"How the Stars Became Stars... A Tale of Forbidden but Desired Love." By: Amyblue-chan Rated: PG E-mail: monicam_1@yahoo.com For many generations a legend has been handed down telling of a great love between a princess and her prince, and how the stars were formed from that love. And so our story begins, in a peaceful time, the Silver Millennium, in which each planet had a kingdom, 1,000 years ago...' *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Is it that you don't understand Father?!?" yelled an angry Prince Endymion of Earth to his father, King Terra. "Of course I understand Endymion, but as ruler of Earth and your father, I want what's best for you and my kingdom." responded his father. "This commitment with Neptune, whether you love the girl or not, will be good for our kingdom and it will establish a relationship with the planet, a relationship we need to keep the peace between us. You very well know that. Now do you understand why I want you to marry Princess Neptune?" "Yes Father, I understand your reasons, but as you already said it yourself; I don't love the Princess of Neptune. Besides, the prophecies say that the heir of Earth will fall in love and marry the heir of the closest planet and you know perfectly well that the closest planet is the Moon." "Darling..." said Queen Gaea to her husband, "I believe this time he has won the argument. Let him be." The king looked up startled, and saw the Queen stitching quietly on her throne. She rarely expressed her opinion and it surprised him that she had on this particular discussion. "But..." "No buts this time Terra. Endymion does have his point. Remember what Lady Setsuna said not long before he was born. Have you forgotten?" With this, the Queen looked up and cast a warning glance upon her husband. He sighed and slowly let out the words he knew would have to come out sooner or later. "Oh Endymion... You are nineteen years old now and I believe you are old enough to make your own decisions. Go on, search for the girl of your dreams and choose wisely. But I do ask a favor of you, consult us before going off and marrying just anybody and we shall give you our consent." "Yes Father, and I thank you for giving me the freedom to decide. Please, I ask to be excused for I must prepare for my journey." "Go ahead son. I give you my blessings." With a bow and a look of determination in his face, Endymion left the throne room. But before he was out of hearing range, he heard his mother say a sweet 'Thank you.' *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ And so Prince Endymion set off in his journey to find his princess. He decided to start on the Moon, knowing that the prophecies were always carried out; and not knowing that when he would finally find his one true love among the courts of the Moon, he was to marry an evil soul back on Earth. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ On the Moon, Queen Selenity, ruler of the Moon and head of the Silver Alliance, was discussing possible suitors for her fifteen year old daughter, Princess Serenity. She had received a message from Earth, announcing Prince Endymion's arrival that evening. "Mom..." wailed Princess Serenity, "I don't want to meet Prince Endymion of Earth. He must be EXACTLY like every other suitor that has come here: lazy, ugly and only interested in taking the Moon's throne." -My daughter is right. This beautiful kingdom deserves at least someone whom Serenity loves... But I have a feeling. I know he is the one. If only she would give him a chance, she'd discover the soul bond buried deep within both of them.- "Serenity dear, I know how you must feel. Remember, I was a teenager too once. Give him an opportunity. You know you must find a suitable suitor before you turn sixteen; otherwise, one will be chosen for you. It has been a law for many generations now, Serenity, and I am not the one who chooses. The Council debates and then decides, even if it may not be for the best." "Mother..." "Please Serenity. Do it for me. You know I want to see you happily married to someone you love. Not be forced to marry and be miserable for the rest of your life because the Council did not choose well." -Sere, you are so much like your father, so stubborn. Hmmm, if only you knew your father, you would know what I mean. I don't want what happened to me to happen to you.- With Selenity's pleading and tired dark blue eyes, Serenity finally gave in, for she knew her mother always carried a certain knowledge and wisdom in her words. "Very well Mother, I'm doing this just because you know what's right for me and not because I want to. But let me make something clear: I do not promise you anything." "Thank you Serenity, I appreciate your efforts. Let's just hope everything turns out for the best." Selenity smiled gratefully at her daughter and prayed to the Gods, asking them not to abandon her on this important day. As Princess Serenity began to leave, her mother called out, "Darling, did I inform you that he will be arriving shortly?" Hearing this, the princess turned in her heel, worried. "Pardon me? I thought you said he was arriving this evening." "He is, Serenity. Have you not yet looked at the sky? Sunset must have been at least a half hour ago." The Queen stated calmly. "Oh Mother... how come you didn't tell me earlier?" "I did Serenity, but you DID say you had enough time, even after I insisted." "Well then... I have to go get ready! Why do you do this to me? MOTHER!!" "Yes dear?" "Argh..." With that, the princess left the throne room running, only to hear her mother say, "Serenity! Remember you are a princess and princesses don't run!" She didn't have time to stop and answer her mother because if this 'supposedly' handsome Prince Endymion was coming that very evening, she at least wanted to make a stunning first impression. That was how she scared off all the suitors that had come, seeking her hand in marriage. It had always been the same. Her enchantment had found ways to scare men off by making them believe they weren't good enough for the angel before them. -But do I really want to scare off everybody?