddenly I felt this pain in my chest, and as I looked down, I found that you had stabbed me through the back. You told me that you hated me, and.........and......" Usagi broke off as the tears fell harder. "Shhh, Usagi. Everything is all right now. I would never harm you, you know that." Usagi was still unable to speak, but her crying did seem to slow down. Mamoru held her gently, rocking her until all crying had stopped. Mamoru gently eased them both back down to the bed, and they fell asleep holding each other. ********************************************************************** Usagi and Mamoru arrived at the section 5 subway station at 10 o?clock exactly. Ami was there, waiting by the entrance, motioning them over. "Hey, Ames. Ready to go?" "Yep, all ready. Lets go." With that, they all headed down into the subway station. When they got to the platform, they walked to the very end, and proceeded to carefully walk down the narrow walk way that the tunnel afforded. "Hey, Ami?" "Yeah Usagi?" Ami said in a low voice. "Keep that UV light handy. You most likely will need it." Usagi whispered. Ami nodded her head, and they continued on in silence. About 50 feet ahead of them, Usagi spotted the Section 6 sign. As they reached the sign, they discovered that the tunnel split into two directions. ~ Mamoru, take Ami down the left path, I?ll cover the right. ~ ~ What about you? ~ ~ I?ll be fine, besides, Ami needs more help here than I would. ~ ~ I still don?t like it. ~ ~ Look, if I get into any serious problems, I will contact you, all right? ~ ~ Fine. Just be careful, OK? ~ Usagi nodded to Mamoru, who began to lead Ami down the left path. Usagi carefully made her way down the right. ********************************************************************** * the left tunnel * ********************************************************************** Mamoru kept the lead while they headed down the tunnel. Mamoru set up a telepathic feeler with a distance of 10 feet around both him and Ami, so they would get a warning before an attack. They kept walking along the tunnel, not noticing anything unusual. Suddenly, the tunnel started to softly glow a midnight blue color and the walls of the tunnel began to shake. "Make a run for it, Ami!" Mamoru yelled, pushing Ami back toward the main tunnel. Ami started to run as fast as she could, with Mamoru right behind her. They ran and ran with the tunnel rapidly collapsing behind them. Finally they reached the main tunnel, turning only to see the last bit of the left tunnel sealed off. "Lets go find Usagi." Mamoru said as he started into the right tunnel. **************************************************************** * the right tunnel * **************************************************************** Usagi made her way down the right tunnel, switching on her vampiric senses. ~ Well, at least I can thank "mother" for one thing. ~ Usagi thought bitterly to herself. Usagi, when making use of her vampiric senses, changed drastically in appearance. Her golden hair had changed into a vibrant mass of cool silver, with a single streak of light blue in front. Her eyes had gone from her usual deep blue shade to a shocking silver-blue mix, giving her eyes a cold, piercing quality. Her skin, however, was the only thing that made her even resemble a human, for it retained its natural peachy color. She was now able to see in the dark well, her eyes now had nocturnal vision allowing her to see. She extended her sensory perception around her, to check for hidden dangers as she traveled the tunnel. ~ Usagi! Wait up! ~ Usagi whirled around to see Mamoru and Ami running up to her. ~ What are you doing here? I thought you were checking the left tunnel? ~ ~ We did, and were almost crushed in the attempt. The tunnel collapsed with us in it. ~ ~ Are you all right? ~ Usagi thought to Mamoru. Mamoru nodded, and Usagi looked relieved. Ami looked confused. Usagi gave her a look that said ?I will explain later? Ami nodded, and they all continued down the path. ~ Nice hair, Usagi. ~ Mamoru thought to her, causing her to blush. ~ I?ll explain later. ~ " Why don?t you explain now, little bunny?" Came a voice from down the tunnel. Suddenly, lights were turned on in the tunnel, and to her surprise, Usagi, Mamoru, and Ami were confronted with several half-breeds, and a full blood. "Who are you?" Usagi asked the full blood. "My name, little bunny, is Devial." He said, bowing mockingly. "What right have you to address your superior in such a way?" Usagi asked, assuming an imperative tone. Devial looked at her, finally noticing her change out of human form. He formed an apologetic expression on his face, and bowed