drgonwynd@aol.com (Dragonwind) Y'know, I just noticed something...all the time I've been posting my chapters, I haven't been putting the small disclaimer saying that I didn't create these characters. Gee, I hope no one sues me. All characters portrayed in this story, besides mine, are copyrighted to a bunch of people that have way more money than I do. They were created by Naoko Takeuchi and are not mine. Nexus Chapter 6 The street was unusually quiet, but Usagi never noticed, she was too busy hanging onto her boyfriend's arm, covered with a brown jacket. They just left the museum where Mamoru was working... "Mamo-chan!! Where are we going to eat?" Usagi asked. Mamoru looked down at her and smiled, "Wherever you want Usako..." Usagi smiled and did a small cheer, like she did now whenever food was close to being in her stomach... They came up to the crosswalk in front of the museum. Mamoru quickly checked for any cars, but since there was none, he started to walk across quickly. Usagi could hear a sudden revving of an engine, something was wrong, she could feel it. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a yellow car speeding towards them, just like it came from nowhere. Mamoru's head jerked in the car's direction. The car was mere meters/yards from them, then Mamoru pushed Usagi out of the way. Usagi barely felt the hands on her shoulders before she was sent flying backwards away from Mamoru. She saw the car smash into him, pushing the legs out from under him, his whole body hitting the hood, and his head crashing through the windshield... ...MAMO-CHAN!!!!!!!! Usagi woke up in a soft chair near Mamoru's workplace. "I must have dozed off..." she said, while holding her hand to her head. She then noticed she was quivering all over, 'What kind of dream was that? It seemed so real.' "Usako! You ready?" "Mamo-chan!! Ye..." She froze...he was wearing the exact same thing as in the dream...so was she...this was getting strange. Maybe it wasn't a dream. "Are you okay? You are almost white!" She pushed the whole dream out of her mind and smiled. "I'm fine. Just..had a bad dream...let's go!" He hesitated, but held her hand and they walked out the door side-by-side. Mamoru noticed that Usagi was getting really edgy about something...as soon as they got out of the museum, she was turning her head from side to side, as if looking for something. The streets were nearly empty, except for several cars parallel-parked along the street. Usagi could hear a faint engine, but couldn't place it. The whole area was silent, save for the lake fountain and a few kids playing on the sidewalks. "Hey, Usagi. Let's go over there, they serve delicious food," Mamoru said, pointing to a restaurant across the street, next to a fountain. Usagi looked at it, it was a place that was growing in popularity among her classmates...they served nearly any type of food you could want...from almost every major culture. Food brought her mind off her dream, and they stepped off the curb to walk across the street. Then the same feeling she had earlier, about the dream, came over her. She looked down the street and a yellow car was flying down the street right at her. Instinct to protect Mamoru (Is that a pun?) moved her body before she could think it, she pushed all of her weight into her boyfriend and he was pushed out of the way, and Usagi stood there, eyes closed, waiting for the car to crush her. But instead, the she heard the sound of shattering, tires squealing and something large and metal grinding against the asphalt. She opened her eyes and saw the car rolling towards her fast. Someone near her shouted something, but her mind couldn't even comprehend up and down right now. In a flash of blue, according to her mind, she was moved about 3 feet to her left and was pressed up against a dark-green van behind her. The wrecked car came to a rest right next to her, or rather, in front of her. She couldn't take her eyes off the car, even when Mamoru was calling her name. She could hear someone's voice whispering to her, "It's okay, it's okay, just slide along the van to your right, and keep going until we're clear." It was a young girl's voice, and it belonged to the body against her. She did as she was told and soon they were both clear. Usagi was breathing extremely quickly and had to sit down where she started crying almost on the spot. "You IDIOT!! How could you just stand there while that car was just flying towards you? What? Do you think you'll live forever?" She looked up with tear-filled eyes at the source. A young girl...no...a young woman wearing a white blouse and a blue skirt. She was standing over her with her hands flying all around in the air accenting her words. Mamoru was beside her the entire time, "What are you talking about? She had no idea what was going to happen! None of us knew!!" Usagi looked at him, and just stared at a bruise that was forming on his forehead, probably when she knocked him down. The girl probably understood this, because she started helping Mamoru calm down Usagi. Someone had called the police since they soon heard the sirens. A police car drove up and several followed. After a bit, Usagi had to tell them what happened, according to her, so did Mamoru and the girl. A policeman gave Usagi a ride home, to her parent's relief. They were extremely scared about what happened, they didn't even let her open the window for the rest of the day. The next day, Usagi met together with her friends, at the urging of Mamoru, considering what happened earlier with Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna, before she went anywhere else. To be continued...