- -No.- Her mind answered back. Sure, she wanted independence. Who didn't? But her soul was empty and her heart carried a void, a void that could not be easily filled. She needed love, but not the love of a parent nor a friend. Her heart ached for the love and companionship of a man. A soulmate. She made a choice right then. She would give Prince Endymion a chance. After all, she did not want to be lonely for the rest of her life or live with the guilt of having had an opportunity to choose and wasted it. Upon arriving at her suite, she searched her wardrobe many a time before finding the perfect gown. She quickly took off the white, empire-waisted silk gown she wore each day and replaced it with a sky blue chiffon one that flowed freely below her waist and enhanced her eyes. It fit her smugly, accentuating her womanly curves and long legs. If it was something she loved, were the glances she caught from the unaware suitors that went to meet her and who had apparently never heard of her breathtaking beauty. Her golden blonde hair went straight to her waist in soft curls and her bangs emitted softness and angelic features. Her eyes were blue as the clearest blue sky in a summer day and her figure had been well built over the years running through the palace?s many pathways. On the whole, she was like a bright summer day, transmitting warmth and happiness to all that surrounded her. As she finished retouching her make-up and putting the remaining pearl clips on her hair, the trumpets sounded, announcing the arrival of what she thought could be her last suitor: Prince Endymion of the planet Earth. He entered the Moon Palace and was astonished to see how beautiful it was. Crystalline water fell freely among the marble fountains framing the entrance to the palace. A stone pathway led to the Royal Gardens, which slightly perfumed the air with roses and lavender. The moonshine marble floor in the palace's dais gleamed with earthlight coming from the openings between the tall columns attached to the ceiling. The ceiling itself held grand chandeliers, also catching the Earth's light and casting dancing shadows on the opalescent walls. Endymion tried to imagine how dull and lifeless the Moon would look if it did not have this shining kingdom, but with no avail. It surely held all the glory and dignity it deserved to be the leader of the Silver Alliance and somehow, this thought gave him a certain security. Back at the East Wing, somebody knocked on Princess Serenity?s suite. "Who is it?" asked the Princess. "The Queen, Princess." Came a meek voice from outside. Princess Serenity stood up and let her mother in. "Thank you Molly," she replied with a warm smile. Closing the door, she asked, "Mom, how do I look?" "Bunny, you look gorgeous!" gushed the Queen as Serenity twirled around to show her mother the dress. "Mother..." began Serenity in a warning tone, "You know that I don?t like you calling me Bunny." "Bu..." "No buts Mother. It was fine until I was nine or ten and you know that, but I am fifteen now and no longer a child. I would appreciate it if you would call me by my name and not a pet name you and Father used to call me." "As you wish, PRINCESS SERENITY," answered the Queen in a joking matter. "Thank you, YOUR MAJESTY," replied Serenity in the same manner. Within seconds as they stole a glance at each other, they burst out laughing. Regaining her composure, Selenity said, "Serenity, we have a guest downstairs waiting for our presence." "Might as well get over it soon," answered a sarcastic princess. With that they left the main quarters together. As they began descending the vast marble stairwell, trumpets began sounding as a speaker announced, "Please welcome her royal highness and leader of the Silver Alliance, Queen Selenity and presenting her daughter, Princess Serenity, next heir to the Moon Kingdom." Prince Endymion bowed and the Princess and her Mother curtsied, showing respect for their guest. He gently took the hands of the Queen and her daughter and gave them each a soft butterfly kiss. Slowly he stood up, smiled, and the introductions began. "Welcome Prince Endymion, and let us make your stay here at our kingdom as pleasant as we possibly can." "Thank you for your kindness Your Majesty. I assume this your daughter?" asked Prince Endymion as he looked at Princess Serenity. The princess was far more beautiful than he could ever had imagined. He was sure her small figure could fit perfectly in his arms, and even though he knew nothing about her, he could see that her smile would take him to the heavens and beyond at some point in his visit. Then she smiled... he was sure of it now. That bright, innocent and lighthearted smile was heaven to him and perhaps even more. He knew it right away, as he remembered what he had said not long ago to his mother. *~*FLASHBACK*~* "Mother, the day I find the girl of my dreams, I will marry her." "But Endy, how will you know when you find her?" "I know because when I shall see her smile, it will take me to the heavens and show me the meaning of true happiness." *~*END OF FLASHBACK*~* -This is the princess I have been looking for... the one that will become my wife. If only I could make her realize what she means to me.