properly. "I am sorry, your highness. Princess, forgive me." "We?ll see. Now, Devial, what is all this?" She said, motioning to all the half breeds. "Well, princess, they were here to stop you and your...erm....guests. I suppose they are unnecessary now, due to your reclaiming of your title." "I have come to do no such thing! I came to speak with my mother. I demand to see her." Usagi said, her eyes flashing wildly. "I?m afraid not, your "highness"." Devial said, as the vampires began to advance. ~ Get ready to fight, Mamoru. Make sure Ami has her UV light with her. It will protect her until one of us can. ~ A vampire lunged at Usagi, stopping cold as her head was ripped clean off. Usagi brushed off her hand as two more came at her. Thinking quickly, Usagi threw a silver stake at the first one, and used her silver dagger to behead the second. Both died instantly. Mamoru lunged at one vampire, staking it before it could react. One by one, the vampires died by Usagi and Mamoru?s hands. "Ahhhhh!!!!" Ami screamed. Ami had been stabbed in her midsection by Devial. Laughing as she dropped to the ground, moaning in pain, he waved goodbye and vanished. "Ami!" Usagi said, rushing to her fallen friend. "Ami!" "I?m all.......right......" Ami said as she passed out from the pain. " Mamoru, we need to get her out of here." "Leave that to me, Usagi. You just take my hand, and hold hers with your other one." Mamoru closed his eyes, and all three of them began to glow a dark blue color. After a minute, they were all back in Ami?s house. Usagi immediately got up and ran to get bandages for Ami?s wound. Mamoru dropped into a chair, exhausted. ********************************************************************** Ami stirred slowly from her sleep. Slowly she opened her eyes, and tried to sit up. She felt a hand push her back down, and then she only felt the pain. "Ami, drink this." Usagi said, slowly tipping a glass to Ami?s lips. "Ugggh....that tastes awful." Ami said, making a face. Usagi laughed, patting Ami?s head. "Well, at least I know you will be all right. You had me worried there, Ami." Usagi said, smiling faintly. "Usagi?" "Yeah, Ami?" "Why do you look like that?" Ami said, referring to Usagi?s vampire appearance. "Well, I needed my "powers" in the tunnel. They allowed me to see in the dark, and to fight as well as I did." Usagi said, looking away from Ami. "Usagi?" "Yeah?" "Is she gone?" "Yeah, she?s gone. She went to the United States, to California." "Do you want me to come with you two?" "No, no Ami. You?ve done enough for us already. Besides, I have a friend in California already. She can help us from here." "I want you to have something though, Usagi. Go to that square box on my dresser, and bring it here." Usagi retrieved the box, and Ami took it, opening it to reveal a perfect sapphire crystal. "I know I always told you that I didn?t have one of these, but now that I know what it is for, I want you to have mine." Ami handed it to Usagi, who took it, and placed it in her special pouch, along with Rei?s ruby crystal. "I called Greg, and he will be here in 2 hours. He is taking a vacation for once." Usagi said, immediately perking Ami up. "Does that mean you are leaving?" "Yeah, I already booked our flight for tonight, at 9 p.m.. That way, we can wait for Greg to get here, and have enough time to pack." "Where is Mamoru?" "Sleeping. That teleport trick he pulled really drained him. He is sleeping on the couch in the living room." "I am going to miss you so much when you go, Usagi. I don?t know if I?ll........." "Don?t say that, Ami. I will not be defeated, and when I win, I will come back and visit you. Don?t even worry about me, you just concentrate on getting better, and let me worry about the fighting. Now you need to get some sleep, and when you wake up, Greg will be here, and I won?t." "Usagi..." "See ya, Ami. Now rest." Usagi said, exiting the room, and closing the door behind herself. ********************************************************************** "I hope I did the right thing, Mamoru." Usagi said, as they boarded the plane to California. Usagi was now back to her normal appearance, and was quite worried about Ami. "She understands, Usagi. She knows what you have to do, and understands it. I?m sure you can make it up to her later." "You know, you?re right, Mamoru. I can make it up to her later." "Exactly." "But for right now, I am going to take a nap!" Usagi said, snuggling into Mamoru, and drifting off to sleep. ~ Some things never change, do they? ~ Mamoru thought to himself as he opened up his book and began to read. ********************************************************************** Hiya again!
