Finding Yourself In Life By Rebecca "Dreamlume" Roberts Prologue Serena walked through the Earth's capital with purpose. She was an orphan and was shabbily dressed in a tattered, faded dress that was once violet, but had now turned a dull grey, and a pair of worn shoes that had holes in their toes. But despite her dress she was a stunningly beautiful girl with azure eyes that seemed to be speckled with silver, and amazing silver hair. She had a perfect 5"9'' figure to the envy of every woman, and a loving, witty, down to earth personality that gained the admiration of everyone she met. She walked faster in anticipation. Today was the first day that she would work at the royal palace. She wondered what her job would be. She was seventeen years old, and very good at cooking and sewing like any lady should be. But very few people knew that she was an excellent horsewoman and a master at fencing and archery. She had stayed with different families that had been kind enough to take her in since she was a young girl. With each home she had learned a new skill. She now felt confident that she could handle any task given to her with ease, but was still surprised to receive the letter of summons to the palace while staying with the last family. She made her way to the stableman?s house to borrow a horse for the two-week journey to the palace. On her back she carried a sack that contained all of her belongings. ?Good morning Findley.? She said, politely addressing the grizzled stableman. ?Mornin? Missy.? He answered back gruffly. ?Missy? was his customary way of addressing women in general. ?Would it be too much to ask you for a horse? I need to ride to the royal palace? There were four men standing a few feet away who raised their heads curiously at this and began to watch her. ?Of course Ma?am? He answered, more polite now at the thought of getting business. He went into the stables and came out with a beautiful white mare that had already been saddled. Serena took out her small purse and paid the man. She was about to mount when she heard one of the men calling to her. She turned around and took in their appearances. They all seemed tall and ruggedly handsome. The one whom she assumed was their leader had golden hair that was so fine that it seemed almost white. He had ice blue eyes. The others in the group flanked him. The one to his right was taller than the rest with long chestnut hair and emerald eyes. The one to the leader?s left had long blond hair that was pulled back, with deep green eyes that contrasted perfectly with his light hair. The last man followed behind them with short gold hair, and mischievous sky blue eyes. ?Good morning My Lady? said the leader politely. ?My name is Serena Sir, and nothing more? Serena replied kindly. ?Serena, we couldn?t help but overhear that you are on your way to the palace.? He said with a discerning gaze. ? Yes Sir, and I?ll be leaving now.? The leader seemed taken aback by such bold, forward behavior from a girl. He quickly recovered, but Serena had noticed his reaction, and now bore a grin. ?I?m sorry, many have reprimanded me for my forwardness. I mean no offence to you.? The leader smiled and said ?And none taken.? He was tapped on the shoulder by the blond in the back, and suddenly seemed to remember his friends. With haste he said ?How rude of me, we haven?t even introduced ourselves. I?m Kunzite, and this is Nephrite,?..Zoizite,??.and Jedite.? He said, pointing consecutively to the brunette, blond and gold haired men. They each bowed in turn. ?It?s nice to meet you all? Serena said with a smile. ?We are the personal guards of the Prince of the Earth, Endymion; and we are heading home to the palace.? ?We would like to know if you would let us escort you there.? Finished Zoizite who had been quiet until then. ?I would love that? said Serena happily. They then mounted their steeds, and began their journey to the palace.