- "Yes. Prince Endymion of Earth, meet Princess Serenity of the Moon, the next heir to this beautiful kingdom." "It is a pleasure to meet you Princess," again he took her hand and brushed his lips against the angel-like skin. "Thank you Prince Endymion, it is a pleasure to meet you too." Night had already fallen and the sky was a deep midnight blue. The only object visible in the sky from the palace?s open windows was Earth. "Indeed it is a beautiful kingdom and in all it's glory. But I am mostly surprised to see how Earth looks from up here. It looks just like the Moon from where I come from, illuminating the night sky and everything in it." Said the Prince. "Yes," agreed the princess, "The view here is wonderful. But how does the Moon look from where you live?" "The Moon shines it's silver light..." began Prince Endymion, but Serenity didn't listen to him and the Queen noticed this, for she was deep in her thoughts. -Oh my God! He is the handsomest prince I have ever seen in my life! Those suitors that I thought were cute cannot compare to this one. By the way he was looking at me a minute ago, I can tell that he's at least interested. I never expected him to be so handsome. Cute maybe, but not like this. He is just the type of man that I was looking for. That tall frame, those broad shoulders, his muscular chest, strong arms to wrap around me, gorgeous ebony hair and stormy dark blue eyes. What must he think of me?- At the same time, the Queen was also in her own world. -The meeting is working. They can't take their eyes off each other. At last my daughter has found happiness and her one true love, and for what I can see, Prince Endymion has too. Just like out of a storybook, destinies meant to meet and fall in love. A soul reunited and soulmates found. Eternity would approve. Even *I* feel the soul bond between them.- After making sure Prince Endymion had finished his explanation about how the Moon looked from Earth, Princess Serenity asked her mother rather hesitantly, "Mother, would you mind if Prince Endymion and I were excused? I would like to get better acquainted with our visitor and the Royal Gardens seem like a good place to do so." Then she added, "Do you approve of that?" "Why, of course Serenity darling. Why wouldn't I? As a matter of fact, I was about to suggest the very same thing. Now go on, run along, but make sure you are both back here in time for supper." "Yes Mother. Thank you." "Have a good evening Your Majesty." Prince Endymion said with a bow. "Thank you Endymion." "Good bye." -Farewell young ones... and may the prophecies be carried out.- They strolled in a comfortable silence, touring the rose gardens, until Princess Serenity decided to say something. "So wha..." "So wha..." They looked at eachother and laughed. A coincidence like this was not very common, and it surprised them both. "You go fir..." "You go fir..." It happened again, only this time, Princess Serenity blushed. Was their soul bond so strong that they were thinking the same thing? She looked up and found a pair of love-filled eyes gazing at her. Blue clashing into blue... The sea into the sky. She became entranced by those midnight eyes that reminded her of the times in her childhood where she dreamed of going to Earth. When he broke her gaze, she quickly turned back, blushing even harder than before. Had it been love in his eyes? But why? They hardly knew each other, it was almost absurd. But her heart told her another story. She knew he was the one, the one that would give her anything just to see her smile. She was very confused. What did her eyes tell about her? Seeing that his princess was flustered, Endymion tried to resume the conversation that they had begun just a moment ago. "Go ahead, ladies first." "Excuse me?" The Prince speaking had interrupted her thoughts. "What were you going to say?" Replied Prince Endymion. "Oh. Forgive me, but I seem to have forgotten." "Do not worry dear Princess, but if I may ask, what made you forget?" "My mind is very troubled this evening. I do not know if you understand, but it is filled with emotions that are unknown to me. Quite frankly, I am beginning to feel confused." "Ah Princess... That is very common among us humans. If it gives you any comfort, I felt like that earlier tonight, when I met you." Serenity stopped short in her tracks and looked intently into Prince Endymion's eyes. "What are you saying?" She was uncertain. Did he really feel the same? His eyes told her 'Yes', but she struggled with her mind on finding a reason as to why this beautiful stranger had fallen in love with her. "That I when I least expected it, I fell in love." He whispered, letting the emotion in his voice drift with the soft breeze. "Do you feel the same as I do then?" "Yes Princess, I do. I see love in your eyes, undying love. The same love I feel for you. Do you see it in my eyes too?" She nodded, unable to reply. Her heart was beating in her ears and a warmth caressed her skin, despite the cold breeze. Endymion smiled at her loss for words. He, too, was new to this feeling, but without any reason, it gave him safety. Both of them knew they would never be lonely ever again. "I didn't believe in soulmates, nor eternal love, but I do now. You Princess, awakened that feeling inside my heart and because of it, I thank