Notes (2/2/98): Well look, three drafts later, I finally got the third chapter out! I was really unhappy with the first version I wrote, so I spent a LONG time trying to fix it, and then just wound up rewriting the entire thing. This chapter still isn't as good as I would like it to be, but it's much better than it was before! BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BUDDY VALERIE AKA SAILORV AKA KEIKO!!! Everyone say happy birthday to her ^_^ Oh, one more thing... I just got a file from the SailorStars musical, it's a duet between Seiya and Usagi called "I Miss You." Does anyone know where I can get the lyrics to this song? Arigato! Thanks to Lianne, Janelle, and Chris Davies for inspiring me with their wonderful works of Sailormoon fanfiction. Special thanks to Sailor November for helping me edit my writing AND for posting up my fanfic with encouragement and great comments ^_^ Disclaimer: Sailormoon, its characters and all of that stuff are copyrights of Naoko Takeuchi, Kodansha LTD, and Toei Animation. I am not in any way associated with any of them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- STARLIGHT MEMORIES By, Debbie Hsieh Chapter 3 Mamoru looked at the object in his hands and smiled. A previous version of himself and Usagi smiled back at him. His eyes scanned over the picture and rested on his fiancT. *She's so beautiful... I can't go a day without seeing her.* He thought for a moment and put the picture down, reaching for the telephone. After dialing a number, he cleared his throat and said "Hello, may I please speak to Usagi?... Oh, she's still asleep?" He glanced at the clock on his wall and shook his head. It was 12:00 PM. "Oh, no that's ok. Don't wake her up. Can you please just tell her I called? Arigato." He hung up the phone and put his head in his hands, thinking. All of a sudden, a thought came to him. "Well, Mamoru, if you ARE going to get married, you should buy yourself a nice tuxedo..." Grinning, he picked up the phone once again and dialed another number. "Hi, Motoki?" You busy today, pal?" Luna walked into Usagi's room, shaking her head. *12:00 may be one thing, but 2:00?* she thought to herself. She jumped onto Usagi's bed, about to scream her kitty lungs out, but stopped when she saw that Usagi's pajamas were wet with tears. Luna's heart softened and she gently nudged Usagi. Usagi, in turn, groaned and opened her eyes slowly. "What's wrong?" Luna asked, concerned. Usagi rubbed her eyes and looked confused. "I-I had another dream," she whispered softly. "Do you remember what it was about this time?" Usagi hesitated, then opened her mouth. "No..." "Well, we're going to have to do something about it, if these dreams don't stop. They really seem to be troubling you," Luna said. Usagi immediately put on her brightest smile. "No, that's ok. They're not troubling me at all. Just dreams, you know?" "If you end up screaming or crying in your sleep again, don't expect me to ignore it," Luna said, after examining Usagi's face. "Now get ready, I heard your mother say that Mamoru called earlier this morning." "Nani??? Mamo-chan? Why didn't you tell me before?" With incredible speed, she got dressed and ran downstairs. "Mom? MOM?" Usagi called. "Hai, Usagi, good morning!" Ikuko called cheerfully. "Or, good afternoon, I should say," she added after examining the clock. "Did Mamoru call this morning?" Usagi asked frantically. "Why, yes... How did you know?" Her mother responded, confused. But Usagi was already dialing Mamoru's number. After a few rings, she slammed down the phone, pouting. "He's not home," she said simply. "Well, it HAS been two hours since he called." "Why didn't you wake me up?" Usagi asked, still upset. "He told me not to... Usagi, why don't you just go out and have a nice time with your friends? Not seeing Mamoru this once won't break up your marriage," Ikuko suggested. As if on cue, the doorbell rang. Usagi walked over to answer it. "Konnichiwa!!!" A cheerful Minako walked in. "Oh, hi Minako-chan," Usagi said. "What are you doing here?" Minako walked straight over to the kitchen table and sat down. "Well, I thought that I'd take the liberty of helping you with your wedding! Now, first thing's first," she said, while pulling out countless brochures from her pockets. "What kind of flowers do you want?" Usagi looked confused. "Flowers? Um, I don't know," "What about the dress... modern, or classic?" "Um...." "Place of marriage: church or meadow?" "I really haven't thought about-" "Oh, Usagi-chan! You haven't thought about ANYTHING at all?" Minako threw up her hands in exasperation. "Well, Minako-chan, the wedding isn't for three months-" "Three months? Three months will pass in a breath! You have to get everything done soon!" Minako practically screamed, turning blue. "Three months is plenty of time," a serene voice interrupted them. "You don't have to be so pushy, Minako," another voice added. Minako looked up and giggled forcefully. "Oh, hi Michiru-sama, Haruka-sama! How did you guys get in?" She asked a little too cheerfully. "Oh, we were just out there, ringing the doorbell for the last five minutes, and decided to let ourselves in," Haruka explained, looking slightly annoyed. "So, uh, what are you guys doing here?" Usagi asked, curious. "Well actually..." Michiru seemed embarrassed. "To help you plan your wedding... you told us to come today, remember?" "But you don't have to plan everything all at once, we just thought we should get the basic layout done," Haruka added quickly. "You know, like the flowers, the