-------------------- Hi! This is my new Fanfic, titled Memories of a Life Well Lived. It's an alternate reality, and it takes place in, hmmm, let me think of a not too large city, smaller than New York, preferably in Texas, or near a beach, *thinks hard, face turns red for all the brain cells being destroyed *, Got one! Wait, no I don't. Okay, I'll have it take place in Corpus Christi, Texas. That's cool. The time it starts out in is about 2070, but it goes back in time. Okay, on with the fic. ---------------------- Darien opened his eyes and looked around the room. He saw Rini, his daughter, and her husband, Matthew. Rini came over, and sat down on the bed beside Darien. She took his hand, and smiled at him. Darien let his gaze shift over to the other side of the bed, where Serena, his wife of over 70 years, was sitting. Gently she reached over and moved a few wisps of thin, gray hair from his forehead. She leaned over and kissed his forehead. "Are you alright? I mean, has the pain lessened any?" Serena asked. "No, it hasn't, but it's not anything I can't handle. I don't have that much longer to put up with it, anyway." Darien said, referring to the tumor that was in his brain. The doctor said that tests showed Darien didn't have much longer to live. Maybe a day, at the most. He said that early in the morning, and it was about 8:00 at night. "I'm so sorry, Daddy, that there isn't any way that we can stop the pain!" Rini said, tears coming to her eyes. She brought her fathers hand up to her lips, and kissed it. Darien yawns, and closes his eyes for a minute. He begins to remember things that happened in his life, like when he met Serena, their wedding day, their 2 children, Rini's wedding, and all that he could. It took him awhile to remember everything, but it was there, in vivid detail. ---------------------- Okay, that was the prologue. More is coming fast, so stay tuned. Until next time, Dragonfly
