-------------------- Hey peoples! Me again. What's up? (like you'll answer.) Okay, I'm doing this fic a little different. A Multi Part Songfic. Kinda unusual, or no? Well, whatever. It's written to Sting's "After the Rain has Fallen" (and no, it's not a sad one. (I hope)) Oh, and the lyrics are at the end of the fic (it takes place OOONNNN earth) Here goes! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally the guard's head nodded and fell asleep onto his chest. A slight snore came from his still form, and the only other noise was the crackling of the dying fire. No one heard the midnight colored horse ride up to the palace wall or saw the cloaked man enter the grounds. He was wrapped in a pitch black cloak, a sign of rank from where he was from. His midnight black hair fell lightly over his forehead, and his blue eyes had a knowing, yet anxious look in them. (think that he was dressed like the moonlight knight) He crept silently to the garden wall, and past it in one swift leap. He landed in a patch of soft grass underneath a tall balcony. He gazed up, unseen by the guards nearby. In another swift leap, he made it up to the balcony. The doors leading to the connected room were shut, but opened easily when he pushed them open. The curtains covering the remaining moonlight swayed into the room with the breeze, opening a path for this lone thief to enter the room of a sleeping princess. Mamoru, claimed to be the most cunning thief on the planet Earth, was undertaking the most difficult and dangerous of them all. Stealing the Princess Serenity's most prized posessions. A rumble of thunder came through the doors, and the Princess stirred in her sleep. Mamoru darted from the doors, killing his silhouette. Serenity opened her eyes slightly, barely noticing that her doors were cracked open. She groaned, and slid out of bed. Her silver hair hung down to the floor, trailing slightly as she trudged over to close them. Then, as if getting a second thought, she left them open and turned back inside. Serenity pulled her hair over her shoulder as she stepped over to her dresser. Mamoru couldn't see what she was doing, her back was to him, but he could hear a key click and a box creak open. Serenity reached in and took out several old letters, a stunning necklace, and finally a old locket. She held the locket carefully, like it would break at any second. Then she headed back to the balcony and disappeared through the doors. Mamoru stepped out from the corner, still hardly visible for the black cloak he was wearing. He started to go over to the dresser to take the necklace she had pulled out, but stopped out of curiosity at the doors. Serenity was leaning against the balcony railing, staring at the locket. Mamoru had to look closely to tell if she had some type of glitter on her face or if those were tears glinting in the faint moonlight. A slight sniff told him that she was indeed crying. 'I wish I could go comfort her, she looks so sad!' he thought, wistfully, but knew if he did, it would be his head. "Endy, why don't you just come back to me!" she said softly, but loud enough for Mamoru to hear. 'Endy? Why do I feel like I've heard that name before?' Mamoru thought. Then he was snapped back to attention when he heard a mysterious melody float through the air. 'I've heard that before, but' he thought, but then had to duck back in the shadows as Serenity looked up in surprise. "Why is it playing? Endy, are you," she started to say then gulped, "here?" Mamoru didn't know what to do, whether to show his presence, or to find a way to escape. Serenity got to her feet and slowly, almost fearfully went to the door. When Mamoru did speak up, she jumped and dropped the locket. "My name is Mamoru, not the 'Endy' you seek." He said firmly. She turned to face him, making out his form in the darkness. Fear was evident in her voice when she said, "How else would the locket have played?" His eyes narrowed in thought, then looked down at the locket, resting near his feet. He bent down to pick it up, and as soon as he touched it, a golden glow began to cover it's surface. He stood back up with wonder in his eyes, as the glow got brighter and brighter. Serenity stepped over to him and covered the locket with her hands. Mamoru looked from the locket into her eyes, and noticed that they were beginning to fill again with tears. "Endyimion, I've missed you!" she whispered, and gently removed the cloth over his mouth, then wrapped her arms around him. Mamoru's mind was racing. Here was an unknown princess calling him a name that was strangely familiar, yet he was Mamoru, not Endyimion! What trick was this? "You're parent's will be so glad to hear that you are really alive" she said softly, laying her head on his chest. "Parents? Princess, if all this is true, why do I not remember a thing you are saying. Tell me that, then I might believe your words." Mamoru said coldly, then walked away from her to the balcony. "Endy, Mamoru, I don't know what happened to you, or why you don't remember. You alone could make that locket play, and honestly, you haven't changed since I saw you last. Look at me." Serenity ordered, coming up behind him. Mamoru turned around to feel her cool hands gently touch his temples. From the corner of his eyes, he could see her hands turning a pale silvery blue. "What are you doing to me?" he asked. "Shhhh, I'm just opening your mind. Don't worry, I would never hurt you." She whispered. Mamoru suddenly felt a cool breeze blow across his face, ruffling his hair beneath his head coverings. Then an onrush of forgotten memories surged through his mind. It wasn't painful, just surprising. He cried out softly, then closed his eyes. He no longer felt Serenity's hands on his face, but did feel himself growing weaker. Mamoru started to sink down on his knees, then opened his eyes. Serenity was kneeling down in front of him, gently supporting him by holding his shoulders. "Remember now?" she asked. Mamoru nodded slightly, still confused. If these new memories were right, that would mean that he was... Royalty? He couldn't stay there, it wasn't for him, 'I'm NOT Endyimion anymore!' his mind screamed. He stood up, pushing away from Serenity. "Endy!" She cried out, surprised. "I'M NOT ENDYIMION!!!" He shouted, then softer, "never again. I'm sorry, Serenity, but, I'm not him anymore!" He turned away from her, facing the swiftly coming storm. Serenity stepped up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, laying her cheek against his back. "No matter who you are, Mamoru, I'll still love you all the same." She whispered. He turned around in her arms, and looked into her silver eyes. "Will you come back?" She asked. "Only for you, Sere." He said back, then lightly kissed her crescent moon before disappearing into the night. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay, there's the first chapter! I hope that it wasn't TOO confusing.