dress, the place..." Michiru explained. Usagi sweatdropped and sighed. It was going to be a long day. Mamoru looked at himself in the mirror, his eyes criticizing every detail of the jet-black tuxedo. "Nice, but... not nice enough," he concluded finally. "Mamoru! That's the fifteenth tuxedo you've tried on!" Motoki exclaimed, exasperated. "You're right, we DO have awhile, maybe we should just come back next week," Mamoru said. "I didn't mean it that way, but why are you so unhappy with EVERYTHING you've tried on?" "Well, you see," Mamoru started. "I-I'm not sure if Usagi will like it." Motoki smiled. "Oh, so that's the reason. Come on, Mamoru. She loves you, no matter whether the jacket buttons to the left or right." "I guess you're right. But I know she'll be looking for the perfect dress for me, I want to make sure I find the perfect tuxedo for her," he explained. "How do you know she'll be that worked up over a dress?" Mamoru laughed. "Trust me, she will." "But that one's got too much lace!" Usagi whined. "Usagi, I think it's very pretty!" Makoto persuaded. "I don't see you wearing it at YOUR wedding!" "Do you see me getting married?" "Guys, calm down," Ami broke in. "Usagi, you invited us all to your house to give you our personal opinions, didn't you?" "No, I invited you guys over to agree with my opinion!" "YOUR opinion? Don't tell me you still want to wear that nightgown!" Rei screamed. "A nightgown? It's called 'Princess Dress!'" Usagi said, defending her choice. "'Princess Dress!' It should be called-" "What about this one?" A cool voice interrupted their argument. "Setsuna! Where did you come from?" Michiru asked, relieved. "Remember, I said I'd help you out with your wedding too," She winked. "Now what do you think?" Usagi looked at the picture Setsuna held in her hand. The dress itself was simple, long and flowing with just a touch of lace. The veil held a hint of a shimmer while the train fell in soft ripples and waves. The model had red roses braided into her hair. "Ooooh..." was everyone's first reaction. "Setsuna-sama... where'd you find such a pretty dress?" Minako asked, still looking at the picture. "Oh, the Tokyo Bridal Shop," Setsuna answered. "Nani? I went there too, and I was sure to get all the catalogues!" Minako exclaimed. "Well, I guess you overlooked the clearance catalogue then," Setsuna said calmly. Everyone automatically developed sweatdrops, except for Usagi, who was still staring at the dress. *It's so beautiful... I wonder if Mamo-chan would like it too.* "Well then, now that we've got the dress issue taken care of, I propose we move on to the flowers," Haruka said briskly. The doorbell ringing interrupted her. Usagi walked over and opened the door, to see a happy Mamoru. "Usako..." He murmured as he swept her into his arms. "Mamo-chan," she whispered. "Hey, Mamoru! Do you want to see the dress Usagi's going to wear?" Minako asked, interrupting their moment. "No! I mean, I have an idea, Mamo-chan," Usagi said, suddenly flustered. "How about, you don't see what I'm going to wear, and I don't see what you're going to wear, until the wedding. I want to surprise you." Mamoru looked surprised for a moment, then smiled. "Ok, Usako. Deal." That night, Usagi lay in bed, thinking once again about her troubling dream. *I don't remember what exactly happened, but it was the same as before. Only slower, more painful.* She looked around for Luna, but her feline companion was nowhere to be found. "Well, I guess she's out with Artemis again," she said wickedly. "I guess I should tell her everything about my dream I can remember," Usagi started hesitantly. "But, this seems like the absolute worst time. I mean, what will everyone think when I say that I've been having dreams of Seiya?" Usagi got up from her bed and walked over to her open window, welcoming the rush of cool air. She looked up at the clear sky and saw the moon. *Reminds me of Mamo-chan.* she thought, smiling faintly. Then she looked at the winking stars. *Reminds me of...* She cut off her thought when she realized what she was about to say. "Seiya. What part of my life do you belong in?" Usagi asked herself. *********************************************************************** Her dark hair whipping around her face, the figure stood watching the stars. As her gaze came across the large gold moon, she paused. "Golden light... similar, yet different than the silver," "Out here again?" A voice interrupted her thoughts. "All you do nowadays is stare at the sky." She quickly turned around, but relaxed when she saw the source of the voice. "Healer, what do you want?" "Fighter..." The interloper paced for a few seconds and opened her mouth to speak, only to close it again. "Nani?" Fighter asked, annoyed. "Well remember, her?" "Hai... the shining light..." "And remember, him?" "Hai." "You see..." the silver-haired girl walked over to her friend and whispered the information into her ear. After she did, Fighter's dark eyes abruptly turned around to face the horizon once again. "Fighter, I-" Healer began, but then gave up and headed back inside, stopping only once to see her friend still staring at the black sky, a single tear rolling off her cheek. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it for this chapter, some stuff revealed at the end, ne?(wow, I'm sure you never would have guessed ^_^) Remember to tell me what you guys think at savagegrl2@aol.com and visit my webpage at http://members.aol.com/savagegrl2/index.html *Note (5/19/00): email addy and webpage are now obsolete!