you. We were destined to meet, fall in love and be together for all eternity..." Their faces were now inches apart and with the closing of their eyes, they met in a long, passionate kiss, revealing all the love and emotions that had been kept inside. As they broke apart, the trumpets announcing dinner were heard among the peaceful gardens. "Come Endy, we must hurry. I wouldn't want for Mother to worry of our whereabouts." She was wrapped around his strong arms, where she indeed fit perfectly. "Let us wait a moment more. I do not want to let go of this feeling." "I don't want to either, but we must." There was a certain sadness in her voice, as if she knew something were to happen. "Wait. My love, promise me you will not forget me." Said Endymion. "What? Why?" "Calm down Sere, I am leaving for Earth tomorrow, to tell my father that I have finally found my one true love and will marry her. Princess Serenity of the Moon, will you marry me?" He knelt before her and gently enveloped her small hands in his. "Oh Endy! Need you even ask? Of course I will marry you!" The happiness in Serenity' voice was evident as she too knelt and hugged Endymion fiercely. "Then my princess, take this red rose as a token of my love and always remember me as you look at it." He wrapped the thornless rose in her fingers and then covered her hand with his. "And you my wonderful prince, take this star-shaped locket and open it. Let the melody take over your senses and remember our days here at the Moon, as you remember it's title: Moonlight Destiny." "Let the blue Earth be the witness of our vows and enduring love, as we seal them with a kiss." *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Prince Endymion traveled back to Earth two days after their romantic night in the gardens. He had let Princess Serenity convince him to stay a day more with her on the Moon and he had gladly accepted. The couple informed their engagement to Queen Selenity that very night and with an open smile, blessed them. Now he was on his way to the throne room, hoping to tell both his mother and father, about his future bride. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Father! Father!" Yelled an excited Prince Endymion. "I have finally found the girl of my dreams!" King Terra was standing, talking to somebody. He turned around, slightly, to welcome his son. "Calm down Endymion. Please." He moved aside to reveal a short, red haired girl in her late teens, holding a glass of wine. Her eyes were red, shaming the color of blood and filled with hate towards King Terra. However, as she stole a glance at Prince Endymion, her eyes softened, although the same hate remained. "This is Lady Beryl. Now, calmly, what were you saying about finally finding the girl of your dreams?" "Yes Father, I have. I found the girl of my dreams and I know that she is the one. I am getting married Father, to Princess Serenity of the Moon." King Terra looked at Endymion as if he had just said something in an unknown language to them all. "And do you love this... this Princess Serenity?" "Do not talk about her like that Father. She does not deserve this hate from you. I love her with all my heart and we are getting married as soon as possible." "Then that can never be Endymion. I forbid you to ever see her again." "What?! You cannot do that to me Father. How can you destroy the heart of your only son? "Yes I can Endymion, and I will. I am thinking of the welfare of both you and my kingdom. It is an order, young man. Understood?" "Yes Father." "Besides, how can you love your Princess knowing that you are betrothed to Lady Beryl?" *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Oh, do not worry, the story does not end there. You may ask yourself, "But how were the stars formed?" The legend tells that Prince Endymion accepted his betrothal to Lady Beryl after having shared pleasantries with her, therefore convincing his feeble father that his princess was long forgotten. He left that very evening for the Moon, telling no one of his whereabouts, but Lady Beryl, possessing evil and unnatural powers, knew. Moments later, she teleported to the Moon and slew Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity as they shared a forbidden kiss in the royal rose gardens. The "Moonlight Destiny" was playing and the undying love hidden inside the locket was activated. This unknown power rose to the night sky and filled it with little sparkles. They were given the name of "Stars", due to the shape of the locket from which the power was released. At that same moment, the Prince and his Princess ascended to heaven, where they were wed and became King and Queen of the skies. Each night they are killed with the remains of Lady Beryl's evil spirit and sparkles fill the night sky. But do not be sad for them, because each morning as the sun rises, they are reborn and given the opportunity to love and be happy again. Shortly after their deaths, the whole Silver Millennium was filled with a great sadness. All of the allied planets and their respective kingdoms fell. Earth remained, only to be polluted by the hate of King Terra, who was the only one who never approved of their love. Some say that this is the reason why Earth is the only planet that has life and all the other planets do not. Well young ones, now that you know the history behind this castle, go in and explore. But do be careful, they say that King Terra's spirit still roams around the palace walls... *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ @)-->---/The End\---<--(@ Did you like it?
