Discovery of the Moon Kingdom by Adrian I used the American version names, but the manga version of the moon kingdom's last night. This story takes place when Serenia is about 20, and she and Darion have been married for about a year, maybe a little longer. Darion came home from work and, after greeting his wife, settled down to watch the evening news He was just starting to relax when something the newscaster said literly caused him to jump out of his chair and fall on the floor. " Signs of life found on the moon" Serenia was in the kitchen making dinner. "True, Lita is the best 'Salior Chef' there is," she thought, "but I can make a pretty good chicken curry!" Suddenly, she heard a loud "THUD" in the living room. "Hey, Darion? You O.K. in there?" she asked. "Yeah, but I think you had better come in here and see this!" came the reply. Serenia stared in shock at the televison screen. She couldn't beleive what she was seeing. Images of her old kingdom, appering on the six o'clock news? It seemed imposible, but there it was, just as she had seen it last. Dimly she heard the newscaster giving her report. "NASA scintists have found the remains of what appears to be a civilazation on the moon. Carbon dating has shown these ruins to be at least 10,000 years old. But these were no primitave cave-dwellings.Instead, it seems that this socity had advanced as far as our own." "Advanced as far as our own? The golden age of the solar system, the Silver Milineium, a socity as advanced as this one?!" Luna said, with more than a little offended dignity. "Hush Luna!" Darion replied "They have no idea what it was like! And I'm not the one who said it, so would you please take your claws out of my leg?" "Oh, I'm so sorry!" she answeredwith the feline equivlant of a blush. "Shhhh! Serenia hissed, she wanted to hear what the reporter was saying. "Due to the lack of an atmosphere on themoon, the remains of buldings, people, and even cothing have been preserved as if this civlization had fallen only yesterday." Tears came to Serenia's eyes as she saw images of the Moon Kingdom flashed across the television. The other Salior Scouts, as they had been when Beryl had killed them all. Fallen minons of the Negaverse and citizens of the Moon, some still in their ball gowns, lay on the ground. The Queen Serenity, laying against a fallen pillar, appeared on the screen. And then they saw a new image. One that nearly broke their hearts. A yong man, in his early twenties, lay on the ground. Next to him layy a woman, a girl almost, who couldn't have been more than eighteen. Her once white gown was stained red, and her golden pigtails were fanned out on the ground. Next to her lay a sword. A reddish-brown stain formed a nearly perfect circle around their bodies. Darion heard Serenia's sharp intake of breath as she rembered the moment. "That... That's us." She wispered. Darion squezed her hand, and wiped the tears from her cheeks. But he could say no words of comfort because a lump had formed in his throat that prevented him from speaking. Oblivious to the sceen, the newscaster continued her story. "It almost seems as if this cilization was destroyed in a war, just before a natural disaster caused the atmosphere to be destroyed" "As if Beryl was a natural disaster. More like a disatrous freak of nature" Luna thought glumly. "Perhaps, in the light of this discovery, we will build our own colony on the moon. In other news..." Luna sighed as she turned off the T.V. That was enough news for one night. She glanced up at the couch where Darion was trying to comfort his Princess without crying himself. "I do not regret what I did" Serenia sniffed, "but seeing it, seeing us like that, on the evening news! And Mother too! It looks just like it did that night. I..." "Shhh. It's O.K., my meatball head. Thanks to the Silver Crystal, we're all safe now. "I know" Serenia answered. "And don't call me 'meatball head'" And with that, she threw a Pillow at him, which hit Darion right on the nose. "Hey," he said, "do you smell somthing burning?"
