Seiya said softly as he opened the door to Usagi's room. Looking around he couldn't see her, but could hear her crying still. He listened intensely until he could hear Luna's voice rise above Usagi's sobs and wails. "Usagi-chan, it's all right. I'm sure nothing will change. We just have these few random youma's to take care of, that's it." Her words of comfort did nothing to soothe the crying girl. "What about the future? What about Chibi-Usa-chan? I can't talk to her, Diana's worried, the Starlights are here and the outer senshi are gone... what am I going to do Luna?" Silence trailed after that exchange, and Seiya hesitated as to whether or not he should go and talk to Usagi, or let her be. Luna answered that question for him. She leapt in the window and almost fell off the bed when she saw Seiya standing there. "She's out in the tree. Talk to her." Luna said, then she ran out of the room. Seiya went over to the window and peeked out, seeing a tree a few feet away from the window. One of the stronger branches reached just a foot in front of him. Catching his breath, Seiya stepped out onto the branch and reached for one above it to keep his balance. Looking around, he saw Usagi sitting near the very top of the tree, on the weaker branches. Her light frame didn't effect them at all. 'Usagi-chan, what's wrong?' Seiya thought as he slowly climbed up until he was just a few feet below Usagi. "Usagi-chan!" Seiya called, poking his head up through the remaining branches. The way she was sitting caused Seiya's head to come up right next to hers, startling her and nearly sending her falling to the ground. "Seiya-kun! Don't scare me like that!" Usagi gasped, gripping the branches to re-gain her own balance. "Sorry, Usagi-chan." Seiya apologized and steadied himself on the other branches before he went on. "Luna said I should talk to you even though I don't know what about." he joked. "You didn't need to come all the way up here. You could have called me from down there. I would have climbed down." Usagi said, apologetically. "That's all right, Usagi-chan." Seiya said, smiling. "Besides, I, uh, like climbing trees." he lied. Usagi knew it. She began to laugh, causing the branches Seiya was hanging on to to move. "Usagi stop laughing please! You're going to make me fall down!" Seiya exclaimed, grabbing onto the trunk for more support. Usagi suppressed her laughter and looked at Seiya, smiling, but her eyes were still sad. "You could always cheer me up no matter what, Seiya-kun. You took that on as your personal duty. Keep Usagi-chan happy, don't let her be sad, keep her smiling, keep her mind off of how much she misses Mamo-chan no matter what it takes. It'll be good for her." She sighed. "It was good for me, I guess. Now Mamo-chan's gone again and there's no way to bring him back. And who know why Haruka- and Michiru-chan are back." "Usagi-chan! Bedtime!" Ikuko called up the stairs, not realizing that Usagi wasn't in her room. "All right, mama!" Usagi called, using her powers to make her sound like she was really inside. "I'll go to bed in just a minute. Seiya-kun and I are talking!" "Okay, Usagi-chan. Just don't stay up too late. You'll have plenty of time to catch up tomorrow." Usagi sighed. "If things keep on going the way they have been, no, I won't. Rei-chan called a scout meeting tomorrow at ten, and then of course we have to talk about other things after that, and I still haven't managed to get some decent shopping done for the past two weeks!" Seiya suppressed a laugh, but failed and it came out as more of a snort. "What? What did I say?" Usagi asked, switching into defense mode. "Nothing." Seiya said, "You just haven't changed a bit!" Usagi smiled and smacked Seiya on the head. "Try to catch me going down, Seiya-kun!" She said, and leapt nimbly from tree limb to tree limb. 'Man, if I didn't know any better, I'd say Usagi is Sailor Moon!" Seiya thought. ***THE FUTURE*** "Go to bed, Serenity." Ami said, laying a hand on the tired queen's shoulder, "You've had a long day and a lot to think about. I can take care of Chibi-Usa-chan just fine as long as nothing changes. I will call you if it does." "Why can't the crystal heal her, Ami-chan?" Serenity asked. "I don't know why, Serenity. The power is there and I know it has attempted a connection, but it can't. Or won't." To tired to ask what Ami meant, Serenity turned towards the door and went to visit Wakusei. "Wakusei-sama? Are you awake?" she called as she gently strode into the room. Wakusei turned away from the window seat where she was staring out at the moon. "I am, Serenity-sama." she said, smiling. "I was just looking at the moon." Serenity's eyes clouded as she nodded. "I have not been there since my mother called me to tell me of my past." Serenity said, sadly remembering the small figure that had depicted her mother's form. Wakusei nodded, "I read about that. Is there any possible way that you may be able to go and re-build the moon kingdom there?" Serenity could only shrug. "Ami-chan has been working on a way to stableize the atmosphere there, and to re-create the environment we had." She explained. "The only problem is, if we did that and my mother's spirit was still there, then we would have no way to keep it from disappearing permenantly." "Can't you summon her and see?" Wakusei asked. Serenity shook her head. "My friend, Setsuna-sensei, the guardian of time, she isn't there to make sure that is *is* my mother that comes instead of anybody else. She's busy enough as it is." A royal guard was walking down the hallway and heard Serenity and Wakusei talking. She recalled the message that she had received from the past and made a quick decision to interrupt their conversation and give Serenity the news. "Your Highness, I have a message from the past from Tomoe Hotaru to you." she said, stepping into the room. Serenity quickly took the note and ushered the guard out of the room, closing the door behind her. "Masaka! Hotaru-chan is alive!" Serenity exclaimed, staring at the note. She ripped it open and Wakusei watched, amused, as she eagerly read the letter. The light in her eyes fades as she read further. "Masaka..." she whispered, dropping the letter, tears threatening her eyes. "What's wrong, Serenity-sama?" Wakusei asked softly. "What news did the Messiah of Silence have for you?" "The Messiah of Silence... wShorthat a grave job the fates have given you my dear... of all the cruel fates they could have given you. Why now?" Serenity muttered. "Hotaru-chan has just alerted me that there is a new sailor scout of time at the gates. She does not remember who she is, though she says she should. I'm so confused!" Wakusei remained silent as Serenity thought that one out. "What about the cruel fate, Serenity-sama?" She finally pressed. "Hotaru-chan is but a girl! She is not even fifteen yet, and she is already dooomed to give her life to save those of her friends. Chibi-Usa-chan. The fates have deemed it so. The Messiah of Silence can never live. That's the story, that's all there is to it. What a cruel fate they have given to such a young girl!" -Let her go. Her duty was to save you anyway, princess.- Serenity closed her eyes against this new onslaught of "Memories" from the past. 'Maybe that is what Setsuna-sensei was talking about. Maybe these dreams we're all having are from the times that were destroyed and they must be re-newed. Wouldn't that mean we would all disappear or die though?' Serenity looked once again at Hotaru's letter, and read the part over again that gave her the most bad feelings. 'Seiya-kun and the others are here with Usagi-chan of this time. We have found that we cannot contact Setsuna-sensei, and Haruka- and Michiru-sama are nowhere around. Usagi-chan is holding the Space Sword and the Aqua Mirror in her Lunar Pocket until he have a better idea of what is going on. Seiya-kun and Usagi-chan send their love and hopes that everything is going well.' ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Short, I know, but I had to get it done in time for the deadline, and not fall behind since I didn't get chapter 3 in last week.
